What a great experience...Super impressed that they got everything so right. The restaurant has a nice decor - not too much but just enough to make it feel homey and clean. Dining at Der Dutchman is always a place on consistently prepared great food. The salad bar has a selection of all kinds of selections, toppings, and dressings. The hot food buffet always has at least three meats including broasted chicken and several sides to compliment any meal choice. Ordering off the menu is also very good. Servers are attentive and warmly friendly. The dining area while open has a great view out the rear glass windows overlooking the farms and countryside. Visiting here for meals for over 20 years has proven this as a consistently delicious choice to eat at.

We really enjoyed our time eating at the Der Dutchman restaurant. It is a pretty unique experience, alot of the staff are Amish or Mennonite. I ordered the dark meat broasted chicken with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. My son got the chicken tenders with sweet potato fries. My wife got the meat loaf with dressing and Mac and cheese. The restaurant is nicely decorated and parking was pretty simple

A legendary place and a must visit when in Walnut Creek. I promise you, you won't leave hungry! Food is either buffet style or made to order. Service is friendly and the ambiance is kinda rustic.

This was my first time eating in Amish Country, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Der Dutchman is a huge restaurant and it was full even at 2:30 for a late lunch. Server was fine, not very personable but not mean or anything. The complimentary bread was great. I ordered the chicken pot pie and my girlfriend ordered the noodles over mash. I'll say the reason this review gets 3 stars is because the pot pie was killer; so good and exactly what I was looking for! The noodles over mash, however, was a huge disappointment. The mash was not great and tasted from a box, and the noodles had a bit of an artificial flavor as well. We ended up taking only a few bites before deciding it wasn't even good enough to eat. We asked the server if there was a way to get that part of the meal comped, or at least discounted, being that neither of us liked it nor ate it. They ended up giving us 40% off of that dish. It's something, but honestly I was expecting to get the dish completely comped (they run a buffet as well and are not at a loss for potato's and noodles). We ended our meal by getting the pie trio: we got the lemon meringue, apple, and peach. The pies were good - not amazing. Overall I wouldn't return to this establishment, but I can see the appeal if you are into eating only beige food.

The buffet is wonderful plenty of meats vegetables and deserts. Clean with a panoramic view of the countryside. Not a bad price for a buffet and our server was very friendly and efficient.

While searching on yelp, we found this place. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. I tried the 2 meats meal. It felt like Thanksgiving. I did not safe room for dessert so I got dessert to go. The fried pies are delicious right next door. The lemon pie and the cherry pie are probably my favorite. Super cozy and family dining experience. If you are ever near by I recommend this place for the experience.

There are always two things that are true when you go to Der Dutchman: You eat way too much and you wish you could have more. I love their broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and salad bar, but always go for the buffet so that I can also have a little bit of cream corn, a little bit of noodles, a bite or two of beets, and a spoonful of bread pudding. There are lots of Amish restaurants in the area, but this is the best. I really like their new entrance and seating plan. The service is fast and friendly. A little more expensive than I wish it would be. Don't forget to leave with something from the bakery.
