I keep hearing about this place and have been meaning to come. I was going to come for Restaurant Week last week, but was just too busy. So I swung by today, and: they've extended the restaurant week menu till the end of January (2025.) So I could've gotten that, but I ended up going with their lunch specials. $10 for assorted sandwiches basically, or for the soup and salad bar. Or, you can add that to an entrée for $5. The soup and salad bar isn't big enough on its own really, unless you are going to eat a ton of it. But as an add-on, it was perfect. I got the bierwurst lunch special. A mild sausage and fries. Pretty good sausage, nothing amazing. Pretty good fries. The salad was fresh, and there were enough toppings to make it interesting. They had potato soup and cheddar broccoli available, both very good versions. (I had hoped to try the chili.) The rest of the menu is very very interesting. Lots of things I want to try. Service was excellent from several people. The place is pretty cool inside, like a beer hall. Large and open, though with some booths along the side. German music playing. Plenty of good beers to choose from. Price was great, for the lunch specials anyway. Free parking at a garage right next door. I will definitely be back.

Apparently I'm still too "from the wrong side of Germany" to enjoy this particular flavor of ethnic restaurant There's more to Germany than Bavaria.Look, the food was great and surprisingly authentic (although sweet red cabbage is a little weird). I needed a taste of home today and I mostly got that, and I appreciate it.But between the oompa music and the aloof guy at the host desk and the confused-looking waitress in the way too short dirndl, this was just... uncomfortable. If you're opening a northern German restaurant with basically the same food and some basic Deutschrock on the speakers, please invite me to your grand opening? I just want to sit at a big table and eat fries smothered in mushroom gravy with a dark beer and a deck of cards. Please.

Food: The food here was delicious.- Munich Sampler: This was a nice sampler plate that comes with 2 sausages (both had a nice snap to them), potato salad, and sauerkraut. I'm not the biggest fan of sauerkraut but I enjoyed theirs. -Braised Classic Pork Shank: Omg the pork was super tender and fell right off the bone without any effort. The mashed potato was also really good. -Sauerbraten: Basically like a beef pot roast. It wasn't my favorite out of everything I got. The beef itself was super tender but I wasn't the biggest an of the sauce. -Potato Soup: Our server recommended this and this did not disappoint. It's a super hearty soup with potatoes, veggies, and little bacon bites. Perfect for the cold Ohio weather. -Beet, Apple, & Goat Cheese Salad: This salad was super refreshing with the balsamic vinaigrette. It really helps cut the grease from all the meat.Service: The staff was so nice. I didn't catch my waiters name, but she was super nice and accommodating. She checked up on us multiple times to make sure we were enjoying our meal and if we needed anything else. Parking: There's a FREE parking structure across that street.

After becoming a growler club member, i find this place to be a nice water hole. Staff are always willing to help and just to chitchat about your day, and their shift. The food is good, but really we come for beer.!

A German in Columbus has no excuse to refrain from a night at the Hofbrauhaus. My mother would be proud. She never made it here, but, we've managed a couple dozen visits on her behalf. Every meal here has been a masterpiece. All plated meticulously and served up in traditional Bavarian custom. Nice attention to detail. I've only had better Bavarian style in one other place in this country, so I'd say these people are doing something right.I've sampled close to 100% of the menu and haven't found a flaw. The bier is even authentic and smooth. Easy to get carried away and over indulge. Pro Tip: Show up in the first week of each month when they tap a fresh keg. They're within walking distance of lower.com stadium so we've met here a few times after the Columbus Crew soccer match. Understand that on Friday and Saturday nights they only stay open until 11:00pm and 12:00am, respectively. The kitchen, however, closes at 10:00pm both nights. Ohio Germans might drink into the wee hours, it just won't be here! 10/24

I visited the Hofbrauhaus in my Ale Trail journey and I can't wait to go back! It has a great ambiance and took me straight back to Deutschland with the decor, the serving staff outfits, and the community tables. Service was great, my waitress was amazing, friendly, and helpful!Breakfast Skillet made up of Black Forest Ham over a Potato Pancake, Swiss Cheese, Bier Cheese sauce, Tomatoes, Smoked Bacon, and a Sunny Side-Up Egg. Everything combined perfectly and was so flavorful!

