En Lai Chinese Restaurant

I just had my first experience at this restaurant, and wow, it was fantastic! I decided to order takeaway online, which usually makes me a bit anxious. Living about 20 minutes away, I kicked it into high gear and headed out right after placing my order. I went for the cashew chicken, making sure to specify no green pepper--something I always do since getting it right is a bit of a gamble! To my absolute delight, this time it came out perfectly. Seriously, it was the best cashew chicken I've ever had!The portions are generous, meaning I'm set for at least two meals from this one order, and can we talk about the pricing? It's incredibly affordable! The restaurant itself is a breath of fresh air--neat, clean, and well-organized. Plus, there's plenty of parking right out front. If you're in the mood for some delicious Chinese food, do yourself a favor and check this place out! And let me tell you about the menu... it's bursting with options! If you can't find something to fall in love with here, that's on you peeps!

En Lai is obviously a take-out place, but they have tables in side for those that want to eat there. I found the staff there to be very kind, attentive, and polite, but like many Chinese restaurants, not overly chatty. They were obviously busy, but took the time to be polite and explain menu items. When I was leaving, they made it a point to say goodbye, and thanked me for coming. I had the General TSO's chicken and wonton soup. The wontons in the wonton soup were very good. The soup broth itself was fine, but nothing to write home about. The General Tso's had a different flavor than I am used to when I ordered General Tso's. That is not to say it was bad! In fact, I rather enjoyed it! I would happily order it again. The chicken was not fatty or chewy, and the batter was nice and light and crispy.This was a good meal for a reasonable price! Best egg rolls in the United States. I always compare greasy Americanized Chinese food to En Lai and they are always the best.

This is my 2nd review. It is obvious that making money is more important than maintains the quantity and quality of their product. We kept several cary out containers over the years and although their prices have gone up the quantity of food has gone down. Also they won't give you broccoli in the general chicken unless you ask for it first. You get a lot more for your money at Royal Buffet.

Food can be hit and miss. Sometimes it's great others it tastes like the oil they use is old. Not the cleanest place and the lady at the front counter is normally pretty rude. If there were other places in town this one would close just because of customer service alone.

This place has the best Chinese food! The employees or owners are not outgoing or friendly but when the food is this phenomenal and you're not dining in, who cares. Perhaps they just don't understand our culture. I never expected to find the best Chinese I've ever had in a hillbilly drug infested town like Kenton, Ohio.

Unfortunatly the word I would choose to sum up our first visit would be underwhelming. While the portions (small shrimp in lobster sauce with rice & large beef with vegetables & rice) were filling, the meals themselves were so-so. Considering the fried rice reminded us of types available in the frozen at the grocery store, we probably will not give them another try too soon.

I like to order in Chinese food. I didn't realize that two of the Chinese restaurants deliver. I was very happy with the one I always use but thought I'd try En Lai for a change. I ordered online and waited...and waited...nearly three times longer than the projected wait time.I called after the first hour and asked about my order. I was hung up on three times because I didn't talk loud enough (amazing, they knew how to answer my questions when they couldn't understand me!) My bill came to $18.20 Including tip. I gave him a $20, he reached into his change bag, pulled out one dollar to hand to me and said he didn't have change. He said, "Is that okay?" "No, that definitely is Not okay." He rummaged in his own pocket, pulled out a handful of change, said "Here's 50 cents," put the rest of the change back in his pocket, adding 30 cents, against my will, to the tip I'd already paid. And he took off! I had ordered Crab Rangoon, Shrimp Lo Mein with a notation to Undercook the shrimp, as I always do at Royal Buffet with no problem. The crab Rangoon was cream cheese Rangoon without even the smell of crab. The shrimp I wanted undercooked were like leather. I only tasted each to decide if it would pass and decided not. After being robbed at the door at "egg roll point," and being hung up on a few times, I decided I'd return the food today and demand all of my money back included the little thief's tip! It's mid afternoon so I knew it would be quieter there and maybe no excuses about not hearing me. I called and asked a woman for the manager. She kept shouting, "Who are you!" I kept saying I'm a customer and wished to talk to the manager. When he came on the line, I asked his name, as I always do to start a conversation. He argued with me about not giving his name and hung up on me. I called back and this time, the thief delivery guy answered the phone and said He was the manager. Then went back to, "I can't Hear you! Lala Lala!" I said if someone didn't listen to me I'd just call the police for his stealing my change and absconding with it. By now I was just having some dark 'fun.' He relayed the message to those in the kitchen, I heard their answers which he relayed to me. Go ahead and call the police. If you want to eat leather shrimp, crabless Rangoon, be treated rudely if there's a problem and be robbed by paying cash at the door to a man with a cash pouch who has no change, have at it. Me? I'm going back to the great people at Royal Buffet. My question about trying a different place is now answered.

We frequently visit. The good is very good & reasonable. It's on the east side of Kenton.

orderd online. order total came to 48.00 (rounding up the change).food came close to time. ALL FOOD WAS COLD. not one item was still warm.very dissatisfied
