This place is small and charming, with the delightful experience of watching them make the bread and pastries right in front of you--the smell is absolutely intoxicating. However, the price for a pastry is $18! Seriously? If I take my kids, that's $80 for four pastries, which is just ridiculous. I live down the street from a French woman who charges $4.50 for similar treats that taste like magic in your mouth! While the owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, I just don't think the quality justifies such high prices.

I just spent $42 on baked goods and I have zero regrets. The garlic Asiago loaf, chocolate croissant (for $10.50!), corn flake marshmallow cookie ($5), and Potato onion knish ($9) were all incredible. No surprise that Dan is a James Beard nominee. Thanks for putting Columbus on the map!

What a find and worth looking for if you're in Columbus! While sitting at a nearby coffee shop the idea to find a bakery struck and I came across Dan the Baker! A quick swipe through the photos and I made a B line to get some fresh baked bread! The smell of fresh bread was in the air as I got out of the car and a warm greeting by Chloe awaited me once inside. The space is small, so don't plan to stay, but do take your time and look around, and be sure to watch the bakers making magic through the window to the kitchen.I really liked the focus here, displaying the daily goods while leaving the supply on speed racks and in baskets for service. Chloe was happy to talk to me about each item and her passion and enthusiasm shined. She also offered me samples of the breads so I'd know what I was buying, a service I wasn't expecting but happily indulged, and lead to my final decision, the 2x Sesame! What a loaf of bread. The exterior has a heavy coating of toasted sesame, which you can smell from a mile away, and the inside is studded with more toasted sesame. The crust is thick, dark, and roasty, matching up with the nuttiness of the sesame, while the crumb is light and airy with the perfect chew and a slight density that I could tell will toast well. Fun fact, Chloe suggested toasting with peanut butter after I chose, so I know I'm on track. Seriously. Chloe was exceptional and made this experience for me and I sincerely appreciate her hospitality and genuine happiness.A wonderful way to start my last day in this beautiful city.

This is my third Grandview five star review this week. I am starting to think Grandview might be the food capital of Columbus. DTB is a takeout-only bakery in an unassuming industrial building. I was happy to see no line to order when I arrived on a weekday. The gentleman who helped me was genuinely one of the friendliest people I have ever encountered. His excitement and passion for their product was contagious. I love how they had all of the choices laid out to see and well labeled. It made ordering really easy. I lucked out with potato and pastrami/cabbage knishes! They also had croissants, cinnamon morning rolls, various buns, danish, cruffins and fresh bread loaves. Everything smelled and looked beautiful. Menu changes weekly. DTB breads and pastries are also sold at Weiland's and The Hills markets.

The bread is good. Possibly the best in Columbus, and I'm glad it's here and adds to the food culture. My only gripe is the prices- they are extremely steep such that going here is reserved for special occasions only. I spent $80 here on 2 galettes, and a couple loaves of bread. To add insult to injury, when I paid with a credit card the machine defaulted to a suggested 20% tip! I'm sorry but I can't tip $16 to someone who put a couple of loaves of bread in a bag.I'm guessing the ingredients are super premium... as the location isn't in a high end area and it is extremely small, while this place is advertised as a toast bar there are no toast pieces for sale and nowhere inside to eat anything. One suggestion would be to sell half loaves or to just make the loaves smaller. This might make the prices seem more reasonable, as many loaves of bread are pushing $20.I think the olive polenta bread is quite good. I've seen a lot of variance though as to how many olives and polenta are inside.

Amazing. My husband was in Columbus from work and grabbed some pastries on this way home to Cincinnati for me. They were even better than I could have imagined! The pepperoni roll was to die for. We will always come back when we're in the area!

Honestly one of the best loaves of bread ever! The pastries are epic. Reminds of of being back on the East coast with European style bakeries. So so so worth it.
