First time visitor, which is hard to believe. It was a Thurber event tonight and a packed house. The theatre is beautiful. Comfortable seats, good acoustics, very pleasant atmosphere. Wasn't sure where to park or where to enter, it's a bit confusing. The main entrance is on Mt Vernon Avenue. We are fans now and signed up for their website.

This is a great facility with wonderful programming. I attended this year's MLK Day Open House, which was packed. While it does have a parking lot, it was full when I arrived, so I found nearby street parking and headed in. There is a lot of amazing art all throughout the hallways, and then there is a nice large art gallery space to explore as well. The hallway art is interspersed with historical displays and exhibits, including a space dedicated to jazz musicians (including clips of their music) and another that looks back at slavery. There are two auditorium spaces, which for the open house, were open all throughout the event with a variety of speakers and performances - the schedule was available as you walked in, which was nice. The staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful!

Small and quaint theatre located off mount Vernon avenue. Good amount of seating (i would say no more than 300 seats). No balcony. Reminds me of old movie theaters. Small lobby. There was a small band that provided live music. Easy to hear, good seats no matter where you sat. The show i attended had some snacks they sold during the intermission. Not sure if this was an old museum of what but "all whites only" signs were posted up by the bathroom and water fountain. A few other people were asking the same thing. Good place for up and coming plays. Nothing like the Palace theatre but it has a nice stage area. I didnt even know this place existed!

Dr. Martin Luther King Art center is a place of educational utopia for African Americans. A learning center that is about the family of just human beings. It's a place that black lives matter. Where all lives matter!!!
