So, this restaurant was on my list to visit, and I finally made it. I walked into the restaurant to get a menu, and there was a noticable odor as soon as I walked in. I was not sure what it was...a little indescribable. Plus, there was a runner on the floor leading to the counter, and it was so sticky. Then, walking on the floor, it was just as sticky. I went to my car to look at menu, and was debating whether to order something, or keep on going. I decided to give a try due to good reviews, and the food looked delicious from pics.I ordered the combo 1 with the wings and fries, and also ordered the pork chop sandwich with fries. Neither the wings nor pork chop had much seasoning, but fried to perfection. I do not have a problem with under seasoning as I usually add hot sauce. The fries were cooked good; but one thing I noticed when I took my first bite of the chicken -- it tasted (or maybe it was the smell still in my nostrils) like the odor I smelled when walking in the restaurant. Anyway, I am not sure if I will return as the odor and sticky floors was a big turn off. There are many more soul food restaurants to try.

Delicious soul food and great service. Also found pricing to be pretty decent. Whiting was delicious and HUGE. My husband loved his pork chops. We continue to come back.

Wanted some fish but was lazy, so it had to be delivered. This popped as option on Grubhub. Got perch with Cole slaw and grew beans as sides. Also got few wings (haven't tried these yet). The fish was DELICIOUS although quite small pieces for the price. The slaw was good but green beans way too salty, although it had good flavor.The fish was delivered still hot. Definitely recommend

Had nice fish sandwich. Quick cheap fix , if u into soul food that is !! New here and I enjoyed fair prices and portions.

The catfish meal with fries and or onion rings is superb. The way they season that fish with those great seasonings and the fries are seasoned well as the good onion rings. My wife had the pork chop meal that was tasty and we enjoyed the chicken wing and fish combo too. The service and cleanliness of the establishment makes it a great place to return to when I go back to Columbus Ohio. I highly recommend that you try this place to receive the pleasure of good food and service .

I'd noticed some work going on here for awhile, and they're finally open. They've really cleaned up the place, inside and out. Larger than it looks, with a nice seating area.Fried fish and chicken dominate the menu, but there are other interesting things like pork chops, alligator sausage, etc. I wanted to try everything but settled on just a few things. Got single pieces of catfish and perch, and the sausage sandwich, with some fried okra.The fish was good. Nice thin batter, maybe a little overcooked but not bad- tender and flaky inside. The sausage was great. Actually pork and alligator, it was juicy and tasty. Served on a bun with grilled onions and banana peppers, I wolfed it down. The fried okra was good- big portion, nicely breaded and cooked. I want to try the chicken and pork chops, and I saw sweet potato pie so of course I need to have some. Hours are pretty much weekends only, so check first. Great service, decent prices. Bathrooms are a little odd- there's a little hallway with the women's in it, but the men's is in the main room. Look for a little silhouette of a man, oh.

Tried it for the first time, some good, some average? As some have mentioned that whiting is sliced thin. Tasty, cooked well but you need a 3 piece dinner, not the 2 piece and that's almost $15. Added one wing for $2.25, a bit pricey but good. Mac and cheese was good, fries were not real hot and a little soft. Could be that they weren't the way I like them, you might be ok. They didn't taste like they just came out of the fryer and that's puzzling. Our fish was fresh, why not the fries?Sweet potato pie to go was very good.

First time at JD's. We had the perch sandwich, onion rings, three pc. chicken, and fries. All were excellent.Service was outstanding and patient with us while we tried to decide what to order. Sweet folks there.And the ambiance was just what you would expect from a southern specialty food joint. Simple and functional.We brought home a few slices of their homemade pies: sweet potato and pecan. Too full to eat there, so we will try them a little later at home. They, too, look outstanding.

Food was good. Sometimes you just want plain fried fish without the high ticket price and fancy ambiance. This was the place. They were out of onion rings, coleslaw, and baked beans when we went on a Saturday at 5 pm so I had to accept the French fries. They were decent. Tartar sauce is in foil packs like ketchup which was mediocre for me. I was hoping for good tartar sauce. We ate inside (food is still served in Togo containers) and it is reminiscent of a southern fish-camp style restaurant which I was happy to see. I get tired of all the upscale looking restaurants. A nice non chain place fit the bill for me that day. I did try to order fried pies. They were out of those as well. I give it 5 stars for just serving affordable fish. My husband and I could actually afford to eat there. We will be back.

We got carry out, it was wonderful. Generous serving. Provided plenty of hot sauce, ketchup and tarter sauce. Called back to let me know they were out of the dessert I requested. Gave me something just as good. We will be back!
