Needed to make a pitstop. Parking lot is small and crazy- people not paying attention, and/or not knowing how to drive. Inside, a bit hectic (but it was Sunday afternoon.) Small compared to newer Krogers. Obviously not as big a selection, but they had the cold drinks we wanted. We had to use the restroom, and it was a disaster. Dirty, smelly, awful. And had clearly been that way awhile. No thanks.

While it's true that this store is not in the most affluent neighborhood in Central Ohio, I don't think that it's fair to blame the clientele for bad management. There has never been a time that I visited this store where there were more shopping carts inside than there were in rolling loose in the parking lot. The inside of the store itself is dirty; like really never-been-cleaned kind of dirty, not just the one day needs spruced up kind of dirty. Most of the produce looks like it is well past its prime and fresh things are just piled on top of nearly spoiled things. I'm happy that they recently put in a bunch more self scan registers but sometimes the employes who run them are overwhelmed by the volume of requests that they are getting. Dairy items that are not store brand are likely to be spoiled or expired. In fact grocery items that are not store brand are hard to come by at all. I'm giving them two stars because most of the employees are friendly. One late evening as I was looking for munchies on my way home from the bar another customer was stalking me purposely to mug or gay bash me or who knows what and the cashier and security guard noticed (before I even did) and were able to engage the guy while I cashed out and walked back to my house. This store is disgusting. I wonder if management showed the clientele respect by making their shopping experience more enjoyable would some of the complaints about the customers be mitigated?

Ok, to begin with you have to understand that this is a very ghetto store with some really good points amongst some seriously problematic ones. On the plus side- gas pumps, a nice bank (a Charter One that I'll review separately), and easy access from Parsons Ave. Sometimes you can get a great deal when they do a managers special on organic or vegetarian items because most of their shoppers don't buy them. On the negative side- super crowded at the beginning of the month, some of clientele are on the rough side, and the food selection is definitely downmarket. So while not good as a "main" grocery store it's worth dropping into now and then to see what's on special. I also always get gas there because of the Kroger Plus discounts (I usually get 10 to 20 cents off a gallon).

They have Buffalo Trace Bourbon! Their liquor store inside is very well stocked. The Bakery is decent. Deli isn't bad. The butchers are willing to get those special cuts for you if you understand you pay for what you want. True, This location isn't the snobby Sycamore store, but for the Southiders, it is a good fit. Parking lot is always full towards the store. The gas prices aren't bad. What I love about this store in particular is they always put out mark downs. Not everyone has a huge food budget and with my family of hungry teens, I pinch pennies. Check by the Freezer section in the back for daily bakery mark downs. Love their bagels. They seem to rotate district managers often, and they keeps changing the store lay out around. But..the workers have all been there for years, and they aren't grumpy or nasty to customers. Considering the spectrum of people and personalities that they put up with.I applaud them.

Closest liquor store around me. I waited in a line for about 5 minutes before I was even allowed in the liquor section only to get to the door and the woman inside tell me that if I didn't have someone else with me to watch my 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER that she had to wait outside the door. This kroger is already a dump but now I have a new reason to never go back.

This store ain't called 'Kroghetto' for nuttn'. I'm sure they do 75%+ of sales on food stamps and WIC. The only reason I go there at all is because it's a convenient location for me. Lock your car.

I feel bad for the people working here. I worked at a wonderful (SLIGHT exaggeration) Kroger once, so I can only imagine what it's like to work here - especially at the beginning of the month. The worst thing about this store is the customers. Most of them seem pretty horrendous. I avoid going here, because I'm trying to get over my misanthropic ways. This is what you would call a trigger for a person who is, or is close to being, a misanthrope.Do not go here at the beginning of the month. Actually, don't go to any Kroger at the beginning of the month - unless it's early in the morning. I think the reason is obvious. You think that beer run is going to take 5 minutes on the first of the month? I wouldn't bet on it.Do go here if you want a 40 of Steel Reserve or any other fine malt beverage. Why did the Kroger on Sycamore stop carrying 40's? F-ing snobs....geez.I'm not just being snarky here - I'm being pretty snarky, but I really do drink a 40 of Steel Reserve every now and then. Last night I drank a 40 of Busch. And it was fantastic. It really wasn't.The older woman working in the liquor store is nice. The liquor store isn't bad either. Although, they don't have Buffalo Trace bourbon. I really like that bourbon.1 star - liquor store1 star - lady working in the liquor store1 star - they have good prices on chili beans - and tomatoes. It's the perfect time of year to make chili.

If you're looking for great deals on food, this is the place to go! Mark downs galore! I wanted some quinoa, but it was 8 dollars on the shelve. The mark down shopping carts had dozen of bags for $1.99 each (bought 4 of them). Also bought steel cut oats, gluten free cake mixes, and organic beans all on mark down, all under $2 a piece. Super score!!The downside of this store is that the on-shelve selection is mediocre. Items you find at other Kroger stores don't exist here (like steam-in the bag edamame).