I looooove Hofbrauhaus when I can go without their live music. Their live music definitely transports you to a German beer hall, but it's too loud and busy for me to feel comfortable. During their off-hours, though? I absolutely love the German vibe, the delicious pretzels, and the beers here. PROS:-Their pretzels and beer cheese are absolutely delicious. I wish I could find a way to keep the pretzels warm for the entire meal (pretzel 1 and 2 are hot, but by the time I make it to pretzel 3 and 4, they're cold), but I do love the entire meal. I rarely try anything else just because the pretzels and beer cheese are so good. -Their beer flavors are very approachable. They each feel very "distinct" with the style it is, but they aren't anything wild or off-the-wall. This can be a really cool way to really compare and contrast different styles and figure out what you enjoy. -Large quantities of beer also end up being pretty affordable here. I can't count the amount of times we've "upgraded" to a liter pour because it was only an extra $1 from the half-liter. -Their Black Forest Cake is ridiculously good too. -They do have a brunch for some breakfast foods if you have friends who aren't heavy into German cuisine. -They have a huge indoor area (lots of TVs muted and playing sports) and a large beer patio. Both are comfortable to sit in. Lots of bathrooms, and I've never seen them concerningly dirty. -There's a parking garage (that's free) across the street. Very easy parking - though this garage can get full during peak hours since nearby businesses also use it. (Speaking of, if you REALLY enjoy yourself at Hofbrauhaus, there's a hotel across the other street.)-Servers have always been cordial, at a minimum. They're often running a lot of tables (and occasionally, very drunk patrons) at once, but when they have the time, they're usually very friendly. I've always had great service here. CONS:-This place can be LOUD. If you come during peak hours or when they have live music, expect a rambunctious atmosphere with people standing on chairs, tables, and dancing. If you're there for that, that's cool, but most definitely do not plan a talk-focused date night on those nights. It's even hard to make it to the bathroom to pee. -Their beer list is relatively small. You have their 3 staples, and then they have a monthly beer. This isn't a huge taplist compared to other beer-focused establishments. -They have a few booths, but a lot of their seating is the communal, beer-hall tables and benches. The benches do move independently from the tables, though, so you can give yourself the room you need.

Had a vegan burger here. Great fries, meh burger. Not a fan of cumin in my burger. They should offer beyond or impossible "meat" for a satisfying vegan burger. Now set all that aside. If you come here it should be for great beer and other delicious German cuisine. I saw great tankards of beer and huge potato pancakes coming out of the kitchen. I really came here because nothing else was open and they had a vegan item or two on the menu so you should totally ignore this review as I am an atypical customer for a fine establishment like this. Decor is biergarten, servers are dressed like Rhein maidens. There are old tymie photos covering the walls. Come here with a party! If you love beer and brats... welcome home!

We came in for a Saturday evening dinner with reservations, and got seated quick. Good food, great beer! We got the Hofbrau Original beer, an order of bratwurst, and the pretzel ham and cheese sandwich. However, there wasn't any live entertainment, and our waiter seemed to forget about us after the food was brought out. Not a huge deal but we had a much better experience at the Pittsburgh location last year. Still a good place to come and get the German experience.

Usually I would never visit here without having something with their Bier cheese because its so good but on this visit we just wanted a couple beers and some dessert. The oktoberfest was good and I like trying the flavor options they have throughout the year. Right now it was lemon, peach or raspberry additions to their hefe. We also tried the trimisu cream puff which was really nice, perfect flavor. There was also live music during our visit so a very lively atmosphere.
