I visited Hoster Brewing with a couple of friends this afternoon. We arrived when the brewery opened. The brewery is situated in an industrial complex and parking is available. The interior has a unique look. There are booths, tables and the bar. Our bartender Ian was very friendly and provided great service.I started off with a flight, which included 4 5-oz. tasters. The brewery had around 12 available beers, so it was tough to choose. Among the 4 beers I ordered in my flight, the Gold Top (Dortmunder) was my favorite. All of the beers I tried had good flavor and were easy to drink. The brewery has a limited food menu. I chose to get a cheese pizza. The pizza was piping hot from the oven. It tasted pretty good. I also ordered a full sized Irish Red. Hoster Brewing offers some of the best beers in the Columbus area. I will certainly return to try more. I highly recommend this place for craft beer enthusiasts.

Hoster does their beer well. The styles have been on point for what they should be. Glad they were on this year's Ale Trail (we missed coming on the 23' Ale Trail as we had already finished by the time they officially opened. Hoster is definitely a new bright spot in the what might seem like a crowded Columbus area beer market. It's just different enough that I think they'll do well. There are several booths, 4 low tops (2 4s and 2 2s). Plus ten padded bar seats with backs. There is a dedicated railed area where you can step up to order that's right below the tap list on the wall. You can find hooks under the bar where you can hang items with a foot rail below. They have a popcorn machine and pretzels for free snacks. You can keep an eye on their social media for hours, what food trucks might be stopping by, and taproom happenings. In addition to fourteen beer taps they have different sodas and some sparkling water. Nachos and different nuts can also be purchased for snacking. Both times we've visited the folks working have been super friendly. You can find hooks under the bar where you can hang items with a foot rail below. There's a game nook inside and a patio area with picnic tables outside. Bathrooms: There are hooks for hanging things in the bathrooms that are gender non specific. The lock shows if it's occupied on the other side of the door. Great for knowing of the bathroom is occupied on not. You can find tampons and pads on the restrooms. And as a bonus ther a lift on the side of the seat so if you're a lift to pee person you don't have to touch the seat! Plus they even installed a catch tray for extra soap. It's a super well thought out bathroom!Bonus: dogs are welcome inside!

This may be my new favorite brewery in Columbus. It has amazing decor, I really want those chairs made from barrels. They have popcorn to snack on and dogs are allowed inside. We ordered a flight and were surprised when a dortmunder was our favorite. If we lived closer we would be there all the time!

Judging from the outside, you'd think that Hoster's inside was just another brewery. But then you walk in and BAM it's this quaint slice of Americana mixed with a pub. The feel is like the TV show Cheers. Peg games on every table and free pretzels upon request. Great touches. The Eagle Dark was my beer of choice and it was perfect. Outside there are patio seats and food trucks so this off-the-beaten-path brewery covers a lot of ground from a versatility standpoint. The bartenders (perhaps owners) are very knowledgeable about the legendary Hoster brand and were more than happy to share it with anyone at the bar who asked. Everything exceeded expectations.

My first micro beer experience was at their original location many, many years ago and sooo happy they have re-opened in the old Actual Brewing location. Love what they did to the place, a must stop!!

New on this year's Columbus Ale Trail but by no means a new name in Columbus, Hoster Brewing is an unassuming hole in the wall situated in what seems to be an otherwise desolate industrial park.I'll admit that I didn't know much about its namesake -- I'm only casually aware that it has existed in some form or another a few times over the last century or so -- but I can speak for this incarnation: of the six of us in the party, and every beer we tried was a cut above what's served in many of the city's taprooms. This quality paired with the complementary snacks, functioning jukebox, and cozy Americana-meets-Irish pub aesthetic (beware the whiplash of stepping in from the barren parking lot) marks this brewery as a true diamond in the rough and certainly a new favorite among our group from this year's passport. My only regret is that it was the middle child of the evening, as I could have easily spent our entire time here instead!

For those old enough to remember (and loved) the Hoster's Restaurant and Brewery in Brewery District, you'll be thrilled to know that a new Hoster's Brewing has opened on the east side. Close to the airport, this place is a hidden gem. When I say it's hard to find, I'm not kidding. 5th Ave. goes by the airport, and right before you go under the Stelzer Rd./James Rd. over pass, it's just off of 5th Ave., on N. James Rd., in a non-descriptive office complex. This adds to the mystique of this place. When you go inside, the bar looks a lot like an Irish pub, cozy and welcoming. Antiques from Hoster's noteworthy past are all over, and Tiffany-styled parrot lamps hang throughout. They have a jukebox, and the very friendly bartenders give you quarters to play classic tunes. They also offer free pretzels. The beers I tried were decent, but I went there specifically for Hoster's historic favorite, Gold Top. A dortmunder golden, this lager-style beer is a crisp and refreshing, especially on a hot day. I loved it 20 years ago, and I still do. They offer food via food truck in the parking lot, but we didn't try it. Looked to be stuff like brats and fried bologna sandwiches. It looked good. If you're into a speakeasy type place, with good beer, try this place out before everyone else is in on the secret.

It's a little out of the way, but once you get there look for the outdoor seats since the sign is only on the door. Saying this, the interior is great and inviting, the beer is very tasty, and the selection is excellent, every beer was solid, the Marzen and Czech Pilsner were my favorite. The Gold Top does not need any praises, it's great, so was Ian behind the bar, very friendly and attentive, making this a great time. Hours are a little challenging, if you want to visit during the week, since traffic of getting there, but definitely worth of visiting!
