Rodger S. "We had a delicious dinner here while staying at the Hampton Inn next door. We started with margaritas that were very tasting--no skimping on the tequila here! For our first course, we shared an order of shrimp ceviche. It was excellent. It was different from most ceviche in that the sauce contained lots of fresh tomatoes. For our main course, we shared an order of the fried chicken breasts. It was good & came with a huge amount of fresh salad that I had for lunch the next day, We also had the fried ice cream for dessert. It came with chocolate & caramel sauce & was very tasty."

Chips and salsa very good; very fresh salsa with good flavor. The menu is not overwhelming but a nice variety. We will be back for sure and I suggest that you give it a try too. Great job on opening day. Congratulations!"

Daniel H. "Pastor torta was really amazing. I've had a handful of other tortas around town and this one certainly competes if not rises above most. The pastor was grilled nicely and had a nice char on it. The quality of the bun was outstanding and nicely grilled, good crunch on the outside and soft on the inside.I also got an adobada burrito which was also great, a little runny/drippy/messy, but great flavors going on. The torta was the star of the show for me though.I also got chips and salsa. The salsa was fantastic, had a nice heat, and nice flavors of fresh cilantro. It tasted fresh. Some of the chips were a little tough, I'm not sure if this happened during time I picked up the food to the time I got home, but not a big enough deal to me for it to effect the overall rating.Price-wise, it's a bit on the pricier side, so I would like to see everything come down a little.Overall fantastic, will be back!"

Chelsea R. "First let me say, if you haven't been to Viva Jalisco, just go. Right now. This is my favorite restaurant in Wellston, hands down. The food is absolutely delicious, the price is right, and there's usually zero wait to be seated! Jalisco is a state in Mexico, and parts of it have a 384 phone prefix just like Wellston :) I'm not sure if Juan was being clever when he named the restaurant , but it's fun trivia anyway! I have tried lots of different dishes here and you really can't go wrong. The Burrito Californiano is a favorite, as well as the Molcajete and the Arroz Con Mariscos. They also make a mean Chile Relleno. And the most important things-the guac, queso, and salsa- are all on point! Their fried ice cream, spopapillas, and flan are perfect to finish your meal. I am going to try the banana chimichanga next. This place basically got me through the early days of the pandemic with their takeout margaritas. Their sweet tea- which is a must-have for the designated driver- is the perfect balance of sweet and strong, and they always keep your glass full. The one drawback is that the service is sometimes slow, but the food is always made to order and super fresh so it's totally worth it. Make sure you bring some change to pick up some gum or a peppermint patty to take with you!"

The salsa is very good.I had the #79 tonight, which is called Choripollo. The Choripollo is chicken breast topped with chorizo. This dish is served with rice, beans and tortillas. The chicken and chorizo mix was excellent.I hate to give this place only three stars because the food is pretty good. The issue I have here is that the couple times I have eaten here, although the food is brought out quickly, the servers never spend more then a couple seconds at your table. Don't expect any recommendations on best dishes or pretty much any kind of interaction. To some people that is ok, but for me, I like to know what's the highly recommend dishes, why they recommend them and a little bit of conversation."

Gwen W. "The husband and wife own this eatery, along with the Mexican grocery store attached. What a nice couple! I couldn't decide if I wanted their Burrito or Torta. They explained they're basically the same, the difference being the bread - tortilla verses a giant bun. Good to know! I went with a Chicken Burrito, and good lord, it's pretty much the size of my head. Packed full, too. No wasted space to leave my tastebuds hanging.Chicken was great! Apparently, this is their most popular burrito meat-filling. Also liked the refried beans. I prefer a more pulverized rendition, and these were on the money. Think I'll get an extra serving of meat, next time, to get some more protein ($1.99 extra). This Burrito lasted me two meals and an afternoon snack. According to the couple, lengua (cow tongue) is very flavorful, and more tender than plain steak. Next mission? Try their Quesadillas with the lengua!"

