Cheplowitz Properties IS THE WORST LANDLOARD I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN 20 YEARS OF RENTING* The house was infested with mice and roaches when I moved in and Cheplowitz expressed little concern. I began sending emails to the landlord almost daily with pictures of roaches I found (one had a bag of over 15) to documenting what was happening (I event visited a lawyer)* When I moved in the house it was filthy and run down* There was dried food all over the kitchen and some cabinets were so far beyond the ability to deep clean that we just didn't use them* I left the house in way better condition then when I moved in but they deducted over $400 from our deposit upon moving out (even though they did a walk through and did not mention any issues)* They also deducted over $400 of tenants' deposits who lived in other apartments of theirs (I know this because those tenants became friends of mine)* Within the first year of living in the unit Cheplowitz had to come repair things approximately every two months or so because the house was in such bad condition * The dryer stained our clothes upon us moving in and Cheplowitz asked us to keep drying/damaging our clothes in the dryer to see if the problem persisted (it did) and eventually they replaced the dryer* Mary, the owner of Cheplowitz would regularly walk in our house within the first year of us moving in without any prior warning (despite the lease noting that prior notice is required). I continuously asked her not to do so and she continued to for a long time. Overall Cheplowitz is a terrible landlord that trivializes any major problems (lack of running water, roaches, lack of laundry use, etc.) until you put weeks to months of pressure on them almost to the point of taking legal action. Then they have the nerve to deduct money from your deposit even if you leave the house in much better condition then moving in. Skeezy!
