This is the one beer my partner had. When I asked for a menu the server just pointed at this. They in fact had more canned beer.

Staff was very rude. Girl with chunky blonde highlight and pink highlights. No reason to be mean, I know it's busy but still.

I thought we would try this place out for lunch for my birthday. First, it is not clear where to enter to be seated. There were no signs to let you know if you need to wait to be seated or seat yourself. After wondering around for a couple of minutes looking for an employee to find out where to be seated, I finally saw one and asked if we needed to wait to be seated or sit anywhere. He looked around confused and said, "yeah, sure."We wanted to sit outside so we could look out over the lake, but there were only a few empty tables in the shade and none of them had been cleaned from the previous customers. There were tables close to the lake right in the sun, but they didn't have umbrellas or anything to block the sun.We finally found a clean table in the bar area where we were quickly greeted by the bartender. She got us drinks and took our order. That was the last we saw of her until I walked up to the bar at the end of our meal to pay. When we got our food, my wife's food was wrong. She ordered the blackened Mahi sandwich and was brought the chicken sandwich instead. I attempted to get the bartender's attention, but she was too busy. I finally flagged down another waitress who informed us that the sandwich was entered wrong and she would get the correct sandwich right out to us. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The food was mediocre and expensive. The Mahi sandwich and two tacos came to almost $50. After waiting at the bar for a few minutes until the bartender who took out ordered was able to spare time to see what I wanted, I asked her for our bill. She asked if anyone came to get the chicken sandwich, because she was going to leave it on the bill if it was still at our table. That rubbed me the wrong way. She made the mistake. It shouldn't matter if the sandwich was still on the table. Were you going to re-sell it? I hope not.It was a very disappointing visit and needless to say, I only left a 12% tip and we will not be returning.

This is a bitter sweet review as I have always liked the boatyard. It's a small place, but the outdoor patio setup makes up for it, especially waterfront. I come here for the margaritas, one of the best on the lake. They normally have live music, and recently added food. This is where is goes a bit sour for me. I tried a burger and fries, which are extra btw. Burger was just okay, standard flavor nothing impressive. The fries were raw the first round. Mushy, oily, and cold/frozen in the middle. I told the server who went back and retrieved another order. The second round was cooked, but my appetite had left when the cold fry was introduced. Great place for music, brew and lake views. I'll eat before going next time.

They need to change the name. It's a bar without even a frozen pizza to eat. Service was okay. What a great view. Don't show up hungry like we did. You will be hungry still when you finish your drink.

Gotta love the boatyard. It opened at some point just before or during the pandemic, and it has become my favorite spot on the lake since then. The hybrid/open air setup in the summer right along the water makes for a breezy island atmosphere. It backs up right against the bike path, which makes for amazing people watching also. It's definitely a staple area on the more 'touristy' side of the lake-- just a few steps from the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club.My favorite drink for those vacation vibes days has to be a mermaid water! Turquoise tangy sweet deliciousness. They also make great bloodys. If you want the extra fixins with all the toppings you might have to ask-- if you don't want them, you might end up getting them anyway and paying extra, it just depends on the bartender or how many toppings snacks they have that day. Either way they're both good, they're just different prices. They also have different food trucks that come there-- they're really good about using social media to tell which food truck they have that day and the times. That's also where you can find the schedule when they offer live music on the patio!

Walk up, seat yourself, and a server comes to wait on you. We were approached quickly, things went smoothly, service was good. We had a few burgers which were solid and fairly reasonably priced. Drinks were $10 each. Salad was priced a bit high @ $15 in comparison to the other items. The location is a stone's throw from the lake, live music to boot. Overall, solid place, just wish it was a bit more reasonably priced. Our final bill came in at over $70. I'd say if you're at BL and in the mood for decent bar food and drinks, and want to sit close to the lake, it's a solid choice.

Top note: it's a pandemic and special rules right now and yet not a single server is wearing a mask at all Second: the place looks cute and everyone seems nice though at times inexperienced. More general:I really do appreciate the partitions not only between tables but also between certain seats at the bar. I often can't sit at a bar during this time and it was nice. The bar only had a chalk (not easily read at a distance) menu for their draft. They didn't have a list of their cans. When I sat my partner already had a can. I asked for a menu and the bartender said they don't have any. I pointed at the beer my partner had an asked where the list of those were. She just mentioned a few out loud. I ordered something on draft. It was kicked (totally fine). She asked someone to change it but I just said something else was fine. Thank goodness because there were no more kegs of what I had ordered I later learned. Back to the no menu: they mean they don't serve food. Despite the name they don't have their own grill. I read another very helpful review that explained that even before quarantine they had a plan to only use food trucks for a year. Disappointing. We chose this place strictly for the grill in the name. Had a drink and left for a nearby place with food. The decor was really cute. The place was totally clean. If you boat up, looks convenient and lovely. Will still visit next summer probably when they have a food menu.

Our first visit to Boatyard - this place will be a perfect place for stop while boating or visiting Buckeye Lake - I will give an update after they get a few more months under their belt to improve the experience. It was a sunny day and they had 10-12 customers, beer selection is great and the place is very clean (of course it is new) and decorated well for its location at Buckeye Lake. They have Touch Tunes, I would have spent some money to play music, but the bartender had a TV channel on a music station, which she changed three times in about 10 mins, no big deal, but I didn't want to be that guy to ask her to turn it off.She is very polite and attentive, I heard her mention she is in barender school - that's cool. She also must have had some of her close friends in, they carried on conversation the entire time we were there - kinda annoying, but I am probably expecting too much for a place that is new.The second beer we ordered was a dollar off, I asked, "Is it happy hour?" Her response, I really don't know, I just kinda go with it, as she gestures towards the computer! . Maybe the schooling will help her a little with being knowledgeable with that sort-of thing.Update - her boyfriend, I think, shows up to eat pizza with the friends and the bartender shrares, while she is behind the bar - now again, this is probably me expecting too much, but my experience in the service industry, eating in front of customers is a big No-No, because now she has greasy fingers while she grabs a pint glass or while opening a beer. Just take some slices to the back room to snack on.We will definitely look forward to when they have food, nope, scratch that, they are only doing food trucks this year I guess. (She just let us know). I hope they update folks of that before the summer boating season starts - if not there will be some very disappointed people showing up to get a bite, based on the name - "Boatyard Tavern & Grill"I will keep you all updated of our next experience.

The only concern I have is the mayo that they give you in the condiment caddy should be refrigerated. It's made with raw eggs. I usually put mayo on my burger but didn't want to get sick. So I ate it without.

Customer or employee brought their dog in the bar....against Licking county health dept regulations....not a seeing eye dog....I have a dog too but I don't take it into a bar or restaurant...bad on you Boatyard. They never are one for observing any rules or regs just like during pandemic ...ignored all state mandated regs for that too..now dogs inside...I like dogs too but not where I drink or eat...it's not asking too much.
