This winery was further out than we anticipated. We arrived and it was larger than expected. A lot of assumptions. When you walk inside you get the feel that the place is out in the middle of nowhere and they like BigFoot.Arrived and was provided a list of different wines. What is unique about this place the wines aren't considered meads. Meads are made from honey, but they offer wine infused by honey. In addition, meads are sweet, these were not sweet, they were actually dry wines infused with honey. So much different. They had small foods available. Good services and nice people.

The beautiful setting is just the beginning. My wife and I sat on the patio and sampled several of the Honey Wines and ate a hot, delicious oven baked fresh pizza. While I really enjoyed the Honey Mead, my wife's favorite was the Strawberry Dreams. The wine slushies also went very well with the pizza. Brandon and the entire staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. You could tell they had a passion for what they were doing. The beautiful location just outside of Athens makes it well-worth the drive.

I love honey wine! Wine produced from grapes may be more popular but limited, imo. Dutch Creek Winery has accomplished something very special in honey wine production that brings their vintages into the dry category, a galaxy where few wineries dare to explore. I have brought several of my grape wine loving friends to Dutch Creek and they all leave pleasantly surprised with purchased bottles in hand. Love this winery's location too. Enough away from the hustling college town to provide a calm and pleasant experience, yet very convenient to the local restaurants to make for a lovely first course to your evening's meal. I can't say enough good things about this unique winery. Their bee to bottle process rivals any other wineries I've visited, which includes those of Germany and Italy that we have enjoyed. Yelp needs to create a special category just for Dutch Creek Winery.

Ugh, not even sure how to review this place! They have put themselves in such an odd spot, in my opinion. So far out away from everything yet so close to a college town. I really think they are shooting themselves in the foot by mislabeling their business. We went in thinking it was a winery. (As labeled) It's not. It's a meadery. Two different things. ALL of their wines are made with honey. Meads are not everyone's cup of tea, so to speak. And personally, being so close to a college, I would consider adding some more straight forward wines. this location boarders one of the poorest counties in Ohio.....just not sure this is the right spot for such a niche business. My husband has been a wine maker since 07 and this was our 91st individual winery to visit. So I'm kind of talking from experience. And it's usually my experience that after doing a tasting, we get a bottle or 3 to take home. In this case, we just went home. I went with 3 stars instead of two because of the beautiful setting here. Lots of outdoor room for picnics and events. Good luck!

My husband and I are definitely beer drinkers, so we've passed by this place for too long. Live music tempted us to stop by, and boy are we glad we did. A good selection of wines and, and an IPA for the hubby. But seriously, the charcuterie board is fantastic. I'm not sure why is so hard for places to get that right, but DCW has nailed it. It's worth the drive for that alone. They are also doing a pizza now. We haven't tried it yet, but the same chef who is doing that charcuterie needs to be trusted.
