Since we were traveling with 4 kids we thought this would be a fun lunch idea giving them the option to choose from the buffet. The buffet consisted of salad bar, soup bar, and hot foods. The restaurant is currently under construction so the main entrance is not available. It did not interrupt our meal experience. We were served fresh rolls which were delicious. The food like any buffet was hot or miss depending on the dish. The chicken was a big hit and the salad was fresh with a nice amount of toppings. I think the croutons are homemade as well. I enjoyed that they had a couple dessert options on the buffet as well. Not sure it was work the price but fun to try the different food options.

The service and the food were good! The food didn't feel like it was super fresh, but it was delicious for the items that were there. Some of the items were cold and you could tell some items had been sitting there for a while.Loved the baked goods and the restaurant itself was insanely adorable. The ambience of the restaurant gave comfy country vibes and I enjoyed it!

Der Dutchman Bellville on Feb 3rd. Food was great and waitress Angie was excellent. We met good friends there and talked for quite a while since there wasn't a waiting line for tables. She checked on us multiple times and didn't try to hurry us out!

First thing that came to mind when patronizing this restaurant was: A buffet with GFS food at a Super 8 Motel. Hubby and I patronized this restaurant on our way to Cleveland to visit family and I was excited about "homemade" food cooked by the Amish. However, the restaurant had very antiquated decor and the food was very bland. The rolls tasted like nursing home rolls and my bacon tasted like bulk purchased, cheap bacon. The table next to us said, "this food is bland." Three stars is for the AMAZING nice waitress we had, Shayla. She was so nice and accommodating. Also, the price was very reasonable ($40ish dollars for 2 dinners) and the food was very hot. I hope Der Dutchman brings back their traditions and homemade Amish cooked meals soon vs. prepackaged unflavored meals.

Picked this as a central location for a Sisters Day (and our Mom) celebration. Food was great, service good, and we enjoyed the shopping experiences upstairs and downstairs afterwards. Great place to hang out with friends or families...

The food was OK for being so overly priced. The buffet was almost $20 and there was honestly not a whole lot to choose from. The salad was wilted and the warm food lacked salt and flavor. Next time, I'll try ordering from the menu instead. The meal did come with rolls, but drinks and almost all desserts were separate. There was a bread pudding and some type of raspberry cobbler on the buffet, but no other dessert. We didn't get any refills or really get asked if we needed anything. I stacked some plates and they were there so long that they started slipping. The one plate fell into the chair on the other side of the table and a worker just watched it fall and walked away. I got up and cleaned it, someone did eventually come take it. There were lots of things to shop around for and they had a little bakery area, but not a lot available. I was envisioning big cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies, etc., that you could order singles of.

Met my parents halfway for lunch, and my mom suggested Der Dutchman because my grandma loves this restaurant. My mom got the buffet and salad bar (pictured), but my dad and I ordered off the regular menu and both got BLT's. Our waitress was phenomenal and super friendly. They even have an entire upstairs gift shop. My parents and I spent so long looking through everything because it was all cool little nicknacks - good for christmas/birthday gifts. Very home-y and cozy environment.

I stopped after a long work day on the road. This was a quick meal. I got seated fast, and had good service throughout. My server was great and sent me with a to-go cup of water for the rest of my journey home. The food itself was good. I got the broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and noodles, with rolls. I was looking for donuts afterwards. It was kind of late but I didn't see any donuts at this location. I am not sure if they were out or just don't offer them here. There is a lot of seating and even if there is a short line it usually goes fast. They have a gift shop and small bakery to browse after your dining experience.
