Toshia T. "One of the best family owned restaurants I've been to. It's super small so reservations are encouraged. You definitely feel at home. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the spaghetti and the meatballs were huge!! My friend ordered a seafood pasta and it was delicious. Also, the basil dressing they use for salad dressing is top tier. They also own a bakery next door. We got tiramisu and a hummingbird cake which was phenomenal. Will definitely be back when we're in the area. I didn't get many pictures."

Kiddo got a calzone and had no complaints! The restaurant had some call ins the evening we went, so the owner was bussing tables, and getting boxes. Nice to see someone so involved in their establishment! We will return when we're in the area in the future!"

It's a wonderful restaurant!Every dish we got was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were all very kind and helpful. A great stop for a fancy dinner! Just try to get a res ahead of time. They really know how to do their ambient lighting in here too:)"

Brian was our server and he is the BEST hands down.My group of 6 and I made it out to here to celebrate the birthday of a lovely friend. Making a reservation was easy and so was parking in the lot nearby. The restaurant itself is dimly lit and intimate. My only complaint is that it is insanely loud. But otherwise it is lovely. The food is fantastic. I went with the Orecchiette and it was perfect! I also had a glass of lovely red wine that paired nicely with the pasta. I have no complaints and will definitely be back soon!!"

Mike G. "This is a dining hot spot! I mean, it was Tuesday night at about 6:30 and this place was hopping! Valerie, Libby, and I walked over to explore this place, and we were all pleasantly surprised. It's trendy, upscale, and has an energetic, boisterous ambiance. The dining room seating was on a wait, so we opted for the patio. Our server came right over and was very pleasant and helpful with our questions. Our drinks were tasty and had a good pour. I ordered a Mai Tai / Rum Runner but got something more like a Margarita. Wasn't what I expected, but it was quite good. (I ordered a second drink, just so you know). I decided to go with the "Mr White," which is a delicious white pizza with a nice wood fired oven crust. There was a decent amount of cheese, a pleasing combination of flavors, and a noticeable nutty taste. I also tried Libby's Eggplant and Valerie's Spinach Artichoke pizza, and both were pretty tasty.Good food, good service, and good conversation with long-time friends... What an enjoyable evening! Wheat Penny Oven And Bar is definitely worth checking out for an upscale dining experience."

Be sure to make reservations unless you want to take a chance on getting bar seating. Reservations require credit card."

Miranda L. "Homestyle adjacent Italian food that's quite affordable. Is the food going to change your life? Nope but will you leave with a filled stomach, sure will. I have been in Columbus just shy of a decade, have lived just around the corner from Villa Nova for most of that, and only in the last year have I found myself visiting Villa Nova. This always busy spot is surely well loved with a full parking lot.Daily specials are listed on the board as you enter. To the left is the restaurant seating and to the right is the bar. Bar is fairly comfortable, with swivel backed bar height chairs and hooks under the bar to hang items. Lighting is dim but somehow seems bright enough for the space despite the time of day. Happy hour extends until 9 on Mondays. There's always popcorn and sometimes a pizza to snack on in the bar area. Drink prices are approachable. House wines can be gotten in a glass, half carafe, or full carafe. Bartenders have always been attentive, quick, and friendly. Pasta servings are multiple meals huge. Bread sticks are best when hot. Cheese marbles are always melted and browned nicely. The fried ravioli are just what you expect them to be. Crispy and melty, nice when dipped in marinara. Italian sub sandwiches with banana peppers & onions are made even better if you ask for oil & vinegar. Looking for something a little different, check out their taco pizza. Beans as the sauce, ground beef, lettuce, diced tomatoes, a whole lot of shredded cheddar cheese with taco sauce on the side. Seems odd at first but it's just a perfect creation."

After living in Columbus for almost ten years, I think this is my favorite restaurant in the city. We've been here for many birthdays and special events and will continue to come back for many more.La Tavola is very small and intimate, so be sure to make a reservation! I simply cannot say enough good things about the food - it truly is as good as the Italian food I ate while I was in Italy. My fiancé and I order the beef bolognese to share without question every single time, and we usually also try to find a pasta on their daily rotating menu to share as well just to try something new. But the beef bolognese is an absolute non-negotiable, it's one of the best things I have ever eaten. If I had to choose my last meal before I die I think that might be it. Please go to La Tavola and try it so you can understand my obsession! :) Outside of the bolognese, I have had some absolutely sensational gnocchi at La Tavola as well as some seafood inspired pastas. They also have fantastic cocktails (one of the best dirty martinis I've had in Columbus) and a great selection of Italian wines. I love this place so freaking much and can't wait until the next time I come back again!"

