Hawks Nest Pub

Hawks Nest is under new management and it's evident. While the inside of the gas station has received some updates (even tho it's always hot now and occasionally Smokey), it seems like some overall service AND customer service is now severely lacking. My recent take out was 50% jacked up. The poppers looked like someone threw them against the wall before putting them in the box. Enter at your own risk.

Menu is "eh". My husband loves it but everything is fried. I know it's bar food but I'm left feeling like sh*t usually lol. Their beer selection is huge which was awesome and they had some hard-to-find-beers which we thought was cool. There is a jukebox and lots of TVs making this a great game-day spot.

Hawks Nest is a good surprise in Alexandria. It's attached to a freaking gas station. That's not enough to make you think twice then good for you. It's better than you expect. Mostly because of the craft selection on tap. It has a massive amount of beers on tap,including many from local breweries. It's about $3.50 a pint for most. The breweries include Millersburg, Rhinegheist, and Wolfs Ridge. It's crazy to think this bar in this small town has this much. They somehow find the room. I had a Wolfs Ridge High Banks. The food is more of what you expect. I had some pretzel bites. These are about $5 for a basket full. It's a good stop if you're going through Alexandria. It's by far the most interesting thing around here. The gas station is attached so you can fill up here too.

Great beer selection, good vibes in here. If you live out this way, you'll probably see someone you know if you stay for more than one beer. Don't sleep on the grub here either. I've had the burger, served on a super soft Kaiser bun, good flavor. But the real deal is their Italian sub! We were so surprised the first time we had it. Not sure if the bread is made in house, but it tastes like it. If you're familiar with what the Donato's Big Don sub USED TO BE, this is similar! Really freakin good! Check it out, but don't tell too many people!

First of all we've been coming here for about 2 years and have never had a problem until today. I called in an order on my way home from work and you would have thought I was speaking Chinese. The girl kept getting my order wrong and then rudely said, "Ma'am I can't even hear you". So then I switched to my phone from my car's speaker and went over my order again. I started to give her my name and -click! She apparently didn't want to deal with me anymore. I arrived and went into the bar side. The bar tender said that you get pick up orders on the gas station side, then added, quite rudely, "There's like, a great big sign?" I just walked out and didn't bother with her anymore. So then here was the order I gave:Pizza 1: Mushrooms and yellow peppersPizza 2: Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms Pizza 3: Same toppings as #2 but with garlic sauceWings: Mix BBQ and buffalo saucesHere's what we got:Pizza 1: PEPPERONI AND GREEN PEPPERS!Pizza 2: CorrectPizza 3: No sauce at allWings: BBQ sauce only, dried out and overcooked and I had to remind them about my celery and blue cheese and when I did the slightly older girl just shoved them at me and didn't say anything.Two vapid girls who barely looked old enough to work informed me that they don't have yellow peppers but they do have banana peppers. I mean, DUH.When I informed her that yellow peppers ARE banana peppers, she simply said, "Oh. Soreeeeee!". A slightly older girl, who In assuming was a manager, offered to remake my pizza. I told her never mind because I am diabetic and had to eat. I despise pepperoni but ate it anyhow. Very disappointing. Doubt we'll be back unless there is a huge change in service.

Well, surprise surprise surprise.. I have heard about this place from friends. Not a place I would normally go to or stop by to try. It's located by a gas station, no its connected to the gas station. Very shocked to see how well designed it was and clean. Greeted as we came in and all three bartender's were nice and had so many opinions on what to try...very friendly! The beer choices were awesome! I like cider and they had alot to choose from. The food was good, had one of their specialty sandwiches, which was made with pizza crust.... YUMThis place will shock you so try it out for yourself...

This bar is located in the old mechanics bays of a gas station in Alexandria. 30 beers on Tap!!!! We didn't eat. It the food they brought out looked really yummy. TVs for watching sports, pool table, open air seating on one side. Waitress was great!Parking in the back! Would go back to try their pizza which looked and smelled delicious.

Cox nest has an awesome beer selection. Food is slightly above a typical bar food selection. Very friendly staff and the local community patrons are also very nice.

Not bad for a local's bar. The night we went the bar folks were very slow at their jobs. Seemed like it was their first day at the job. May try again sometime. Food wasnt bad for bar food. Got crowded and loud as the night went on but not crazy.

The good....great beer selection....great, unique atmosphere. Great people.The mediocre... .bar food....deep fried GFS standard bar food. The bad....service has sucked for a long time now. Waitresses need prompted to refill your long time empty beer. They walked past us many times ignoring our empties and chatting with their friends.Oh well, we'll be back till something better comes along.
