Champs Pizza And Pub

I stopped here on a Saturday evening when I was in the area. I ordered the New York Style Pizza. It was seat yourself, and all the seats were full, so I sat at the bar. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient. The pizza was a solid 6. The crust was crisp and light but lacked something in the texture. The sauce was simple tomato, dried herbs, etc cooked down. The pepperoni was spicy and thinly cut so it crisped up making it crunchy like cupped pepperoni. The cheese was mozzarella. By the was I'm describing it, you'd think I didn't like it. That's not true. Somehow it all works together to make a very strong entry into the bar pizza arena!

Food came out quickly and was tasty. We especially liked the bbq chicken pizza. It came with tons of chicken! We also liked the onion petals.

We've been loyal customers of Champs for years. They've been our go-to place at the lake, and we've always had good pizza, subs, and wings. Plus we like supporting local business. Tonight I had an odd experience that I hope was an anomaly. Coming home from being gone all day, I ordered a sub to pick up for dinner. I normally don't use the drive through because it's usually so busy, but at 830pm on a Sunday night I hoped it would be ok. Pulled in behind a pickup truck that was ahead of me at the window. I waited for 5 minutes and can see the driver was engaged in a serious conversation with someone inside. I got tired of waiting and decided to back out of the drive through line, pull around, and go in. Now I can see the guy in the pickup truck engaged in the big discussion with none other than the owner! The driver of the truck pointed at me, and the owner glanced over his shoulder at me, and then right back at it. I figured the guy must have made some huge order or had some issue. Nope. After a few minutes they were clearly just shooting the bull, yucking it up, and ignoring the customer who was just trying to pick up his sub at 830 on a Sunday night. Now the guy in the truck pulls away, and I'm paying for my sub, and as the owner walks right in front of me I'm expecting something. "Hey, sorry about that, that was an old friend I haven't seen in years and the time got away from us." Nope. Nothing. Even a simple "sorry" and I would have remained a loyal customer. Nope. He looked at me like I was bothering him. That's really unfortunate. I really hope the owner reads this and responds, because there are just too many other pizza places we can take our business.

Pretty good place. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We had Buffalo chips and garlic bread to start. Both were tasty. I ordered an Italian sub that was good. The pizza was also pretty good. I will be back to try other things.

Went here for a belated Mother's Day get together with all our kids. Big mistake. Arrived and found a table. Order was taken in a timely fashion. All downhill from there. Took forever to get our food. Once it came the burger my daughter ordered with no jalapeños had jalapeños. She managed to eat half because she could still taste the spice after picking them off. Chicken wrap my wife ordered was awful. Slimy and fatty low quality chicken. She also managed to eat half. I was out of sweet tea halfway through my meal. Was not offered a refill. Brought it to the waitress's attention of the issues and told her we never complain but this was bad. She went to the apparent owner who we watched shrug his shoulders. She brings us our check with no adjustment offered...ok then I'll pay the full bill. Sat there with my card and bill ready to pay for nearly 15 minutes but the waitress was too busy eating pizza with her family to take my card and check. Went to the bar and paid for it. No tip...I never do that. But deserved here. The $114 bill would have gotten at least $25 from me if the service was mediocre. This was not. Sad to say we won't be back. To many good choices for pizza to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism.

Sometimes it's good ... Sometimes not so much . One thing about the pizza business is that you need to be consistent. Definitely not the case here .

Excellent food...New York style pizza, buffalo chicken pizza and pretzel bites with beer cheese...the best...even better service...cold beer!!!! Highly recommend!

We go here for the pizza and subs. Pizza and especially the Champs Super are excellent and very reasonably priced. Best place to eat in Buckeye Lake area.

Very pleasantly surprised and shocked we had not tried this place before. Pizza was super good, loved the crust and sauce, the cheese blend and the pepperoni they use. Overall a really great pizza. This place is a must try ! Omg the Italian sub. Yes for sure
