I didn't expect a food truck called Capital Ramen to have the best chili dogs I've ever had... I'm not a big ramen guy, which could be because my extensive experience with ramen stops at the store bought packaged ramen you heat up at home. So when this food truck was in the area, I figured I'd best stick to my lunch. One of my colleagues advised me that they have chilli dogs on their menu. In disbelief, I looked through their menu; they have wraps, tacos, chicken dumplings, hot dogs and chilli dogs! I wasn't sure what to expect for $11. Only after I ordered and received my 2 chilli dogs did I realize I got a deal. These were good sized grilled beef hot dogs covered in beef chilli, topped with shredded cheddar, red and green onions. Absolutely plastered in spicy mustard, sweet relish, ketchup and Hawaiian BBQ. They looked AMAZING (check out my picture!), and they tasted even better. These immediately became my favorite chilli dogs, and I'll always be on the look out for this food truck next time they're in the area!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this food truck! We picked up two different ramen bowls: the chicken and the pork. While the menu said that both dishes would have the same lime leaf stock, the flavors were entirely different: the chicken was a little lighter (more limey, gingery) while the pork was a bit richer with just a hint of smoky sweetness. Both were delicious in totally different ways, with a just touch of heat (though you can add more with the additional red pepper flakes they give you). The chicken also had nice crunch to it thanks to the chicken crackling on top. I recommend adding the extra soy-Mirin egg as well! Will definitely be seeking out this truck again and trying their non-ramen options (the tacos and wraps seemed especially tempting)... though the ramen was so good we just may have to get that again too.

Capital Ramen began using Palm sugar (or something like that) in their soup base which in my mind (and palatte) detracts from what was the best base in town. This actually leaves a unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth once the meal is done. They obviously experiment with this (as a good chef is wont to do) because not too long ago they omitted the palm sugar and asked what I thought... my favorite was back! Only then did I realize just how different they were. Alas, it did not last, and the last bowl I had was over-the-top with sweetness. Also gone from the menu is the sauted jalepenos... I am sad.

I've only ever ordered the pork wrap from this food truck, but I don't want to order anything else from anywhere. It's so amazing. If their tacos or whatever are better than the pork wrap that's nice but in that case I might begin to question my grip on reality, bc how could it get any better!I guess it sounds strange to enjoy food so much coming from a ramen truck. "Ramen truck" sounds like something the bad guys accidentally crash into in a 1970s car chase scene set in San Francisco. And granted I am not a foodie but when I think of eating ramen I think of living in a bunker. But this is no maruchan territory. Capital Ramen delivers on the original food truck promise - delicious food that you wouldn't find anywhere else because the people running it seem like total amateurs. The truck is so nondescript- a plain black truck with the menu items written on the side with chalk - while so many other food trucks have super cool design and branding. Yet the pork wrap is mind blowing. It's a black hole event horizon of all flavors compressed into one - sweet spicy bitter burnt-coconut umami salty juicy too late arggghhh *head explodes*. Everytime Capital Ramen comes to my workplace downtown I have to go to it and everytime I get the pork wrap and everytime I eat it like a wolverine and then I look up startled because I seem to have blacked out during the process. Prepare yourself for that if you get the pork wrap. A few months ago I swore off food trucks, bc they're so expensive, but I make an exception for Capital Ramen, it's so worth it. The ladies there are very nice, I just get the 2 sauces that they recommend with the pork wrap, I think they might be space aliens visiting from another planet that is far in advance of us in pork wrap flavor technology. I recommend the pork wrap. Eating it puts you into a womb-like trance state. Everytime I get it I pretty much have to clear my schedule and lock myself in a room for 30 minutes because I don't know what might happen. I had the pork wrap again today and what a flavor experience, I went into another dimension, I saw time, held galaxies in the palm of my hand, met great philosophers from the past, and some how returned to our universe around when the horseradish mustard sauce was gone. Capital Ramen is so darned good!I recommend the pork wrap if you go. One time when I ate it I turned into a werewolf, which makes total sense. Like a full moon Capital Ramen comes by about once a month, and when it does you have to tie me down to a fixed object! And when I'm done eating the pork wrap usually some part of my clothing is torn mysteriously. Capital Ramen -- I recommend the pork wrap!

That pork belly Ramen was oh so delicious! They came to my work a month or two ago and it was one of those really cold days where all you want is soup, too. They had forgotten my spicy lime sauce, so by the time I remembered it I had eaten half of it because it was so good. I'm glad I had half left though when I went back to get it because the pork belly is rather rich and the spicy lime is perfect with it to cut the richness a little. The ladies are wonderful and quick here.

I'm definitely a fan. The Rice Box Extra is my go-to, and I think I've tried all of the sauces but I've pretty well settled on the soy chili for when I get pork and wasabi mustard for the chicken. Rice + your choice of meat or tofu + soy mirin egg + toasted coconut + shredded cabbage + green onions -- probably more, I couldn't even tell you what all is in there - I know this summer they added chunks of oranges to the mix, and it was excellent. They also take text orders, which is handy when there's a long line at the truck.

Good food is also art. This was some of the best ramen I've ever had (and I'm Korean!). These ladies to an amazing job with their food truck. If you're looking for super-friendly service, perfectly tender cut pork, masterfully flavorful soup, and (wow) the most perfect, al denté-cooked, ramen noodles, check out Capital Ramen. I even got to have an authentic buy-it-on-the-street-and-eat-it-downtown experience! My only regret is not having taken time to enjoy every bite more (What? I was hungry!). Keep it going Jewella and Shay, great food - I'll definitely be back!

Capital Ramen food truck has been parking across from City Hall for a few months, and I finally stopped by to try it out. There are three ways to put together your order from CR: Asian wrap, rice bowl, or ramen. Lots of protein options (including tofu), Asian veggies and four sauces to choose from for the wrap or bowl. I ordered a chicken wrap with the chili lime sauce, which was the spiciest option. It was definitely kick-y and a nice citrusy contrast to the veggies and chicken. The wrap was full to bursting - so know it's more take-to-your-desk food than street food. Good, though, and hit the spot without being too heavy.Be aware that this is a one-person truck and because the food is made fresh, service takes a bit longer than expected. However, a couple people in line were obvious regulars, so there is a following already, and with winter coming, a hot bowl of ramen would be perfect for those chilly days.

YUM!! I'd never stopped at this truck before because the concept of just ramen didn't wow me. Today I decided to give it a try. I ordered the pork wrap with spicy lime and chili oil sauces. Holy cow wow, this wrap is delicious. I like spicy foods so the sauces were great - brought some heat but brought even more flavor. Mixed with the toasted coconut sweetness this whole thing was just awesome. The wrap is pretty big so you will definitely not be left hungry.Another reviewer said the service was slow with only one worker, but that may have just been an off day. There were two workers in the truck today, and they were quick with each order. I'll definitely be back!
