This business is a hit or miss really. The food is usually super good but occasionally it tastes old or even microwaved. The service is good but seems rushed especially over the phone when ordering.

Found this restaurant because most places are closed on Sundays in Amish country. So glad I did!Hole in the wall in a strip mall hidden behind a Dollar Tree. Blocked off at the foyer for COVID protocols. Really good, protected setup. No entry into the restaurant except the front door. Food comes out in a big enclosed sliding box between the foyer and the restaurant. Now for the food. General Tso chicken was nicely fried, moist with a crunchy exterior. Sauce was great. Not too much of the sauce but nicely coated. No drowned chicken which is what frequently happens at my local Chinese takeout. Not spicy at all, which I prefer, so if you like it hot, you'll need some hot oil. Rice is more like a yellow saffron rice than a fried rice. Hence why the point ding. It was good but would have been better with gumbo than General Tso. Veg Lo Mein was outstanding. Nice, light sauce. Lots of super cute little veggies. Skip the rice and upgrade to noodles!Shrimp with green peppers was very good. Had a flavorful brown sauce on it that paired perfectly with the shrimp and peppers. Green peppers were soft without being limpid. The egg roll was small and did not look like much. One bite changed my mind about that. Good filling combo inside. Crunchy outside but not hard. Well done, Cheng's!Overall, great dinner with tons left over for lunch tomorrow. Will stop again when I'm next in the Berlin/Millersburg area.

Recently had Cheng's Gourmet and was really happy with my meal!! We had three adults who got lunch-size servings, a side of crab Rangoon, and the total was only $23. We all ended up with two meals each, because the portion sizes were very generous. Cheng's Gourmet is doing a lot to ensure social distancing, and safety for their customers. Right now they are only doing carry-out, but you can order online on their fully functional website. It was very clean, all staff had masks and gloves.I was so pleased with my side of Crab Rangoon (came with 8!), and Cashew Chicken from Cheng's Gourmet; it was better than most other Chinese restaurants I've eaten at. I can't wait to eat here again! All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. This is honestly a hidden gem within Millersburg, Ohio, and I strongly recommend you give it a shot!!

Cheng's Gourmet is among the few restaurants around here that is not Amish or fast food. It's among the healthier choices you can get. That still isn't saying much since it's not completely healthy. It has a lunch buffet. They have better food on actual the menu. It has a pretty big lunch buffet. It seems to only be on weekdays that they have it. The buffet has mostly meat items along with noodles and rice. It doesn't have much beyond beef and chicken. The menu has several items with tofu and vegetables. I had the sautéed fried tofu. It's about $8 for the lunch portion. This is a pretty good portion of tofu. It was a little rubbery because it had been cooked for so long. There also could have been more seasoning. It's okay Chinese considering the area. It's the only place around to get it. Tourists need something other than Amish stuff to eat and this is one of the few options.

A very nice experience. The Sauteed Fried Tofu/broccoli was great at $10.25. The Hot and Sour soup was fabulous, a large serving (for two) at $6.75. Staff was very responsive to a special request on the soup.ALL food was made to order and it was yummmy fresh! Yep that's with three M's. To the folks complaining about the service...we experienced prompt service for dine in, we observed the main employee greet everyone and say, "How can I help you". What else do folks want in a mom and pop restaurant? They even let some non customers (motorcycle riders) come in during the rain and wait in their lobby until the storm passed. As with any local place if you want something a little different ASK. If you are unhappy, bring it to their attention. Most places want to provide a good experience. Anyways, I have a full stomach. Glad I tried it. We would come back. We love good homestyle food, but this was a nice alternative. Very clearly a family operation, glad to support local business. As my fortune cookie said, "You don't need talent to gain experience." A nice melodramatic way to end this review, que credits and finish with triumphant food music...fade to black (passed out from food coma).

Authentic Chinese in Ohio Amish Country! Near Walmart in Millersburg Ohio! I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, less than 30 minutes before closing time. Smiles from the adult woman and her two children ages 3 and maybe 8-9 years old. I'm used to kids in Chinese restaurants and I don't mind seeing them helping with work. They aren't being forced to work, they are eager to help and eager to learn. I placed my to-go order and it was just as I ordered. Crab Rangoon, Spring Rolls, and Chicken and Broccoli with white rice. $14.95 for a meal that will be 2-3 servings. I ordered the small size of the Chicken and Broccoli. My order was fulfilled in a timely manner. The taste was amazing and unique. The spring rolls were different than others I have had, but I really like them! The Crab Rangoon is very good also! The chicken and broccoli over white rice was a nice warm meal after two hours traveling in the car. This restaurant only had three stars, but I'm giving it five. How nice it is to walk into a new restaurant and walk out with a great dinner, great service and smiles! I hope when you are passing through Millersburg you will pass up other fast food chains and check out this Authentic Chinese food!

The first time trying this restaurant, four of us had three different dishes. The General Tso's, Orange Chicken, and sesame chicken with sides of lo mein, egg rolls and crab Rangoon. All of it was terrible. The only thing slightly edible were the egg rolls. The main dishes tasted nothing like what I am used to from Columbus. They all had a slight bbq sauce flavor? For Chinese food? The lo mein was saturated with soy sauce and the crab Rangoon had zero crab. Not even imitation. I called and asked for a refund and to bring all of the food back (total order was $46 plus I tipped well - on a take out order) and the owner wouldn't let me nor offered a refund. She said the General Tsos was "most popular dish". Well, zero out of four of us liked it. I did get her to compromise and refund me $23. I will not order from here again.

Food is concisely good, prices are fair and portions are big. I do miss the buffet though, since c0v1d the only option is ordering off the menu.

Horrible, some of the food looked old or had been sitting around a while. They no longer have a buffet, you can't bring a drink with you and you are forced to a limited selection of drinks. The name says gourmet but far from it.
