Interesting place to go to for art classes or free events!I came with some friends to listen to an artist talk about her work featured in the current exhibition. It's a pretty low key place with friendly staff. They've got lots of trees and flowers outside and one of the ladies told me that they do weddings here.Very cool! Can't wait to return!

Everything about this place was quite interesting! First of all, the building was wonderful - historical, with lots of neat spaces, floors, and towers. There's some nice signage that provides information on it near the front. There is a nice outdoor space that features several pieces of public art in the garden. The first floor offers a gallery space and a gift shop, which offers pieces made on the premises for sale. At the time of our visit, the gallery was showing Karin Dahl's "Art and Jazz," which was a very nice display. Several other floors offer work spaces for various classes. There's another small loft gallery space on the third floor, which was currently showing a mask display on our visit. The staff was friendly, and it was free to visit. I had no idea this was down here, and I'm glad I found it - and will be sure to visit again in the future!

I absolutely love the Columbus Cultural Arts Center. To be surrounded by artwork, studio, and the energy to create makes me keep coming back. I'm usually off on Thursdays so I get to enjoy the conversations and coffee programs that they offer. You get to sit and enjoy I chat with some of the artists that are local and from far away to talk about their craft, and what allow them to be the artist they are today. I hope to one day give it a shot as I am still learning how to navigate life as an artist. I create work in my studio so it is easy to become isolated from everyone else when you never leave your house to make work. So this is a nice place to network and make connections. 5 stars for always having kind people working and the patrons who enjoy art as much as I do.

Wonderful center that offers a wide variety of arts for the community. I've personally seen a wide array of art exhibits ranging from Hypothesis which represents science coming to life in art to "Tar" which is a 3 story play about the opioid epidemic in our state. This play was tied into the Operation Monarch collection which was the works of artists who are at various stages in their addiction recovery. Bonus: 6 hour meters, ya'll!

I'm writing this review as a peruser, not someone who has taken classes.I checked this out on a whim - and it's fucking awesome. The architecture. The art work. Being able to walk through the classes? Phenomenal. It's a different experience to walk through and watch everyone work - I felt like a ghost, as everyone was focused on their work. The place is fully stocked - and with all the possibilities of creation here... I hope to sign up for classes soon!

What a venue! My sister just got married here yesterday and why the details are fresh it's time to light up this 5-star. For starters this quaint artsy space is fun to walk through. The grounds house indoor and outdoor art and the brick building and architecture are cool. The venue is walled in and was enough space for 175 people no problem. We had a band, cellist, indoor/outdoor seating and a large bar all set up with room for extra elements. The reception and ceremony were both held at the event space but we did need to move the after party as the site closed down at 11pm. The wedding planner Vanessa who I'm not sure was part of this venue or not was 5-star! Highly recommended whether it's a quick visit when you're in the area or if you're hosting your next big event in downtown Columbus.

The Columbus cultural arts center is the definition of a hidden gem. Why it's not mobbed and why every class isn't full to the brim is beyond me. Not that I'm complaining mind you, I don't want to have TOO much competition for slots in my beloved ceramics class. Here's the deal. For around $55 you can sign up for an approximately eight week art class in the discipline of your choosing. And they have a lot to choose from! My personal preference is ceramics. But they have many, many others. Painting. Jewelry making. Enameling. Weaving. Other things that I can't even think of!The instructors, at least all of those I've interacted with, have been great. They're all incredibly talented themselves. They're eager and willing to share their skills with the students. The facilities are also amazing. You have access to equipment and materials that you'd never be able to take advantage of at home. All of this is offered by the city of Columbus. That's right. The cultural arts center is part of the parks and rec department. It also offers more than just classes. There's a gift shop selling student work. A gallery with rotating exhibits. Workshops. And you can even rent out the (very cool) building for weddings or other events. If you've never been there, it's worth stopping by for a visit even if you have no intention of signing up for a class. And who knows. You might change your mind.

A primo idea: put a cultural art center in a building of cultural and artistic merit. For example, the brick Italianate building across from Bicentennial Park with towers marking its corners, a perfect location for this, accessible for the crowds at Art Fest and other festivals. The buildings castle like structure and brick walling reveals its original function. Built in the 1860s, it stood as an armory for the Ohio militia during the Civil war. The bronze shield from the USS Ohio, the flagship of the Asian Fleet decommissioned in the 1920s, hangs on the wall under shrubbery on its Northeastern corner was added in the 70s. This place is excellent for artist. They have classes, workshops, programs, and an art talk on Thursday afternoons. They also are doing something I didn't know about until just now; they have hidden tree houses in several parks in town, a geocaching challenge of shorts, that runs through September. If interested they have maps at their website; sounds like a bit of fun for me when I do my park visiting thing. Of coarse, I couldn't draw a straight line if the world depended on it, so I experience the CCAC through its gallery and walkthrough during Art Fest. I love the paintings and sketches shown at their space here; they are often provocative, daring, political, and confronting. You can walk through during the festival while the artists are at work, and it is interesting, though I feel a little awkward doing so, as if they were animals at the zoo (I am not sure if you can feed the artists or not, but I usually toss them a crumbs or two.) This is a hidden asset of Columbus that is probably underappreciated. But it really is a architectural, historical, cultural interesting place that citizens should support.

We rented the Cultural Arts Center for our wedding last weekend (August 2018), and couldn't have made a better selection. What made us first look there was the price: inside and out for an entire day was incomparably affordable relative to other venues we looked at. Additionally, we could choose any licensed caterer to work the day, though they did have a pre-approved list. The venue itself is gorgeous, placed right next to the river, and requires very little decoration. Many of our guests enjoyed looking at the art during the reception; made for a good talking point. The staff is easy to work with, and Jackie (the coordinator) was very helpful. We'd recommend the CAC to anybody looking for an affordable and beautiful venue in Columbus!
