3 sheets of ice meticulously maintained by its members and a variety of skill levels are accommodated. Fun to watch this technical sport. They offer "learn to curls" and the members are helpful and welcoming. Definitely worth a try if you've been curious. They also accommodate corporate events.

First of all, let me say this is what people can do when they get together and put in some effort. My interest in Curling goes back to the 70's and my family first got cable TV. living on Lake Erie, we got several Canadian stations in our cable. I was a little too old for Saturday morning cartoons so I discovered local Curling matches out of Hamilton, Ontario. My first reaction was, what the hell is that, and what are they doing with those brooms and how does it affect the throw?Months of watching that I figured it out and started following teams. Move ahead 30 years and I'm now in Columbus Ohio, an area not known for Curling. But enough transplanted Canadians and people from the NE USA were here that they tried to resurrect a curling club that went under in Newark, Oh. Hearing out it, I pitched in and was a charter member of the Columbus Curling club. (I helped out quite a bit, but it couldn't have been done without dozens of people who knew far more than me. The first several years Curling was done on the ice at the Chiller in Polaris. I learned to curl here and it was way more fun than I thought it would be. I fell in love with it for real. As great as that was, curling isn't at its best when the ice is shared with Hockey and Ice skating. But it was still great. Thanks to the great people of this club, a dedicated curling only rink was created several years later. It was great to have curling ice, but while I lost touch for a few years, this group has continued to grow and this facility is greatly improved and is becoming first class in every way.Now that Columbus has this GREAT facility, its there for you to try. Anyone can do it and they offer many learn to curl opportunities and it makes a great group outing. See their website columbuscurling.com for details. The club can provide you the equipment you need outside of warm clothes and the minimal equipment you will need is not too bad. Membership may seem pricy, but if you go an look, it will be apparent that while pricing, its not unreasonable given the need for large amount of space, cooling and ice making equipment. I'm sure most of you have now seen Curling on the 2006 and 2010 Olympics. It is even more fun than it looks and with the social aspect of curling everyone is likely to have a great time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is a great place! Everyone is very friendly. This was my first time curling and I have to admit, part of me worried that the experienced curlers would just be bothered by me. NOT AT ALL!! Whether you've curled before, or not even heard of curling, everyone is very welcoming and encouraging. Also, curling is a blast! If you haven't tried it, I strongly recommend it.

What a fun event!I attended a "Learn to Curl" clinic offered by the Columbus Curling Club. For $25 you get a lesson on the history of the sport and the club, small group (about 4 students/instructor) instruction on the techniques and rules and then a good bit of practice and playing time. The instructors and curling club members were helpful, patient and enthusiastic about their sport. I also appreciate their safety-first mentality, as it's incredibly easy to fall on the ice. In fact, most people DID fall at some point...all part of the fun.The experience isn't for everyone, but is great if you are slightly athletic, patient and not afraid of looking silly. Once you attend a Learn to Curl clinic, you can join an Instructional League for additional practice.Oh, and it's a social sport too, as groups stick around a bit for beers and beverages after playing.

I have been Curling for seven years now. I started back in college at BGSU during my Undergrad and Grad school days. When I moved to Columbus, joining the Curling Club was on my To-Do list. This is my third year as a member of the club, and I absolutely love it. The club has been building upon itself since its inception five years ago. For those of you who have not been here, it is located off of I-71N at the Weber Road exit in the back of a warehouse. Yes, the back of a warehouse. Now, it might be a bit daunting to park and walk into the club at first, but if you go for a learn to curl session, the instructors make you feel right at home. One of the great things about Curling is also the drinking! There is a stocked beer fridge at all times with a variety of domestic, import, and craft bottled beer - as well as liquor. The prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend trying Curling out if you get a chance. It is one of those life experiences you will not regret. The addition of the new "Wall" has made the ice much more pristine this year.Check it out!5/5 stars

If you are looking for something fun and different to do in Columbus, you should try the Curling Clinic. What is Curling... It is sorta like bocce ball on ice. You don't need to know any previous ice sport experience or even be that athletic to do it. It is only $20. Try it! You won't be sorry.

A friend of mine had a suprise birthday celebration at Columbus Curling Club for his wife -- not only a great gift and event, it was big fun and a mind/body learning experience! All I knew about curling was that it was that "odd" Olympic sport where large "pucks" (real name "stones") are glided down sheets of ice to a bulls eye (house is real term). Team mates sweep or broom in front of the stone to help it glide and aim. There are 4 people on a team, we had about 18-20 folks participating. Volunteers from the club gave lessons on each step of proper Curling and guided us through the Curling lingo and nuances. We then had a tounament with the four teams. Difficult to explain unti you do it, Curling is like a bocce ball, bowling, sweeping, ice physics and minor gymnastic sport. Fun and active, it requires some learning and thinking, making for a nice activity and something different. Beer, soft drinks and minimial snacks available on site. A nice viewing area if you want to just have a drink and check it out. The volunteers and ownership were very helpful and accomidating. Everyone was excited about their sport and willing to share and teach. If you have never seen it or want to try, I say have a look, it is worth it. Could end up being a once in a while thing, or maybe even lead to Olympic Gold!!
