Lava Rock Grill

Where the heck is this place??? We drove out of our way to eat lunch here and what did we did? Chickens, a train Depot and a bridal ship. I asked the clerk in the shop where was Lava and she never ever heard of it. She has lived here all her life. She sent us to New Philadelphia. Lordy!

Met some family here for Sunday lunch. There were 8 of us and they kindly accommodated us by putting some tables together. We all got something different from the menu, from fish to fried dill pickle spears. It was all delicious. Not a lot of seating and they're only open 11-2, but a nice atmosphere with lots of "Price is Right" memorabilia on the walls. You could tell our waitress was seasoned and experienced as she handled our 8 orders with ease. In addition, you have the Unusual Junction to explore and you can head down the road about a mile to McKenna's Roadside market. I went in not expecting a whole lot but left feeling full and satisfied!

This place is as eye catching on the outside as it is in. There is so much to see and explore inside the shop as well as the grille itself; a great 70's style diner with good old fashioned customer service & home cooking. I swore off of mozz sticks for years because they all had that awful chemical tasting plastic fake cheese inside but something said to give this place a chance & I'm glad I did. Coupled with their sweet white birch beer & delicious funnel cake fries- this bloated stomach couldn't have been happier. The place is also very clean & interesting, I just wish that they took better care of the train cars outside or that you could actually eat inside one. A great destination for family & friends if you're in the area!

Great Food and Nostalgia rolled into one! WOW! What a place! The food was very good (burgers, sandwiches and stuff), but be prepared to spend lots of time just looking around at all the stuff on the walls and things from the area you can purchase (jams, cheeses, hot sauces galore). This place was just fun with a nice meal. Can't wait to go back with my wife.

I wish I could give 0 stars. We arrived from out of town saw all the great reviews thought we would try it. We sat ourselves like the sign said waited about 5 min before someone came to give us a menu. No drink orders were ever taken we waited 30 min and all that was going on was the waitresses standing at the counter complaining we never had our order taken no one checked on us the same salad and soups that were up in the window were still there when we left. We stopped at the deli counter and asked if we could get a deli sandwich she said we also had to order those at the other counter. We just left. It's unfortunate the food seemed like it would be good and good priced but if you ant take orders or get food on the table it really doesn't matter.

Great little place... Menu had a nice variety and our waitress was top notch! I had the western burger... Great flavor and my daughter got the Italian wrap... She said it was yummy! Our waitress told us we would be excited to eat the loaded tator tots- she was right! Good prices, good atmosphere, great service!! They also have a general store here that has sauces, jams and old fashioned candy! It was the perfect lunch after spending 4 hours dress shopping next door :)
