Caribbean Corner

Was so looking forward to this meal and it was a massive disappointment. Just to show there's no interpretation issues, I brought my Jamaican neighbors, Lou and Mayta. They get a free meal from their home neck of the woods, I get an expert opinion.I didn't care that the server seemed disinterested and disconnected. Everyone's different. Still, be friendly, it's a business. 2-3 stars.The room could use a good going over, but it's not disgustingly filthy so we're at 3 stars for that. The food was a bust. Total discouragement. One of my favourite things is ox tails. First, you only get half. Then, they whipped up some nasty sweet sauce and drench the damn things. 1-starI would defend the price if they hadn't gotten so cheap. So the prices get 2-stars. Pro Tip: If there are no refund signs, don't go in. Take your money up the road. As for Lou and Mayta, they were disappointed. I agreed to take them to the Cuban joint up the road. Stumbled on this driving by. On the corner by Beverage Warehouse drive-through. Small but bright and welcoming inside. Small menu of the classics. I wasn't super hungry, so I got a few sides: mac and cheese, cabbage, and rice and peas. Huge portion. Mac and cheese is a lot like my mother-in-law's, which is a good thing. Homemade, with cheese baked on top. My daughter loved it. I liked the cabbage most; very nostalgic for me. Flavorful, tender, with bits of carrot. The rice and peas were good, but clearly meant as a side for an entree, and now I wish I had gotten oxtail or goat. Mmm. I'll be back.Friendly owner. Decent prices. Street parking, kind of crowded out there.

The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and the prices were fair. I had the curry goat with cabbage and plantains, and I'm looking forward to trying jerk chicken next time!

The only good thing to eat was the sides and those tasted straight out the microwave. I didn't even want to give it one star. All the jerk chicken I had was hard as well as my dates plate. For 28.00 dollars it's not worth it! Waste of gas time and I'm still hungry! Also waiting in the lobby area is about 95 degrees on a 70 degree day, you are better off getting gas station food.