Nick S. "I was craving a quesadilla while doing some shopping on the East side and found this quaint little spot along East Main Street. La Loteria has been open about a year according to the employee who took my order. When you approach the restaurant, be sure to drive slowly because it's easy to overlook. The strip mall where it's situated is a bit difficult to access and exit as well. Inside, the dining area is bright with vibrant, cheerful colors and artwork. There are a few small booths for 2 person groups and a couple of larger tables for groups more than 2. The menu is located near the ordering window and birria appeared to be a showcase item across several different preparations. Now, to dive into my meal. First, I could immediately tell the quesadilla was filled to the brim with delicious barbacoa, cheese, cilantro, and radish as a garnish. I was also given a mild green sauce, sour cream, and a fiery and smoky red sauce. To add a bit more protein to the mix, I ordered a side of refried beans. The portion was fantastic for the price and I appreciated that they came plain without cheese added in. My reason for rating my experience as a 4 instead of a 5 is that the quesadilla was a bit too messy for my taste. The barbacoa was so rich and fatty that it was difficult to hold the quesadilla and the tortilla became soggy. I ultimately ended up scooping the filling out and eating it with my sauces and toppings on its own. Overall though, this seems Iike a solid place for Mexican food on the East side. I'll be trying other items on their menu."

Steve A. "Plaza looks pretty crappy inside. It kind of smells too but they still have good margaritas. That's the main reason people go there. It also has a small food menu. The service is really annoying but get a drink and you will be okay. I like Mexican food a lot. It's hard to mess it up but they manage to do that. This is why you should get the margaritas and not even worry. It has a huge selection of flavors. They are $5 for a 21 ounce regular. It's a little more for a specialty flavor. The food looks like shit so don't get that. It has very few vegetarian options. The chips and guacamole is kind of bland other than being salty. Chips are about $3 when they should be free. It has such an annoying service process for a restaurant. They make you pay for drinks at the bar, then you have to order food at the checkout and pay for it separate. If you can get past the annoying service process you can have fun. If you can avoid the mediocre food you will be much more satisfied. The margaritas are cheap and you can't go wrong."

I think there might be a "sit down restaurant" downtown but parking is difficult there.So... I didn't take pictures but our food was wonderful! The service was great, and our server was pleasant, on task for any needs at the table and food was priced reasonably. 5 adults with full meals was approximately $75. This is slightly better than Tumbleweed. I had a regular margarita. It's about $3 at happy hour. This is in a pretty small cup, and it's weak. It does have a good lime taste, with the frozen one being better. The food is pretty boring, and lacking taste. I had the vegetable burrito. I just had one person notice I was dining alone at the far end of the bar with a book and they specifically introduce themself to me. Kim W. "Not Your Average TacoI don't know about you, but I hate boring, repetitive things. Getting out of bed. Every single day. Fixing your hair. Every single day. Doing laundry. Every single day. Paying bills. Every single day. Mexican Food. (Okay, a lot, but not every single day.)How did Mexican Food make the list? Because it is usually boring and repetitive (like folding laundry). Every plate looks the same. It's all covered in the same sauces with a side plate of rice/beans/lettuce. Nothing stands out. Nothing slaps you in the face. Nothing says carpe diem!! So, when we made a stop at Chuys Tacos I was prepared for what was to come. Yawn. Margarita, chips and salsa and a good but mundane dish. Nope. Chuys slapped me in the face, hard. Like a slow-mo open handed, wake your a$$ up, scorned woman slap. And I loved it. Their street tacos are AMAZING. In Portland OR there is an authentic Mexican food truck I visited and Chuys could give them a run for their money. My fav? The shrimp street taco. Lightly seared shrimp, cabbage, mango salsa, and a gentle sauce. A little side of pickled carrot, fresh radish and cucumber seems like a small thing, but it isn't. So good. My husband got the nachos grande and said they were the best he's had. The word fresh kept coming up. We had cocktails, local bar level...but good! Here's the bow on the package, they have tons (15?) margarita flavors. Ginger, blackberry, prickly pear, mango....Can't make up your mind? Get a flight of margaritas. Yes. A flight. It made me want to travel, see the world, let the laundry lay in the washer, let my hair whip in the wind. Best part, it's all served with a smile and nothing makes food taste better than that. This tiny little spec of a town holds quite the gem. Stop at Chuys. Tell them Kim sent you. It will mean nothing to them, but it'll make me feel cool. If you go at during the right time of the year, you can finish your meal and walk across the street to the Creamery and get some really good ice cream. Now go make your bed and do the laundry."
