After years traveling overseas in Latin America and South America, it was so hard to come back to Columbus and not tap into an authentic Mexican or South American environment. Everything eventually becomes USA-ified to meet the demands of most people here. Finally, El Tulipan Grocery Store transported me back to salsa dancing in Mexico City, the mom and pop restaurants in Guajira, the interconnected family environment we love to feel apart and wish we had grown up in -- they bring you right to the center of something of origin, heritage, and hopefully a restaurant that will refuse to be changed or updated.Tulipan is perfect the way it is. Please dont come here with any demands, complaints, or cause these dear people any stress with overly critical reviews. Its a blessing to stumble through the sidewall into a "speakeasy" gem of a restaurant like this.Im so glad I finally found I was looking for in Columbus.

This place was hidden for me for all these times. Looks like a grocery store but it's a restaurant attached to it. Went out for lunch and found out to be outstanding. The ambience is kind of crowded, people busy taking out, eating, taking order and cooking. It took few minutes for my order to be taken- another 15 minutes to prepare and I consumed it to entirety in next 20 minutes. Food was top quality, delicious and seemed authentic. Very tasty and served with perfection. The sauces kept on the table were perfect combination for the Mexican food. Overall great food. Highly recommend in the area looking for authentic Mexican food and grocery.

Ok so let me first say, when I first moved to the Near East Side of Columbus as a "Native" of California, it was imperative that I find a Mercado Mexicano o Latine. Meaning, there were certain foods only a Mexican or Latine speciality mom and pop were going to carry that I NEEEEEEDED! El Tulipan is small as heck, but con mas fuerza. They come through solidly as an Ethnic/Speaciality grocery from the meat cuts, cheeses, fresh tortillas, and fresh made juices (if you know you know). The restaurant is authentic, affordable, memorable, reliable and most importantly delicious even via delivery! The cuts of meat make me so happy, and the portions are on point. If you love REAL tacos-- you need El Tulipan in your life. La verdad. They have a good amount of parking-- easiest to enter coming directly from Nelson versus turning in off Livingston (you might fly past it).

Super kind family serving delicious homemade food ! Plus we love walking into the grocery , grabbing a cold one out of the market side to have with our meal ! I didn't take photos this time but trust me the soups are wonderful, loved all the tacos tried! But their Al pastor burrito is a favorite of mine ! Super chill location with friendly service, what's not to love !

I never liked fast food mexican chain "restaurants". Growing up from an Italian family who lived and some were raised in Argentina - I grew up with a lot of Hispanic homemade cooking. When I first moved to Columbus, OH - it took me a while to find authentic Mexican cooking. Embarrassed to admit, El Tulipan Grocery Store is just a few minutes ride from my home, I ignored it for 2 years! Then one day, out of curiosity, I stepped inside and was pleasantly surprised they have a little corner to dine. I had tacos and it was delicious. Came back and had Gorditas, delicious. My friends loved their generous burrito. My neighbor and I frequent this family-owned store/dining a lot. So glad to have this close to my home. They accept pick up and deliveries. There was a nasty accident from some careless driver that smashed into their store last year. It took them a long time to have it fixed and they were able to expand it and now the dining establishment is spacious. Check it out, support your local authentic Mexican restaurant. Parking is available at the plaza. Cheers!

We stopped in to get lunch today. Had heard they have tables which they do but the space is very tiny so we ordered takeout. We got a burrito (it was huge with lots of meat), a torta and a Gordita. Everything was delicious and authentic. They have tacos, tamales, wings and more. Also a kids menu. Parking in the front. Did I mention it is also a grocery.
