Buns Restaurant

I am very sad to say that I don't think we will be making it back here. This place use to be super busy, have a big extensive menu, and be very home style. Now, they aren't too busy, the interior was remodeled to a more contemporary style, and the menu is small on a printer piece of paper. We came for the Hamloaf which we have been getting for a long time throughout the years. It came out sliced very thin, and pretty dried out. It has definitely lost its charm.

Buns was established in the mid 1800's. A large restaurant filled with booths and tables. The bar area is located in an adjacent room with out door seating. Plenty of space to have a party. I have to say, now I know why they have been around for sooo long. They know how to do food!! Definitely delicious! Worth a trip back. Do yourself a favor and stop in. The staff is top notch.

Went here on a week night for dinner with the girls. The restaurant has private parking, which isn't too common in Delaware. It's also family run by siblings. The food was ok, fries were well seasoned while the burger patty was bland. I had a classic cheeseburger with a veggie patty. Fair warning, the menu says it charges for a substitution for onion rings or side salad without mentioning the veggie one so slight annoyance. Didn't look like they had any vegan options and very limited vegetarian options. Not sure which if anything is gluten free. The friends had coffee, wine, fish and chips, and salad topped with chicken. They both enjoyed the salads quite a bit. The coffe was reportedly bad. The fish n chips were so greasy the paper was visibly soaked as was the napkin she dabbed. The fish n chips were replaced with another salad with chicken. The server was friendly and accommodating. The building was a large airy brick building with plenty of tables. They also offer carry out.

Having just watched a bag of ice been dropped on the dirty bar floor and then not only emptied into, but the now dirty (with debris on one side of it) bag been completely inserted into the ice bin contaminating all the ice. The bar lady did not care even after we pointed it out and continued using the "dirty" ice: this was disgusting!THIS IS A SERIOUS HEALTH VIOLATION, there is no way I would trust the food coming from their kitchen!!!

Love, Love, Love. Been here four times since they reopened. We've had the burgers, chicken tenders, salads, apps and recently the club sandwich. All are recommended. Service has always been wonderful. Kimberly is very sweet and attentive. The inside is now open too. Come by and check them out.

The food is meh. The service was ok. The interior needs a little TLC. Our table was sticky like it needed to be really well cleaned. I know this restaurant has historic significance but that's about all it has going for it.

Oriental chicken salad was AWFUL! Ground chicken cooked and flooded with teriyaki sauce. Maybe 2 little pieces of lettuce on the other side of the bowl. It WAS Strange. The chicken salad plate had hard fruit and a grocery store unripe tomato. It is summer time! How hard is it to get fresh fruit and vegetables? This place has such history and should be banging it out of the park! They have a great outside bar, plenty of parking and walkable. It's a shame. Great servers!!

Went for lunch today.Server was so friendly!!!' Busy, lots of people there.Had their Potato soup ( made in house) it was fantastic, perfect meal for a cold rainy day!! Chunks of potato, bacon , chives, it warmed me clear through!!!Hubby had a Reuben, was fantastic.

Met family for the new brunch today. New management has really created something great. Very generous portions and reasonable prices. Fun waitstaff. I can see where it might get a bit loud when it gets busy. The outside area is going to be awesome when all of the garage doors go up.

Went to buns when it was under old ownership and did not have a good experience. We decided to give it a try now that there is new ownership and we were not disappointed at all. We love the atmosphere and the staff were extremely friendly. They went above and beyond. Even brought us mint from their garden to keep the bees away from our car seat. The food was delicious and good beer selections. We are already talking about going back.
