This famous, national train show travels from state-to-state, hitting about 30 major cities and parking itself in Columbus for two days in February. I am not into trains, but I give the expo four stars based on the fact it is the largest traveling model train show in the country and is well-known among collectors as one of the best. Plus, it's kind of cool to see so many- especially the older, vintage models- all under one roof. The Great Train Expo features model railroads, train dealers, collectors, hands-on exhibits, demonstrations, and workshops. Train enthusiasts have the chance to see a variety of operating model railroad layouts in many different scales and gauges. If you want to sell an old toy train or get an appraisal, you can shop your item around to the multiple dealers. If you are in the market to buy, you'll find everything from soup to nuts, including HO Scale, N Scale, Lionel, G Gauge, Z Scale, American Flyer, hobby tools, die-cast vehicles, train whistles, scenery items. Dealers not only carry railroad bits and baubles, but also Railroadiania Slides, t-shirts, videos, books and general railroad gift items.Local model railroading clubs are also represented.
