Graduated from the LPN Program. Now that I am a certified nurse, my life has improved vastly. It isn't "easy" because it is a community college. In fact, more CSCC nurses get hired immediately out of school than those from OSU - because CSCC weeds out the weak links. It can suck when you are one of them, but you DO get second chances. It's good to turn inward and assess yourself. The small classes of polished professionals who manage to graduate means you enter the work force and are ready to hit the ground running. Many employers complain about the lack of professionalism from new nurses. CSCC will make sure you are ready for the work place, and if that means flunking you because your work ethics or your professional attitude sucks, so be it, they won't pass you until you are ready. How do I know?.. I failed a semester because of errors in clinicals, and it was the best thing possible, because I needed to experience failure to become a better person and stronger nurse. Words cannot describe how wonderful the staff is. You get more than an education, you get help developing as a person in ways that hone the human being that you are. You will graduate with the ability to excel in your field and be a stellar example of what a graduate professional can be.All the LPN nursing staff is amazing. My favorites are Jennifer Mauck, Abbey Billups. They made me a better person in so many ways. I just love them to bits. Rochelle will have you ready to be that professional with the skills to hook that dream job.Ignore the negative crap in reviews. You HAVE to take part in your future, they can't spoon feed it to you.

3 years ago if you had asked me if I wanted to go back to college again I probably would have said no a bachelors degree was enough. Although I wasn't fully comprehending what the job market looked like back then and what degrees were really "hot" in the Columbus area.My dad gave me a pep talk and said hunny lets have a talk, your degree is good but if you went into something higher in demand maybe you'd become a more marketable individual. I gave it some thought and got back with my dad and said okay I'll schedule a meeting with 2 or 3 different departments at Columbus State and see which better fits my background and skill sets.I decided to have a meeting with both the Computer Science Department and the Allied Health Department. I spent over an hour in each department discussing what I was really looking for in a career path and in the end the Allied Health Department really matched my skill sets and what I felt I could bring to the table. Plus the department lead instructor Lisa Cerrato really impressed me with the career opportunities and future statistics of my career choice in Medical Billing and Coding. After spending 2 years at Columbus State Community College, I can honestly say thank you dad for giving me that advice to go back to school again and pursue another career path. This path has been such a blessing. I have had the most wonderful and dedicated staff at Columbus State Community College, most of which I'm still talking to this very day. Columbus State provided me with an start to a wonderful career path and the education was very good because that is part of the curriculum to get students integrated in a structured path that aligns with current industry needs and then continue on to higher education like a bachelors or masters degree afterwards. If you are looking for a start after high school or need maybe a certification that is affordable look no further than Columbus State their programs will get you on the fast path to success!

I was in the LPN program for over a year and I couldn't be more disappointed with the teachers I had. I was passing all my classes, completed all my assignments on time, I never missed a single day of class, I attended many open labs to help me better prepare for check offs and clinicals. Everything seemed fine until I attended IV Clinical and had an awful teacher who was completely unprofessional and extremely demeaning and had no sympathy at all for students. I did everything I was supposed to and she failed me for my clinical with no real valid reason. Then on top of that I was dismissed from the LPN program 4 weeks before I was supposed to graduate! The teachers ALL knew I had a disability and they still went out of their way to single me out rather than help me.Overall, I loved the school and I got a degree in Medical Assisting, but do yourself a huge favor: Don't go into the LPN program or you may just waste time and money like I did.Update: This EXACT same situation happened to someone I know.

Couldn't be happier with my brief experience with the campus. Took a 4 week night class at the facility through the Ohio SBDC over the winter. The classrooms were clean and modern. If I was planning to go back to college, I'd definitely consider CSCC.

CSCC doesn't look like much, but it has so much to offer. I was here for three years before that disastrous year at OSU and I came back for a fourth year. I have worked for the campus newspaper (Cougar News; sadly no longer in print) and I was a paid student employee in my third year as a Student Ambassador. Things have changed, but I will always know this place inside out.Small campus, small class sizes, and very few asshole profs or idiot TAs. I cannot recommend the digital photography program enough. It's utterly fantastic. Take psychology classes with Dr. Kaufman. Want to learn more about the college, help your fellow students AND be paid? Join the Student Ambassadors. CSCC gave me all of those opportunities. I've made some fantastic friends that I never would've met anywhere else. I'm actually tearing up just thinking about them because I'm leaving for Montana, and I won't get to see them very much after I move. This is MY college, and I'm proud to have been a student here. The only bad experience I had here was in 2007 when a male student sexually assaulted me. It wasn't the college's fault, and when I reported it, he was swiftly dealt with (read: kicked out). I wish the legal system had been that fast and more inclined to punish him (they let him go). I'm forever grateful to the campus police and public safety team for their efforts and actions.Main campus IS downtown, so exercise caution and heaps of common sense when parking. Never leave your belongings unattended. If you want to know what professors to avoid, use RateMyProfessors.com (DO NOT take Humanities 151...just don't. Trust me. Don't. Spare your IQ. The woman teaching it is incompetent and the department chair won't fire her.) religiously. Most of my professors were really good, but some, like the harpy from Humanities 151, were beyond awful. Nothing as terrible as TAs that don't speak English at OSU, though.

Never have I had anyone in a college admissions process be so utterly rude to me, or talk down to me in the manner those at Columbus State have. For weeks, I tried time and again to schedule courses. I ran back and forth to the admissions office looking for help, exchanged emails with an advisor and called student services repeatedly. None of this was helpful. I needed transient credits and was genuinely interested in the classes they were offering during the summer term. Like any admissions process, my test scores were required - I've never heard of a college that refuses SAT scores, what about those who didn't take the ACT?Each time I've gotten in contact with an admissions officer my questions have been shot down, when I've spoken they've intentionally talked over me.So, I'd like to thank CSCC for admitting me. They will not, however, be receiving my money for the way they've treated me.

Love going to school here. Its a super affordable way to earn a two year degree. The hours are a little weird for some of the offices. But, other than that I've never had a problem. One thing I could suggest is to make sure all your financial aid is right or you're screwed. It takes 2-4 weeks for it to get sorted out, sometimes longer. This puts you really behind in your classes and some teachers won't even let you join the class that late anyways.

Columbus State Community College is great if you are trying to receive higher education, transfer and never go back. It is cheap but extremely unorganized. I transferred back to Columbus State to take a couple of classes while not enrolled in another university. I was told 3 different things all by academic and financial adviser. I was misguided up until it was too late to refund or get my loan back for my classes. They took my loan and never applied it to my class even though 2 advisers told me it would be applied. It wasn't until a third and very very rude adviser told me that there was nothing I can do and that it was my own fault. So: yes, come here if you know EXACTLY what you need to do and will not need an additional help because it will lead to more confusion and potentially robbing you of your money and credit.
