Jack's Steak House

We had an exquisite time here. Nothing gourmet,But the best service ever and our meals were pretty darn good too. It's definitely worth coming back to. Thanks yall.

Great food and service in a clean and comfortable setting. Food was prepared in a timely manner and the portions were large!

I really try to keep things positive on here...However, there are exceptions to every rule. It should have been a sign that it was 630 on a Friday and there were only 3 tables full.Our waitress must have been having a bad day - strange vibe, and not super eager to be helpful. Positive - the coconut shrimp appetizer was BOMB! The pina colada sauce was thin, but tasty. Shrimp were big, and cooked perfectly. When asked about what the frozen slushy was, she said "I think it's vodka", but didn't ask or check to find the answer. Positive - the salad dressing was fresh and homemade! Ordered Prime Rib - big mistake. This was very obviously rib eye steaks that were set to bake in jus. Calling it prime rib is totally misleading. Cooked to medium (ordered rare-medrare). When we mentioned the cook, she asked, "should I have her put it back in?" Uh no, thank you. I'm not sure she understands how that works. No crust, no seasoning, no texture. Had I wanted braised roast, I might have considered making my own rather than paying $25 for it. Positive - The potato was tasty. I will not be returning.

So the website indicates that they have their Friday night prime rib dinner, but as of June 21, 2024 that is not true. We drove approximately 35 minutes through the beautiful Hocking Hills anticipating a delicious prime rib dinner. We arrived at the restaurant to find that they no longer have that special. I opted for a 16 ounce ribeye steak. I ordered it medium rare with sweet potato and onion rings. My husband ordered the fried fish dinner with french fries, extra crispy . When our meals arrived, my husband's fish was cooked nicely, but his french fries were far from being extra crispy, My 16 ounce rib steak was brown on the outside but rarer than rare on the inside. YUCK!! I was waiting for it to moo at me. I sent it back hoping it would return much closer to my medium rare expectation. It came back 10 minutes later still very, very rare,so I sent it back a second time nibbling on my sweet potato, which by was lukewarm and my onion rings, which were actually quite delicious. By the time my steak came back the third time it was well done! I have to say it was still incredibly tender and somewhat edible but my tummy was full from the decent sweet potato and onion ring so I could not eat the steak. Plus, I simply do not like steak well done. Our waitress was very accommodating and equally disappointed at the presentation of the steak, and she reduced our bill , charging me eight dollars for my onion rings and sweet potato. I feel strongly that a place advertised at a steakhouse should have a cook who knows how to prepare a steak medium rare before sending it out to the table, much less having two tries and then sending it out well done. Kudos to the waitress for handling this with grace and excellent customer service. Needless to say we more than likely will not be visiting Jack's again.

Diner atmosphere, friendly service, food was good but nothing fancy. The shrimp po boy was spicier than expected which made my mouth burn a bit. House ranch for salad was deelish. My son gobbled down his fish dinner without complaint. Husband got a pork tenderloin sandwich. Giant piece of pork on bread, but no toppings. Not sure if that's what he was expecting. Other son got some dry dusted wings and devoured them! Would probably go again, but might order differently for myself next time.

Best steak in town!! Amazing food, awesome waitress. Locally owned and casual place to have. Yummy dinner

We are rating this a 1 star due the quality of the food that we ordered. The boneless chicken wings were horrendously bad. The chicken was very chewy. Tasted like the chicken you can get the grocery store. The chips and salsa were literally bought from Savealot down the road. Lol. The Mac and cheese was straight powder and fake cheese with some soggy noddles. The bake potatoes was not cooked allThe way. Seems like you could use it to break a window. The price was crazy. Not worth it. Do not go!!! Gordon Ramsey is needed at this place now!!! Not worth the drive and the price.

This is NOT a steakhouse. It is a bar. I wouldn't waste time going here. We waited an hour and half for our food and it was ice cold.

45 minute wait for the daily special and it was not good when it finally arrived. Save yourself some aggravation and eat elsewhere.

Revisited Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023. Nice restaurant/bar; rustic atmosphere. Service was great. Food was good. Contrary to last year's comment on our attempted visit, Jack's is very open for business.
