L A Catering recently took over the catering for the YWCA emPower lunch series. They offer a choice of sandwiches and 2 salads. So far, I've only tried the grilled chicken salad with pecans, apple, croutons and crumbled feta. The portion size is good. It comes with dressing and nuts in separate containers. I go for the salad straight up and it's quite good - no need for the dressing. The greens are nice - not iceberg lettuce. The chicken is moist and flavorful. The BEST part of the boxed lunch in the dessert. There is this AWESOME moist brownie-like bar, but it also has a thin layer of cheesecake. It is a generous size. I always save it and take it home with me to savor - and enjoy knowing that it's waiting for me at the end of the work day.

A little late here but better than never, right!I went the the Taste of LA event a few months back, invited as a client that uses LA Catering as often as I can. I had never been to Life Care Alliance before but wow! The work they have done to make the venue special is phenomenal. If you don't know what Life Care Alliance does, look them up. They provide incredible food to central Ohio residents who can't afford it, or can't travel to get it. Have you heard of Meals-om-Wheels? Yep, that's these guys.Well they just hired a new chef and they pulled out ALL of the stops for this baby. Was the food amazing or what! I think I ate more in that hour than I usually do in a whole day and every bit of it was fantastic. The event and the venue were just as fabulous. So, for your next event, if you need a venue and a caterer that you can count on, try out LA Catering. Customer service is important to these guys so you get the full service deal. Along the way, you get to help their annual operating fund and the money goes straight back into Central Ohio homes. Sounds like a win-win to me, folks!

The situation: You need catering. You might need an event space, too.The problem (that you didn't know you had): You want to choose a caterer that supports a local non-profit! Duh.The solution: L.A. CateringThe facts:- Revenue from L.A. Catering goes to LifeCare Alliance, a non profit agency in central Ohio providing needed services to seniors and chronically ill residents 365 days a year - through Meals-on-Wheels, Help at Home, Visiting Nurses Program, Wellness Centers, Columbus Cancer Clinic & Project Open Hand.- The L.A. Catering Event space can accommodate up to 350 people- The food is REALLY good. I got to attend an open house at L.A. catering and ate more than my fill of appetizers (did you know you could stuff an artichoke? I did not), pasta and cheesecake.- I have no idea what pricing looks like, but I've heard it's really reasonable

I was able to attend the Taste of L.A. Catering event which was a free food tasting event held at the event center and Carries Cafe on Mound St this past week. From the food that I was able to taste there and the experience of how they set up and run the event, I would definitely recommend looking at LA Catering as part of your decision set when you have weddings, private parties or even corporate meetings and events. They can hang with the bigger players around central Ohio and their cost is competitive if not slightly on the lower end.Jason, the head Chef is very personable and is really passionate about the food they prepare and the experience of their client events. The Pasta Carbonara was by far my favorite dish that I sampled, and I actually went back for seconds and thirds. It had excellent flavor and Jason's presentation was well designed. The deserts were also top notch and well presented. What I especially like is that this is a not for profit business and the proceeds go back into helping Lifecare Alliance operate multiple community programs like the Columbus Cancer Clinic, Meals on Wheels and Project Open Hand. It's cool to see a community organization supplement their funding by providing a revenue-generating service.LA Catering does good stuff and is definitely worth a look.

I came to L.A catering several days ago for a work meeting. The people that work there are extremely accomidating and friendly. The food is good and they have a variety of vegetarian options. Everything was inexpensive (veggie burger and fries for 4.75). This catering center is owned by a not for profit that services the elderly and chronically ill in their community (think meals on wheels, nursing care etc). So,the best part is that by hiring LA catering your not only get tasty food and great service, but your also helping those who need it most. It's a win-win situation!

I am so impressed with the quality of food and wonderful staff. The chef is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Where else can you receive exceptional catering and support such a worthy not for profit?

Worse food every. Salad was at least 2 weeks old, potatoes were cold, chicken was dry and tasteless, vegetables of squash and broccoli were mushy, and the prime rib was a reheated beef roast. The man next to me said his shoe leather was softer! Could have had a better meal at McDonalds for a tenth of the price!! Would never, ever go back. Pitiful!!
