Been wanting to try malatang for a while so I was excited to see K House has it. Unfortunately the 'create your own' option is a-la-carte off the menu so you pay for each ingredient individually, meaning it ends up being quite expensive. From what I know, malatang restaurants usually have open coolers where you can choose most of your ingredients and they charge by weight. The set malatang combos do seem like a much better deal, but the combos didn't appeal to me personally. The malatang itself was very delicious. The broth was very cloudy, perfect for a bone broth. The portion size was massive, possibly the biggest bowl of soup I've had in Columbus, and it was absolutely full of the ingredients I chose (lamb, lotus root, crown daisy, enoki mushrooms, two kinds of tofu, bean noodles).I chose the 'regular spicy' option but didn't find it spicy at all. The employees were happy to bring out a huge bowl of good quality chili oil for me to add, and it really made the dish. To be honest, I probably wont get malatang here again since it's so expensive, I'll wait for a restaurant that specializes only in malatang (I'll be on the lookout in NYC and Tokyo soon). But, I'm very interested in coming back to try their other dishes, since this one was such high quality.Bathroom was a bit shabby but the food is good enough that that doesn't matter.

I'm a bit saddened as I was very excited to try this place. I went to try a cheese foam boba, as I haven't found many places in Columbus that have it, and it was not great. I guess they were busy and it looked as if there was only a woman by herself working the front and back. She seemed to not be having a good time already. She went to the back and prepared a strawberry slush for me and there were very HUGE chunks in the slush. Like my straw immediately hit ice as is it were an iced beverage, not a blended one. I would have attached a picture but I returned the drink. But on the plus side she was able to promptly refund me. Although I am saddened by this experience, as this was something that I was looking forward to, I still am going to give this place another try. I know we all have our days. So I pray it gets better and this is a one time experience. I will update when I revisit. Hopefully I'll have a better story to tell!

I've been thinking of coming here since I took Baby K to K-Pot. I mean, K House? Next on the list. But she's not that into Chinese, so I didn't prioritize it. Today my first lunch option turned out to be carry out only, so I came here. It's nothing fancy. It's a small strip mall Chinese place, but it's authentic Chinese, not Chinese American. The service is, well, a little disorganized; friendly, but perhaps with some confusion from the language barrier. And I think they mostly do carry out and don't have too many dine-ins. Very interesting menu, loads of things I wanted to try. I went with one almost at random. "Sauerkraut braised beef sirloin noodles with soup." It's not sauerkraut, it's bok choy and vegetables, not fermented. And the beef is mostly beef tripe. Very tender, but still, of course, a little chewy. Excellent broth, excellent noodles, loads of veggies. Huge, steaming, fragrant bowl. I wish I could've captured the scent in addition to the photos. So good. Involuntary moans. It was so big I couldn't finish it, and I came in hungry. Price was reasonable for quality and quantity. I will definitely be back to try other things.

Once in awhile, I would be craving for some late night snacks. I heard there is some skewer option being offer in K House and eager to try. The BBQ option is available from 9:30pm to 2am. During this time, they have a separate BBQ menu that are differ from their regular restaurant menu. Bonus is their dessert drink menu would also be available. At night time, it is more chill and you can place your order through the QR code at the table. Their BBQ option is balance between the protein and veggies. Alongside, there are some appetizers, rice and noodle items. I really like their BBQ seasoning, where it have enough flavor and not over powering. My favorite would be the beef skewer and the grilled squid. Here just a couple note so that you can be aware. For dine in, 18% service fee is included to your bill. Also, they only accept cash or Zelle as payment for the BBQ option.

My friend recommended here so we gave it a try. We went there a few months ago, just a few weeks after they opened (sorry for my late review). To be honest, it's okay. It's a little bit pricy, and the servers were kind of inexperienced. The waiting time was too long because the dining area was pretty small. They were doing both dine-in and takeouts so the kitchen could be busy. But the food were good. If you have a relaxing evening, it's a good place to go.

Was craving some crabs. This spot had some and I heard about their chicken wings. The spicy crab and rice cake was made very nicely. Really flavorful! I also got the salted egg yolk chicken wings, and was pleasantly surprised on how well it worked. That is probably the most unique flavor I've had on a wing. I also ordered eggplant, potato, pepper combos and it was smoky, soft and delicious. Really recommend people to check out this northern styled Chinese restaurant.

This is a pretty mixed review. My girl friend and I got two dishes. The seafood mix with silken tofu, and the chicken lo mein. (adventurous I know)Chicken lo mein - chewy flavorful noodles with pretty good minced chicken. 7/10, clearly above average.Seafood mix with Tofu - soggy, with a total of three bland shrimps about the size of the end of my pinky, not good guys. 3/10, bad enough that it really makes us question giving this place a second shot. Maybe my expectations were way off from reality here? I dunno.

Solid 3.5! We stopped over on a busy Saturday night for dinner. Although the dining area is small, it is bright and warm. We were seated in a couch-style booth and given a menu of drinks and a menu to mark our selections. They have a lot of appetizer choices, along with a mind-boggling (for an American) amount of drink selections. We kept it simple with a black tea latte, which came in a take-home cup, very cute. No appetizer this trip, although the egg yolk chicken wings sound good.Their main entrees are a make-your-own dishes, either a hot pot soup, stir-fried hot pot, chili oil noodles, etc. There are heat options ("spicy," "not spicy," "little spicy"), noodle and rice options. Then onto the ingredients - garnishes, proteins, veggies. Our mistake was not looking around to see how HUGE the portions were before ordering, but we were excited (and hungry).I ordered the chili oil noodles, "little spicy," ramen noodles, with quail egg (I got FOUR!), lamb, and a bunch of ramen-style veggies and soft tofu. It was really good! The spouse had the hot pot soup, not spicy, with beef and veggies. The peanut sauce added a lot to his dish and everything was cooked well. it was a TON of food - when the spouse takes home enough for another meal, it's a big portion. We had no room for dessert or boba, but next time, we will plan our order to share.Would recommend KHouse to satisfy your hot pot or drink cravings. We will be back.
