Craig King Realty Group

Spoke with King Craig himself regarding one of his college rental properties. He has over 70 units listed but only two units available. The King was unable to navigate me to a specific web page with any details of the available unit. He seemed incredibly put out that I would even ask to see pictures. I cannot imagine how difficult this guy would be to deal with if you actually rented from him.

Best experience I have had since moving to Columbus to pursue my degree and live off campus. This realty group enjoys showing you their units and they have a convenient schedule that adheres to your own. If a problem arises, though I have not had a significant problem, maintenance fixes whatever the issue or takes a look extremely fast with the minor issue I had. Their availability is also second to none, their office manager gets back with you by the next business day. Fair pricing and great locations for whatever you are looking for, and many units to fit your budget. I highly recommend this group! Craig is also really friendly and even goes over the contract with you in person (or the office manager, perhaps but Craig did mine every time) and it is well laid out so you know expectations from you as a tenant and what you can expect from them as a group. They also have a tenant portal which is really convenient.

The worst experience I've had renting--it didn't feel like an apartment, but Craig King's personal showroom. If you don't sign a new lease two months in, he will show your unit every week for the entire year. The most hilarious aspect is that he has in the lease that you have to pay to have his carpets cleaned...when the only people making them dirty are the strangers he's constantly bringing through with their filthy shoes. Oh, and I should clarify: the King is not the one who even does the showings--he outsources his own job to the maintenance guy, if that gives you any idea of how profit driven and careless he is. The units themselves are outdated without windows (the bedrooms are possibly against code?) and super basic, but the rent kept climbing...the appliances are abysmal, like something from a dollhouse, and there was mold all over the shower. The office manager and the King himself were unprofessional and rude--I dreaded every interaction I was forced to have with them. Clearly, they see their tenants as nothing more than commodities. Dealing with regular land "lords" is bad enough, but watch out for the "king". Negative stars.

It was nice. until I found out that if you don't sign a lease for next year only two months into the current lease, he'll show you're living space at least once a week for nine months.

I wish I could give 0 stars so bad, this guy is the absolute epitome of "slumlord." If you don't IMMEDIATELY sign a new lease that's more expensive, he will invade your privacy weekly with unit viewings, most of which happen with little notice. Be prepared to be woken up at any time of day to banging on your ROOM DOOR by a very rude maintenance team member, who don't do a whole lot of maintenance by the way. AVOID AVOID AVOID CRAIG KING LIKE THE PLAGUE. Living in a tent by 71 would be a better situation as at least you have some privacy. Also he will tow your car if you're parked in his horribly maintained parking lot for more than 5 minutes.

I honestly can't thank Craig enough. If he had waited even 5 minutes he would have had my money and my signature on a lease. Thank God, he has the patience of a child and couldn't resist being rude long enough for me to finish signing the lease. The lease he gave had inconsistencies from what I had previously discussed with him and when I tried to call him out for these he was so upset that I had caught on to his scam. Avoid this man if you value your money.

WORST REAL ESTATE EXPERIENCE EVER!!Looking to take care of, and shelter your family? Trying to find a business that you can trust and who will be professional, honest, and reliable?? THEN RUN AWAY FROM CRAIG KING AND HIS REALTY!!! Their showing agents are rude and inconsiderate enough to schedule multiple showing appointments at the same time so you get this really awkward walk through of a property with other people who also thought they had an individual showing appointment scheduled. The agent DID speak to us though when he shouted from the front door up the stairs at us (and the other family there) to "be sure to turn off all the lights". I needed a place quickly for me, my wife, and our 3 babies so I went ahead and decided to rent the place. After finally tracking down Craig King himself, we were able to agree upon renting the place and talk about the steps required (i.e. rental application, application fee, sign the lease, etc...). I got everything filled out and submitted and started packing up my family. Well, fast forward a week later and I got a really nice, personal text message (*sarcasm*) telling me that they went ahead and rented the place to somebody else because they thought they could get a longer lease out of them. WHAT?!?!?!? They didn't even call me to talk about not following through with the originally agreed upon renting of the property!! Now I am stuck without a place for my family of 5 and scrambling to solve this absolute mess heaped upon us by Craig and his shady company. I am so dismayed, I can hardly even believe this... I had to call 3 different people at least 10 times trying to get into contact with Craig to even talk about this situation and try to resolve it. All I got was more rude language calling ME "unprofessional" for being concerned with sheltering my family. Let my heartache be your warning... unless you are looking for a slumlord or have absolutely no other option, save yourself the trouble and RUN AWAY from Craig King Realty
