Brenen's Coffee Cafe

Spent the weekend in Athens to visit a friend and stopped by this gem before we headed back up. Wasn't expecting much but honestly was very very good. They were no only fast but service was very welcoming even when it was super busy. Got a sausage egg and chz sandwich on a bagel and that was amazing. Along with a great coffee. Setting was nice and if I'm ever back in town I'll be back

Brenen's is an outstanding sandwich shop and coffee bistro in Athens. The coffee bar is to the left and the deli sandwich counter to the right as you enter. Sandwiches are numbered which makes it easy to order. You have a choice among five different types of bread and a wide variety of sandwiches. I've tried cold and hot sandwiches and they are all very good. Chips or a choice of coleslaw or yogurt come with a sandwich. If you do not want a beverage, water is available.

Stopped by this place for lunch on a visit to Athens. I have not had a latte this good in a long time. I ordered their cranberry Turkey sandwich on a pita. It comes with Turkey, cranberry sauce, cheese and spinach. A simple, yet delicious meal. Their sandwiches also come with a side (i chose a bag of chips) and a pickle spear. Everything was great, and as I said earlier, the coffee was amazing. I ordered an iced Milky Way latte. It was made with real chocolate and caramel, but definitely not for those without a sweet tooth. Highly recommend this local business.

I heavily enjoy the food and drinks from here! It does take a while to get through the line and get food most of the time however it's never horrible. It's not the best food I've had in my life but I do like a nice sandwich every once and a while. Best peppermint hot chocolate in athens though.

You know a place is good when you can see a whole menu and order the same thing over and over and over and over again. That's the case with Brenen's. I have been eating at Brenen's for over 10 years and the triple crown sandwich on a pretzel bun has consistently been amazing for those 10 years. Employees come and go in a college town but the quality of Brenen's remains the same. The atmosphere is relaxed and fits in perfectly in a college town. Brenen's various coffee drinks and smoothies are also excellent. There are so many to choose from that they have something for you whether you like black coffee or a sugary drink piled high with whip cream. Brenen's owners and staff truly cares about the Athens community. During the COVID-19 pandemic they've been giving free lunches to those in need.

Tried Nutty Irishman, one of their speciality drinks.Asked for less sweet but still too sweet for me. Not my thing.Nice place to study for students though!

I could not wait to give this review .. Amazingly terrible.... OMG It started with my order of three sandwiches , the shop was not terribly busy in this afternoon . I ordered and I waited , I saw people get their food who ordered after me during the 20 minute wait . I went to the counter and asked about my food , the counter girl said, " oh , I was waiting to see if you wanted anything else " REALLY !! Waiting till when ? The next day .. Then it gets better , we ordered the Turkey and pesto sandwich , We get the sandwich, and it has no meat in it .. Oops ! The counter person responded , we are short handed today ...as she said that one girl says " bye , I'm going home" This place is poorly run by non thinking students .. How about , " I'm sorry about this", not one apology .. Oh and the sandwich after it was made correctly.... Needs big time improvement.

Nice coffee shop. Seem to have a good amount of students in there with an array of coffee and sandwiches.

Good price but sand which was so burnt and had almost no salsa. The americano was horrible and I couldn't finish it.

The bottom of my coffee cup dissolved and broke in the middle of a meeting. I got covered in scolding coffee. Please invest in better cups brennens.
