This was taken during our trip to Florida for our check out dives.

I decided that I finally wanted to scuba dive, and I researched all the available options in Columbus. I chose Captain Rick's, and I'm very glad that I did.Rick's is like taking lessons from folks who are in your family. The entire staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. The program is very affordable, more so than the other options in Columbus. There is no requirement to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment before you learn. They provide you with the equipment. This is important, because you won't know what you like, or the best options, until after you learn and experience what it's like to be in the water. One of the best things about Captain Rick's is that you can do your check out dive in the warm ocean off the coast of Florida, not in a cold uninteresting quarry in Ohio, though that is an option if you cannot afford the cost of travel and boat fees.I feel my life was enriched after taking the Open Water course at Captain Rick's. Not just because I learned to scuba, but because I gained the pleasure of now having new friends in the instructors and fellow students. Our trip to Florida felt just like taking a trip with long time close friends!Rick's is very flexible with your time in the class and can accommodate most schedules. It is affordable, and I can't stress enough the most appealing aspect to the whole experience: I feel I have become a part of the family!

My son took lessons at Captain Ricks and loved it. They are very accommodating truly they bend over backwards to help. Covid 19 hit, 2 months went by and Captain Ricks stayed in touch with my son as soon as reopened he was scheduled. Rick and Carol treat you like family, best Florida experience I have had can't wait till our next adventure with them. I truly trust them with my sons life especially under water. Now I am becoming NAUI certified and continuing my dive training

SCUBA has been on my Bucket List, and with a pending trip to Australia, I looked into getting certified ahead of the trip. I took a sample dive with Dennis just to see how it would work out (I have a collapsed lung, though my oncologist says it would be okay to dive). The dive was great - fun and informative. Dennis took the time to explain the basics to me without being overly technical. We had great fun for the hour or so in the pool. Unfortunately, Australia requires a local doctor give you a medical certification, whether or not you are certified, and passing that is not a sure thing for me, so I am going to put off lessons for a while.

It's clear that Capt. Rick is very experienced and seems easy going.I have no doubt that he knows his stuff. That being said if you are concerned about yourself or a susceptible family member at home (as I am), be aware that Rick did not put on a face mask even when I came in wearing one. One other guy who came in did not wear one either, and was talking to Rick standing closely so no doubt they were sharing the same air. Tried to keep my distance but the guy sat down across from me at the tiny table they have there. The other guy who came in, same deal. Rick is not worried about it, and apparently not concerned with those who are. If you don't care either, he might be a good choice, especially if you are down in Florida, his home base.

Captain Rick's Diving Adventures is a great place. They work with your schedule and make sure you learn to scuba safely as possible. They have the best stocked shop around. The pic is from our certification dive in beautiful South Florida. Only Ricks can you go to Sunny South Florida in winter to do your open water dives.

My daughter got certified at Captain Rick's. She was shy about the process, but Rick and his staff made the process so fun and interesting that she is absolutely enthralled about diving, and has really come out of her shell (no pun intended). The staff is very knowledgeable and experienced and make sure the students have fun, while working at their own pace. Wonderful combination of teamwork and learning. And fun!

SCUBA diving was a big bucket list item for me, and after checking out the central Ohio options, I went with Capt Ricks. They were all just as excited for me to scuba as I was to learn. They made the process very easy, lecture and pool time were great, and I chose the final open water cert down in Florida rather than a quarry here in Ohio for the full experience. Really couldn't be happier that I finally pulled the trigger on diving, and very happy that the timing was right and that I ended up in their dive shop one afternoon.

My boyfriend and I decided to take scuba lessons when we enjoyed discover scuba on vacation. We decided on Naui certification and Captain Rick's after researching all the dive shops in Indianapolis area and Columbus, OH area. Captain Rick, Karen and all the staff have very nice and extremely accommodating to our schedule. They have listened and responded to any concerns we have had during our lessons. They have become family to us. Everyone at Captain Rick's make you feel at ease and comfortable quickly and safety is always their number one goal. We have learned and continue to learn from this great group. I've signed my 16 year old daughter to take classes so she can dive with us.Thank you Rick, Karen, Mike, Dave, and Kathy!Nicole May

I learned how to scuba dive at Captain Rick's a few months ago. I loved the fact that the student to teacher ratio was very small as I was really nervous being my first time!! I learned a lot and the staff were great. My daughter is interested in trying scuba diving but I haven't quite convinced her yet. If you haven't tried diving, you should do it!! Breathing underwater for the first time is something I'll never forget!
