First time at the Bratwurst Festival. Lots of food vendors and few Bratwurst variety except for the Pita shredded bratwurst. I did purchase a upside down umbrella! Not much of a crowd but today is the first day and it was early. Parking is $5 and lots of lots close to where the festival is in downtown Bucyrus.

The Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival happened to line up perfectly with our trip from C-bus to the Catawba Island area... It was a great lunch stop and a good way for us to stretch our legs halfway through the trip. That being said, it's probably still worth a trip of its own for the following reasons.1. Lots of gratuitously fried fair food. I personally feel everyone needs at least one good helping per summer... If you haven't had it yet, this is the perfect late summer outlet.2. Lots of good bratwurst! Schmidt's was represented, as well as many local bratwurst. Between the two of us, we tried about every variety... Now the only question is rye and peppers or white and sauerkraut!3. Entertainment: a parade every day, as well as a ton of fun to watch events like eating contests, etc.All in all, the event was convnient for us, and a fun way to spend a few hours. If you're in the area late in the summer, why not give it a try?

For country fairs it's as good as it gets! I went to the festival growing up and have some great memories. It still an awesome event and must see if youre in the crawford county area during late summer!! A great American pastime.
