I have used Ray Starkey on my last 3 home purchases. I wound never purchase a home without a home inspection. HOMESCAN is respected, on-time, professional and thorough. The reports is well documented with photos and complete.

As a Realtor I always know that when my clients chose HomeScan that it will be a very detailed inspection and also well communicated. Often times other home inspectors make big deals out of very minor issues to cover their own liability... which can cause deals to fall a part. They will let you know if an issue is an immediate fix, something to take care of soon, or something down the road when you have the extra money. Highly recommended.

Maltreated said it best. When something comes up, Ray is defensive. I never called him because it was clear he doesn't care or take pride in his work. Missed items at my new home as well. It's too bad that he gets his business from Realtors but mine is now aware of his lack of scrutiny in his inspections. I'd suggest notifying your Realtor too or telling them that you don't Home Scam.

This company was selected to inspect our home and we actually lost the buyer due to the inaccuracies ans false embellishments made by thisso-called "inspector". Mice do not leave "feces" they leave droppings.Window glass with an outside smudge was mis-marked as needing anew window. Terrible,terrible. This guy even went outside and suggestedthat in the dead of winter, a tree be trimmed back due to causing mild onthe condo brick. Never, in my experience of selling and buying 7 homeshave I ever seen such an over reach of judgement in trying to impressbuyers.. NEVER hire these people !!

Talk about great service! Ray from Homescan was out Monday to inspect the home we are purchasing. He was incredibly thorough, and took the time to walk me through the house, indicating areas of need. That same evening I received a detailed report of his findings, including photos for my reference. This is the second time I've used Homescan and I highly recommend them.

Our realtor recommended and disclosed relationship. We were treated extremely rudely by Ray and his office staff. His email responses to questions seemed nasty and condescending. They would not allow us to be present during a follow up inspection despite our offer to pay additional charges. Additionally, he missed many easy items, some examples include a disposal not working...turned out to be not wired; a front door strike plate missing and the gutters completely clogged ..and it was raining.

Homescan is a very through home inspection company serving the central ohio área for several decades, charges reasonable rates and provides a complete report showing any concern áreas found breaking down the inspection from roof to foundation, great company and i would highly reccomend them for any central ohio inspection needs!

Ray Starkey did our home inspection before we bought our new house. At the time, he was a lovely person, and we were really happy with the job he did. However, when we actually moved in, we found multiple leaks in the plumbing. We called a plumber and paid him $200 to fix the leaks; then I called Home Scan to try to figure out what had happened.As soon as Mr Starkey returned my call, he was on the defensive. He declared that he does the best work and would not stand for being told that he had not. I said that I wasn't making accusations, just trying to figure out what was going on. The plumber had said that the leaks were long-standing (he could tell by the amount of corrosion on the metal) and that the inspector should have seen the problems. I told Mr Starkey that I wasn't sure whom I should trust, when I get these two conflicting stories.Long story short, Mr Starkey ended the conversation by screaming at me that he had "f*ing had enough" and hung up on me. I called the office to tell them how I had been treated, and the secretary said, "Well, maybe he was having a bad day." She then put me on hold, and when she came back, she said that she'd have to get "both sides of the story". I asked to speak with a manager, and she said that Mr Starkey is the president of the company. Not a good impression from this company on its customers.

Ridiculous inspection of condo. Couldn't find any problems with the condo except some things such as dirty basement windows and bushes need trimmed. Stupid report! Don't waste your money with this company.

After the home inspection on the home that we have purchased they quoted us one price but charged $70 more than they quoted. After living in the house for a week we found out that the following items were not obviously functioning properly but were not listed on the report 1. Receptacle in the Living Room located horizontally inside of wood shelf to the right of the fire place does not have electric power.2.Kitchen faucet water pressure is extremely low and the faucet makes abnormal noise.3. Hot water takes way too long to heat up and does not reach normal hot water temperature in some locations after having adjusted water heater temperature to the highest set point. If these items were on the report that we trusted we would have the right to ask for a remedy. Now it's too late. Somebody must have the responsibility for the items not listed on the report that should have been listed.
