J. Gilbert's Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood Columbus

Well, after a wonderful experience at Easter, we returned for a dinner so my wife could check it out (we have reservations for OSU graduation). Epic fail. I don't fault our server, but the pace of service was awful. Ordered a second beer...never got it. Ordered a glass of wine...never got it. My wife ordered a steak medium well with NO RED, and it was all red. Then it took at least 10 minutes for it to come back.....too late. She ordered an espresso...had to ask twice for it to arrive. Sorry, probably not coming back...and I am bummed about it

Had dinner here with friends for restaurant week . This is a very up scale restaurant but but don't think they were having a good night . First thing when we got there was to find out they were not having happy hour that night so we couldn't get a happy hour drink before dinner . ( Lost of money to them ) then service was slow . The menue on line said they had lamb but when we got there I found out there was an extra ten dollar up charge for the lamb. Which I had to return twice because it was very rare. My other two friends had to send their pork chops back also as they were to rare. Kim our waitress was great and did a good job in spite of everything else . The manager came around several times to check on things . I assume she was the manager , we did let her know how things went for the evening and she was very nice and understanding and comp the bottle of wine for us . Which was nice of her. Like I said this is a very up scale restaurant and always had a good experience there . Just an off night for them. The food was very good in spite of everything

A beautiful evening at J. Gilbert's again. We celebrated our sons 18 birthday and HS graduation. Maxwell was our skilled and so gracious server. Even our son remarked how good Max was, so nice. We started with the shareable chilled seafood that came with four sauces. Fabulous!I ordered off the price fixed three course menu. Wedge salad, 6oz filet, mash potatoes, asparagus and ended with crème brûlée. It was all memorable in the best way.

First time trying out J Gilbert's with hubby during restaurant week. Their offering is a much better value compared to other participating restaurants.Our waiter was extremely nice but the restaurant was very short staffed on a Saturday night. We ended u waiting 10-15mins to get served and between every dish.The food is ok but similar to affordable steakhouses. For the price point I would pay slightly more to dine at the rubys.

another great happy hour at J. Gilbert's. good prices for happy hour drinks and food. I had $12 pastrami wings (they have some cheap sliders, shrimp Durango, etc.). I love the wings. they're baked and then wood fire, not deep fried, so they're not greasy. added a side of creamed corn. excellent with chunks of bacon. the service was also outstanding, Caleb did a great job. J. Gilberts has one of the best happy hours in the area.

This was the perfect birthday dinner! We had a $25 off coupon to start with so figured why not give it a try, as it has been on our radar for some time. They had our reserved table set up all festive. Husband and I ordered sparkling water with our meal. (Their alcoholic beverages looked really good so I might try one next time). He had the wedge salad as a starter. They also have delicious homemade sourdough bread and a special butter with smoky spices and it was delicious! We both ordered the seafood dinner with shrimp, scallops, crab cake and salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was perfect. The sauce for the crab cake was good but I didn't really need it as the crab was so fresh and flavorful. I received a complimentary dessert for my birthday and we chose the chocolate velvet cake. This was to die for, so decadent! With a side of whipped cream and homemade raspberry ice cream we totally enjoyed it! Our service was excellent as well, our server Megan was very attentive, informative and prompt. Our anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks and we have already made reservations at our new favorite special occasion hot spot! We can't wait to go back! Til next time...

We got a reservation tonight thinking it would be less stress than actual Valentine's Day. We were seated promptly, made our drink orders. My old fashion was amazing, but my finance's TropicalBreeze was very watered down and had no flavor but they replaced after waiting for awhile. Our waters were empty at this point. We ordered the appetizer which was 2 crabcakes and while flavorful were extremely small (size of a golf ball) for the price.She got the 12oz sirloin and I ordered the Cowboy Cut Ribeye medium rare (which came out Medium) with truffle butter, I had asparagus and a loaded baked potato (they were out of sour cream). The four asparagus spears were hard as a rock and not edible and felt uncooked. We ate our food and when the server came back and boxed up our food he threw the ribeye bone with meat on it away and said yeah I tossed the asparagus because of how it was.Bill came and the asparagus wasn't comped. Needless to say we only saw our server at drink/app order, entree order and at bill time. For a $200 dinner I would expect better quality with cooking and service. Disappointed thinking they would want to provide a great experience on valentines weekend for all customers.When your customer leaves and only ate 1/4 of your top priced steak wouldn't you ask why?Poor and non existent service, food underwhelming, and management never stopped to check. Don't recommend

Went here for my Valentine's Day weekend with my husband and everything was a 10. From the bread to the appetizers to the entree! Definitely coming back ASAP!!! They have amazing lavender drops!

Service and ambiance are very appealing. Steaks and pork chops were superb. I am not fascinated with the side dishes. Cauliflower, green beans and corn were just ok and the scalloped potatoes were too spicy.. too much pepper.

I bring a large party every NYE here and they had a special this year if you bought a $100 gift card you get a free $20 gift card. So called to place a take out order and get here and they never put in the order. Waited over a half hour for our take out order with no apology. Not sure because we only spent $25 and $20 was on a gift card they did not care or what. Will not be bringing any large parties or myself here for a very long time.
