La Chatelaine French Bakery & Bistro

Hmmm....this is very unusual. The croissant and the fries were maybe the best we've ever had. The coffee was horrid, and the vegetable soup was mediocre at best. They clearly have the potential to be outstanding, they probably need to revisit all their and aim for excellence.Service was good, and ambiance had charm but the facilities could use upkeep.

the food was so insanely delicious. i went for lunch and loved it so much that i came back the next day for breakfast. Best eclaire i've ever had for real!

La Chatelaine is a lovely bakery & bistro that's part of a local chain. You can't go wrong ordering the French classics--French onion soup, Vol au Vent de Poulet, or the croissants. My nephew wasn't too happy with a sausage sandwich that turned out to be seafood sausage. I had the mac & cheese, which was great. The semi-cafeteria system can definitely be confusing, and some of the workers seem a bit confused themselves.

I've been coming here with my grandmother for years, and it never disappoints! La Chatelaine is such a cute breakfast spot with great food and pastries. You order your food at the counter and then seat yourself, and it will be brought over - so service is quick and it's a good spot for groups. I always order a hot chocolate, which comes in a big bowl, and it's the best!

Brought my mom here for lunch. If you havent been, it can only be described as an old world charm in a rustic setting. The pastry case is before the main food. So just go back after you eat to get dessert. Today, the woman working the food line (not cashier) was SO rude and unhelpful that we almost left without anything. I am not exaggerating. She rushed us (with attitude) to make selections, completely ignored my mother. I told her I wanted a beet salad. She assumed it was for here. When I said it is to go. She literally slammed the beet salad in the case that she had picked up to give me back into the ice and threw the dressing back to its tray. It didnt get any better after that. Then she assumed the man behind me was with me. She nicely asked him what can i get you. He kept telling her "ma'am we are not together" "please finish her order" and he mouthed sorry to me. Lol. Still my mom had no food nor did she offer to help my mom. Finally I say. you need to help my mom and pointed. She said what does she want. i told her " how do I know... ask her". Finally the cashier helped my mom. Now the rude lady is down with me barking "do you want anything else or are you done". Wow. Just wow. Well at least the cashier was sweet and polite but the rude older woman completely stripped them of a tip from me. Once she (cashier) figured out there was not tip the attitude changed a bit. It was really quite unbelievable today. Took our food home and enjoyed it very much. But was sad, because this was suppose to be a special trip to eat there as my mom doesnt get out much. I was kind of angry about how we were treated which is why this isnt a five star but three and that is being GENEROUS. Food was five star today. Thats hard to admit when the service today was at best a one star experience. If you wonder what we ordered:I ordered a beet salad which was excellent. May of been one of the best Ive ever had. It had romaine, red beets, peaches, and apples with soft cheese. Oh, so perfect- except they shorted me my piece of bread that comes with salad Luckily I ordered a brikette. Which is a puff pastry filled with artichoke, spinach, garlic and swiss cheese. Highly recommend. Mom got a quiche. They make their out of puff pastry. Its round and shallow. Mom likes them a lot, I find them too shallow. Not sure we will return to this location. Sad as it is my favorite one and two miles from my mom.

A group of us went for lunch here on a break from a knitting event. I got a Brikette sandwich-Spinach, Artichoke à la Crème, Garlic & Swiss cheese in Puff Pastry . it was so delicious. I also had a bowl of vegetable soup which was so tasty and had lots of fresh veggies. Two of my friends had the eggs Benedict and said they were yummy. The potato soup was also judged wonderful. You walk along the counter and place your order. They give you a number and deliver your food to your table. It is very clean and there are lots of comfortable tables. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Stopped in with my mom on a Sunday for lunch. I had visited the Dublin location previously and this location was pretty similar. It had numerous rooms with tables decorated in a French style with exposed dark wood and decor.I ordered a ham baguette, added Swiss cheese, and had them warm it. I also ordered a cup of the Caesar salad. My mom ordered the lunch combo with a sandwich, side salad, and tomato soup. Both of our meals were tasty and fresh. While we looked over the pastries and desserts, we were full and ended up not getting anything. We snagged a table right across from the ordering line, so I was able to watch other diners order. The staff were polite and quick in service, so the line kept moving. It's kind of cafeteria style, where the prepared items will be handed to you before checking out. Things like my warmed baguette sandwich will be brought to your table when ready. They have entrees, brunch items, and other things that may be fancier. But their sandwiches are so tasty I've never ordered something else.

I love this place so much and definitely will be back to try other things on their menu.My friend ordered the spinach 3 egg omelette, while I ordered the breakfast sandwich. I love their croissants and special French Chatelaine coffee roast. The vibes are beautiful and scenic all around. We sat in the front patio area and got good views of what was going on in town. Service was great. You go up to the counter first to order and then you can sit everywhere and they will bring the food out to you. I want to go back and try some of their pastries and baked goods.

I have been a regular to frequent customer of La Chatelaine locations for over 14 years since 2010 and over the year have come here either alone or with regular weekly social groups. Best staff, service, pastry, food, coffee, and ambience you could ask for if you're in the mood for European and French style cafe.
