Donkey Coffee & Espresso

No matter how much time elapses between visits, one thing remains the same - the quality of Donkey Coffee.I took my wife around Ohio University, and Donkey was on my list for places she had to experience from my time at OU. I had a delicious latte. Tasty, bold, and wonderful to look at! My wife had an iced white chocolate raspberry latte, and she raved about it. She also loves the Donkey vibe - eclectic yet relaxing. It was such a nice morning at this coffee shop!

Definitely "donkey"...Just stopped in and ordered two brevé lattes. We didn't receive 1/2 n 1/2 (brevé); We certainly paid extra but we got regular milk. The milk is overly steamed, as it's burned or perhaps the milk was spoiled. The drinks are gross, the coffee is nasty... my guess is you can fool a bunch of college kids that have no idea what good coffee tastes like. First time stopping in Athens, there is no f'ing way this is the best coffee shop in Ohio or 3rd best in America. They couldn't make a simple brevé latte.Maybe if you can convince all these people in Athens it's good they'll believe it. It's a "no"!

This was a must stop for me on my trip to Athens. Nothing completes an Athens morning without going to Donkey coffee. Delicious coffee, good prices, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. It's everything you could want in a coffee shop. Plenty of seats to study or do work or meet with friends.

Stopped by this place this morning with some friends. It wasn't too packed but you could tell that it is a local favorite. The baristas was very friendly and patient when taking our orders. I got the power chai and a bagel. My drink was very tasty but for some reason gave me a stomach ache by the end. Maybe it was the sugar? Besides that it was very tasty. My bagel was also good but they never asked if I wanted it warm/toasted. I'm not sure if they have that capability or not, but it was still good cold, just weird. The place has good prices, nice vibes, and plenty of space for groups. Overall I'd come back to try more.

I was in Athens on work, stopped by this coffee shop in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. Everyone working was very nice, and the chai latte was delicious! Great place to stop in for a beverage if you are in the area, pretty extensive menu.

In a little college town. Brewed coffee which is good and good service. Cobblestone streets are neat in the area. Fairly priced.

Cute coffee shop with way more seating than I originally thought! Came here with my whole family and we found enough room for all 11 of us sit comfortably in their covered balcony upstairs. The lines can get a little long (especially with our group!), but some of us used their mobile order and pay option and we didn't have to wait too long. My smoothie was delicious and others enjoyed their coffee and pastries. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town!

Donkey coffee is my go-to working spot whenever I'm near Ohio University or in Athens, Ohio, in general. The staff are always attentive and happy to help. The back room is a lovely place to put on some headphones and get lost in your own little world. I've gotten so much writing done here - they should really be a coauthor on all my manuscripts!

My heart belongs at Donkey Coffee. When I was a grad student, Donkey was a staple of my study sessions. Decades later (oof), I have the opportunity to come back to Athens a few times a year for work and make a point of stopping in. The staff are incredibly friendly and fun to chat with. The coffee is great and they offer a wide variety of drinks, flavors, and milk alternatives. The vanilla power chai with oat milk is my favorite - hot or iced - but their seasonal drinks are always worth checking out. This is definitely a spot worth checking out and planning to stay for a bit. Catch an open mic night or catch up with friends - Donkey is a gem of the Athens community.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this place... something feels amiss. This is one of those places everyone insists you must try in Athens, but I'm not incredibly impressed. Maybe it is my disdain for the stereotypical college coffee shop clientele or my lack of humor. REVENGE OF THE MICROBANG!!! FEAR THE CRUNCHY HIPSTER!!!! I can hear everyone's internal monologue. And I'm tired of hearing about their cat and their friends band and the new incense they got. Coffee was fine! I haven't had a bad experience, but this place is not for me. It just feels judgmental and passive aggressive. Most people in here should go find themselves a job and check on that white privilege they're always gossiping about.
