Cutler's Restaurant

The food was exceptional. I don't even like alcohol, but their pear martini was superb. Their waiter was entertaining and VERY good at his job. Well done! The restaurant was elegant and I would recommend this place for good date. The Appalachian paella was *chefs kiss*.

We came here to celebrate a graduation from Ohio University. We didn't go with any appetizers but I started with the Cutlers Sangria. It had Pinot Nior, bourbon, grand Marnier, cranberry, brown sugar honey, lemon lime soda and vitamin C. Very tasty. I went with a Caesar Salad and I elected for the 7 oz Filet with garlic mashed and collard greens. The salad was ideal. Perfect portion. Dressing was spot on. The filet was cooked to perfection at medium. The mashed potatoes were divine. You can keep the collard greens! The were bitter and lacked any seasoning. I had a glass of Pinot Nior as well.

We have stayed at the Ohio University Inn on a couple different occasions and always look forward to breakfast at Cutler's. The Goetta Hash is our favorite, but we've enjoyed other options as well (various omelets, breakfast sandwich, breakfast bowl). We have eaten dinner there once and split the Chef's Board. The price was cheaper than we have paid for other charcuterie and cheese boards at other places and there was more than enough food for two people. I estimate that it would feed a family of 4 if you chose that as the line dinner option, and more if you had it as an appetizer. We could have used more bread and fruit options, but the 3 meats and 3 cheese were excellent. The service is always outstanding. We have enjoyed eat visit.

I met friends here for dinner while in town. They got started without me, as I was coming late from a meeting. They shared an appetizer of freshly made tortilla chips with salsa and some sort of black bean dip. It was maybe better when it was fresh - I tried a chip or two and they weren't great (but I was also very late to this dinner). I was greeted by a server who immediately noticed my presence and took my drink order. There was an impressive cocktail list, including a few that made references to Ohio University and local culture; I opted for a glass of wine. My dinner, the Athens Block chicken, was tasty. The chicken was seasoned well and had lots of flavor. The mashed potatoes that came with it were very good. I subbed Brussels sprouts for the asparagus and was quite pleased with that decision. They were roasted and very good. We shared an order of the beignets for dessert. They were more like donut holes than the pillowy authentic beignets of New Orleans. I could have eaten the raspberry sauce that came with them with a spoon. Service was attentive and the food was all quite good. Prices were on the higher side for Athens, but that's consistent with the atmosphere and quality of food. Definitely recommend this for a nicer dinner while in town.

One of the most abysmal dining experiences I've had in a very long time, it was comical by the end. Took 50 min to take our drink orders, appetizers came another hour later. Our server Riley (I never drop names but... this is worthy) was absolutely no where to be found ever, never came back to check in, never came back to take more drink orders, didn't clear our tables. We didn't get our meals until over TWO HOURS IN!! Not only that, a colleague of mine is HIGHLY allergic to any dairy. They brought him a brioche bun.... They double checked they didn't physically add butter to it, but the kitchen staff should know Brioche is known to be made very heavily with cream, milk and butter. So he ordered toast, but at this point we had no faith in receiving the toast without butter... the server comes out with toast and a huge side of butter with it. There was NO WAY he was trusting the toast wasn't grilled with butter. Over all the dinner took 3 hours!!! If I had been paying myself and not on the company dollar with a large team, I would have been walking out.

The staff was so welcoming.Stay in the hotel so definitely checked it out.Ordered two cocktails, fried oysters and catfish & chips.My favorite is the catfish, properly done! Soft inside and crispy outside.Prefer raw oysters...Cocktails are good so I drank too fast so I almost got drunk ...

I have dined at Cutler's many times and had wonderful meals. Yesterday I met family who was traveling there for dinner. After looking at the menu and wanted to keep my budget in mind, I ordered a club sandwich and steak fries. All of my life, a club sandwich was a triple decker sandwich of ham, Turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato cut into quarters. All of my life, steak fries are potato planks that are crispy outside and moist and tender inside with the width at least double the thickness. Why I received yesterday was neither. I got all the ingredients between two slices of bread cut in half. Don't get me wrong, the flavor was fine, but it wasn't the experience I've always had. The fries were regular fries. The same fries served with a kids chicken tender meal. Words matter. Yesterday I didn't receive anything I expected.

We visited Cutlers for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We started off with an order of Beignets. By themselves, they were delicious, tasting like a funnel cake. They are served with dipping sauce which tasted like nothing more than room temperature Hersheys chocolate syrup.We split an order of chicken and waffles. The chicken was nothing more than frozen chicken tenders and the waffle wasn't that far from an Eggo waffle. I will say the coffee was good, but this was very disappointing.

Worst food I have had in a long, long time. 'Started off with dirty glasses and salad plates. Bone-in' pork chop consisted of a small cut up piece of pork that was smaller than the size of a McDonald's quarter pounder. Brussel sprouts were burnt($28). I got an $11 margaritas that was about a 6 oz glass with no discernible alcohol. My wife got brazen beef that looked like canned meat on top of squash and mashed potato's. She didn't finish it. She said it looked like animal throw-up. Kids meal came with a Sprite that was flat and out of syrup. Outside patio was pleasant and server was nice. I do not recommend.
