My review of HARU The first Omakase bar in Columbus, OhioFirst CourseRed Miso Soup - So flavorful! Wonderful fish essence without being overly fishy. The delicate pieces of fish melt in your mouth.Shirakabegura - The sweet undertones of this sake really come through and complement the soup nicely, enriching the entire dish.Second CourseAma Ebi - Sweet and salty, like the sea.Buri - Lightly spicy and smoky.Mejina - The wasabi really comes through--light, fresh, and clean.Gimlet (Junmai Nigori) - Very fruity and floral! The presentation was beautiful!Third CourseIsaki - Earthy, citrusy, lots of texture.Masunosuke - Beautiful, light, crunchy, and packed with flavor!Madai - Smoky and salty, with flavors that keep developing.Daimon - Not as sweet but full of flavor. When paired with Madai, it brought out its natural sweetness.Fourth CourseUnagi - My favorite bite so far! Perfectly balanced--sweet and salty with a satisfying crunch and umami from the nori.Hon Maguro - Very well-balanced, perfectly salted.Smoked Sawara - So buttery, so garlicky, so tender--it lingers on the palate. My second favorite bite.Brooklyn Kura - Pairs so well with this course! Sweet (but not too sweet) and fruit-forward.Monkfish Liver - Smoky, marinated in red wine and kombu, with a lingering heat from the spice--enough to warm the lips without overwhelming the palate. The flavors continued to develop long after the bite was gone. Absolutely incredible! I had never tried this before, but it was undoubtedly my favorite bite of the evening.Final Bites(I was so impressed I forgot the sake because I was in bliss!)Toro - So fatty, so decadent--an explosion of flavor.Black Throat Sea Perch - Smoky, full of delicious flavors and textures. The wasabi pairs perfectly with the smoke.Wagyu - So smoky and packed with umami! Sweet, incredibly tender, and complemented beautifully by the eel sauce--a classic pairing for A5.The chef is truly curating something extraordinary here, adding his own spin and expertise to each course. This experience was not only fun and exciting but also packed with new flavor combinations, enhanced by an expertly curated sake pairing that was to die for.Not only was this the best meal I've had in Columbus, Ohio, but it rivals the omakase bars I've visited in New York City. The service was absolutely stellar--great attention to detail, a friendly and attentive staff, and deep knowledge of the menu. I don't often give five-star ratings, but this experience unquestionably deserves one.My advice: Make a reservation well in advance and request seating at the chef's table!

We really enjoyed our first visit to Haru. I've realized that I prefer modern fusion omakase over the more "traditional" style, and Haru delivered on that preference. The fish was incredibly fresh, and we enjoyed every dish--even the mackerel, which I usually don't like. The experience was on par with similar ones I've had in bigger cities, and I found the pricing reasonable. The interior is thoughtfully designed, with lighting near the chefs that wasn't too bright. We were promptly seated at the omakase counter, and the servers were friendly and thorough in explaining the courses and pairings. It was a nice touch to chat with the sushi chefs about each dish. They mentioned that the menu changes seasonally, roughly every 4-6 weeks (if I recall correctly). Reservations are essential, as they're typically booked about a month in advance. Be sure to reserve on OpenTable, where you can view availability for counter seating and provide a credit card to hold your spot.

From the melt-in-your-mouth salmon and fresh buttery uni to the perfectly balanced sake pairings, every bite is thoughtfully curated. The service is attentive and elevates the experience without feeling overbearing. Our server Carrie was fantastic. For a refined and unforgettable dining adventure in Columbus, Haru Omakase is not to be missed.

All I can say is WOW! We had reservations for this place for several weeks now and it was so worth the wait! This was the best sushi I've had in a long time. We sat at the bar and watched the magic happen and learned from the chef about the restaurant's origin story and how the fish is obtained. My favorite bites of the night were the ama ebi (sweet shrimp), Masunosuke (king salmon), and jo uni (sea urchin). I don't think I would have ever ordered some of the other sushi had I ordered a la carte, so I was happy Haru gave me the opportunity to enjoy such a wonderful meal!

The first omakase experience in Columbus has finally opened! If you do not know, omakase means "up to you" and is really much a chef curated menu. Here, you get 10 pieces + dessert for $89 which is a pretty good deal. "But fish in the Midwest?" You might ask. The fishes are actually really fresh and I love how creative they are. This is no traditional sushi but they add a certain modern spin to it resulting in very well balanced pieces. This might not be the best sushi I've ever had in my life but it is definitely one of the best you can get in Columbus!Definitely swing by sometime!

Came here over the weekend to try out their omakase! I've always had omakase when I travel to NYC, I would say the prices for this is higher than the ones in NYC. It's $79 for 1 aappetizer, 8 sushi and 1 dessert. Sushi by bou has 12 course for $65 plus occasional coupons too. Sushi wise, my favorite would be the first course. The squid bowl is on point! Portion size is alright, the curry one would probably be one of the better one on their course. Their sushi does taste alittle too fishy. it would have been nicer if that had more dessert option. Maybe a second dessert available for people who doesnt like Creme Brule.. I personally like thirteen waters most! But NYC is quite a far drive...

Located on Polaris Parkway, Haru Omakase serves up amazing Omekase, (a chef-curated dinner, famous for its direct interactions with the chef). The customer leaves the order details to the sushi chef. The word Omakase is Japanese and translates to "I'll leave it up to you". The service was top notch; the sushi was unique, delicious and presented so beautifully. This is definitely an experience I would highly recommend. I also recommend asking about the wine or sake pairings, make reservations, and ask to sit at the Omakase bar, you'll thank me later. The menu tours start at $79 for an incredible multi-course meal and will have you wanting to come back again.I asked how often the menu would change and was told it would be updated appropriately every six weeks. I can't wait to see how this menu develops over time.Don't forget to tell them: recommended by @ohiofoodie614 on IG.

It's so exciting to finally have an omakase place in Columbus! The food was so good - the favorites were definitely the salmon (with caviar!) and the Spanish mackerel. The sake pairing menu is definitely something I'd want to try next time, although the Yuzu sake was probably my favorite from the current menu. They also have uni and other premium nigiri/sushi for add-ons as well! The service was also super nice and always took the time to explain each tour as well as all their drinks. The restaurant isn't super big so definitely recommend reservations. They change their menu every six weeks so we will definitely be back to try the new one soon!

An absolutely incredible experience! Highly recommend sitting at the bar if you can! Having the experience to sit and talk with the chef was definitely special. The food was incredible, we will definitely be going back to try Chef Yudi's other tasting menus. We added the Sake tasting menu to our experience, and it also did not disappoint. They mentioned that this also changes with the tasting menu. We were able to also try the Uni as an add on, and it was also incredible. The ambiance was also really nice, loved all of the little touches that they added to the place.