The mozzarella contrasts with the well seasoned focaccia and sharpness of the Pecorino is a match made in heaven! The rest of my party enjoyed it as well! I had a Chicken Parmesan which came out really well. The environment is white table cloth fine dining, but the prices are pretty fair. Our server was very attentive and refilled our bread several times! This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Grandview Area so far, and I'll definitely be back"

I've never had to wait long for a table even though it always seems to be busy. The service here is quick and friendly. There's a strong nostalgic vibe here that probably has a lot to do with how long this restaurant has been open. My son loves the chicken tenders. He can be pretty pick about them, but he really likes theirs. I've mostly just stuck to the garlic bread and wedding soup, but the other appetizers I've tried have all been really good. If you're getting the garlic bread, sometimes it comes out really crispy. Like sometimes it feels like a giant crouton, but other times it perfect with crispy crust and pillowy inside. I just ask if they can make sure the bread doesn't get too toasted and it hasn't been an issue since. Otherwise I have no complaints. The food is great, I never go without a refill, and it's overall an amazing value for the very reasonable prices they charge."

Uptown has convenient parking with several lots, and is very walkable! The DORA also makes it fun to explore, especially on a summer night. Koble is a grab a table and order at the counter option (which is not the vibe I would have immediately expected) but nicer than most restaurants this style and the waiters still bring you your food! They have a large bar and menu with food options to please everyone. I was very pleased with my Greek salad - I forgot to take a picture before I started but tons of toppings, an appropriate amount of dressing (though you can always get it on the side), and a delicious warm pita! Demetrius B. "Pizza-centric but don't sleep on the bread, wine and dessert. Got a table for two on a Friday night around 8:00 without a reservation. I was surprised at the large size of the place because you only see one half of the dining room when walking in the front door. We sat in the second room with the bar, and the dim lights set a perfect date night ambiance. Upon being seated we received a plate of their focaccia and oil, and it stands out in a great way against other Italian restaurants. From there we had three glasses of wine at about $10-$11 per glass. The fall harvest pizza had a spicy kick (as described on the menu) and was solid. I liked prosciutto hot honey pizza a little better, but I feel like I would have liked any of their pizzas due to the not too crisp/not too thin thin flatbread crust. Finished up with the voodoo brownie and tiramisu. Tiramisu was good; voodoo brownie topped with ice cream and drenched in chocolate was great. Lastly the service was outstanding. Very nice and attentive, and they smoothly handled the gift certificate that we used for a portion of the tab. Can you say pricy? I ordered a 16" pizza with extra cheese ($23). Everything is made from scratch here so it took over 20 minutes to be delievered to the table. This time delay only encouraged me to have another draft, The pie was cut into 8 pieces as are the 12" ($16) and the 20" ($29). It is featured as a New York style pie with a semi-thin crust. Liz A. "I was looking for an Italian restaurant that was NOT Olive Garden. Mom loves OG and I hate it as I only get salads and OG has no salad option. Yes, I know they have the endless soup, salad, breadsticks. But all I want is a decent salad and not one drowning in OG dressing. Mom loves the tour of Italy - essentially the lasagna. So I was looking in Westerville as she also wanted to drive thru Otterbein as she had been on the campus 65 years + ago. As luck had it, I found Cardone's on Yelp. I peaked at the menu and it looked fine. A little pricier than I had hoped but I also think I need to get used to higher restaurant prices. We did not have reservations and the waiter that greeted looked down his nose at us as a result. Sorry - never been here before so I didn't know that all the cool people make reservations. Fortunately, they had a couple open tables for "people like us" - as well as outdoor seating. Nevermind that they had PLENTY of other empty tables that were not filled while we were there. In fact, not many people came to eat in while we were there, I think every single person walking in the door was picking up carry out.But back to our meal - we were seated in one of the 2 tables for non-reservation people and were lucky enough to have David as our server. He did not look down his nose at us and didn't make us feel bad for only getting water and a diet cola for drinks. Neither Mom nor I drink alcohol and she doesn't even do tea or soda. She's strictly a water girl.I had to help Mom with the menu as she wasn't sure what bolognase sause was. She wanted the lasagna but has a very bland palate and avoids all spicy dishes. So she was good with the lasagna and side salad. I, on the other hand, was happy to pick from several salads and add a protein. I went with the Cardone's salad ever though I don't normally like fruit with my greens. I added chicken and we were set.David brought us a basket of warm bread which was absolutely delicious! I usually don't do carbs but I hadn't eaten all day and just had to try and piece in the olive oil. I love the heals and this one did not disappoint. In fact, I may have also eaten the other heal in the basket. But I'm not owning it.Meals arrived in good time. Mom's lasagna came in a nice square bowl. She absolutely LOVED it, eating more despite being full and saying she was done. As a follow up - she took some home in a doggie bag and it was just as delicious on reheat for lunch the following day.My salad was also superb. The perfect size and built in a lovely bed of greens. The fruit choice was just perfect and complimented the grilled chicken and vinaigrette that came with it. I ate and enjoyed every bite.So I was vindicated for taking us to an Italian restaurant that was not OG as the lasagna was likely better than her usual favorite with the tour of italy. Will I be back? Not sure. Hubby works up this way and I'll mention it for future consideration. Final thanks to David for making great suggestions and being so friendly and helpful."
