Empanadas and More

The owner charges taxes on their food, which they don't have to pay in Ohio. He is just stealing 7.5% extra from his customers. He claims it is a tax on their "containers". What a crook.

Empanadas were fried which was a plus. Not a lot of meat for the price. Rice seemed to be an afterthought . The empanadas I'm used to have a more doughy texture. The casing reminded me of a fried wonton. Not what I expected and was really in the mood for a more familiar empanada. The menu is a little confusing as well. Seeing the truck got me excited. I'm glad I tried it once.

Food is not as described on their menu. For the food, 1 star. The menu describes the empanadas as having the meat, minced garlic, and herbs inside. What I actually got was one empanada and one open empanada both of which only had meat, nothing else. The rice and beans were were also cold and clumpy. For service, also 1 star. My order was placed and accepted 40 minutes ahead of time and was still more than 10 minutes late being ready despite no other customers even being around the truck.Definitely not worth $18

I should have came here first instead of street food finder. I have been wanting to try this food truck for quite some time, when I finally did yesterday evening, I was very excited to only be disappointed, let's get to the food.Ultimate ComboThe chicken empanada was not the star dish, the chicken was overcooked and extremely salty, the rice and peas had a good texture, perfectly seasoned , yet sort of dry. The salad was just that, a salad, nothing fancy, and it was close to being a day old, with a lot of brown edges. My recommendation: The should have put more thought into, add some color, cilantro avocado, sliced tomatoes, would have been great. Lastly, the plantains were the best :) absolutely no complaints, caramelize and tasted perfectly . I had high hopes for the empanadas sucks they were horrible.

Absolutely Terrible: After having empanadas in Puerto Rico I was excited to see this at the food truck rally in Detroit today. What a disappointment. Thought I ordered 2 orders of the single combo +extra empanada (which is a dumb name to begin with, just call it a double empanada) charged $24. Now mind you there are no prices on there menu and they weren't accepting the coupons that they had a sign in the window of the truck saying they were accepting. Received order and said we're missing an order and the girl said oh ok we will make it right away. She then gives me an order of plantains. I asked where the other order was and she says that's it. An Empanada and plantains costs $12.00 and an extra empanada costs $9.00. $9.00 for an empanada? Are you kidding me?Told her to forget it. The Chorizo empanada was awful. It was completely green inside and so salty it was inedible. Looked like it was all sofrito and no chorizo. Service and food awful. They were out of beef empanadas 2 hours into the event. Way overpriced.

Rice was dry and unflavored, the Cheesesteak Empanada had a weird after taste and low on filling (3 pieces of small steak and one pepper) ingredients. This all left me to only eating a few bites (especially due to the weird taste) and disposing of roughly 80% of the remainder of the meal.​ The highlight was fries, but not the main dish. I truly wish it would have been better.

Absolutely disgusting... empanadas filled with practically no meat, and apparently several ounces of salt. Salt was the only flavor. Rice was mushy, and drastically overpriced even if it was good.

Just left this place empty handed. My husband and I tried to get dinner tonight from this place and the guy at the counter was too busy flirting with the girls in front of us to acknowledge that we were in line. I guess it's not a huge surprise given there wasn't a line. In a nutshell, don't waste your time.

First time trying this at my job. Perhaps they were having an off couple of hours because this was not very tasty or flavorful at all. Some of the driest bean and rice I have ever had and the empananda was greasy and bland. It's unfortunate that you only have one time to make a good first impression because this was horrid. Will not be recommending to my family and friends.

Terrible. The flavor was like burnt plastic from the grease. Beside the meat was very salty. I hate to waist the money in bad food.
