Black Dog Tavern

Now that's a burger! Get the one with the fried egg. Absolutely delicious and always perfectly cooked. Run down your chin juicy burger goodness. Our family loves the Black Dog Tavern.

How did my review disappear????Anyway, I have eaten here many times and golfed here at Deer Ridge A few times too. This is a great place to grab an awesome burger. The food isn't fancy, it's just great! The restaurant is spotless and clean. The atmosphere is calming and very "homey" as it is a giant log cabin with beautiful views of the golf course. The staff are always friendly and attentive. My glass has never been empty there. If you're in Belleville, you owe it to yourself to stop in.

My wife and I stopped in after a few hours on the road while heading back to Mount Gilead. We have not been there in a few years, maybe more than that. That said we thought the service and food was very delicious! The pickle chips were crispy and tasty. Served with a dill sauce. My wife's chicken Parmesan was, huge and delicious. The only downside was that the pasta was not properly drained. My Reuben sandwich was tasty and the accompanying homemade chips were delicious as well!

After a long day of hiking, this place hit the spot!! Fun energetic ambiance. There was even a wedding party downstairs. It's located on a beautiful golf course and sitting by the windows feels like being transported away from everyday stressors. I got the Buffalo sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was good. I'm just sad I could save room for the homemade pop tarts Just means another visit is needed

Great location, good staff, relaxing environment with a fireplace & a great view. We hope to pass by again sometime. We had a group of five & everyone left better than they came. :) Burgers were delicious. Some of the best we've had. Fried pickles were good with their house made chipotle ranch. The kid got Cajun pasta & said it was really good. The chicken wraps were good too. Fresh ingredients.Don't forget your pie!

Made a stop traveling through the area. Part of a golf course. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Food was good nothing outstanding but reasonably priced.

This has been our second time to the Black Dog Tavern. The first time was lovely and the food was great, this time however was not a great experience. We had a party of 7 for my husband's birthday and made reservations because on a saturday night this place is pretty busy. Our server seemed to have a lot of tables and was constantly on the move but from the moment she got to our table she had an attitude. She seemed like she rather be doing anything else than helping us. After we got our drinks we had a little accident and a wine glass broke, we started cleaning up the table, and she told us she would be over to clean up the glass. She took the wine glass off the table and whatever pieces were left but didn't get the large chunks off the floor. We had napkins and wine still on the table waiting for her to come back. She never did come back to clean it, she looked at it multiple times walking past it but still nothing. When we ordered food we were greeted with a, "What do you want?" instead of a What can I get you or something more warm and less of a I don't want to be here helping you. My brother-in-law was intrigued by the special and when he asked what exactly it was her response was that she had no idea and no one had ever gotten it. Even if no one had ordered it before a little knowledge of what the special is would be nice for your customers to sell it. When our food came the food runner stepped on it and didn't realize it was glass on the floor, she kindly picked it up but at that point, it shouldn't have been there in the first place to step on. There was also some sort of dance going on so lots of young girls in open-toed shoes were walking around which also could have meant glass in their feet. Our food was good and we decided on dessert since it was my husband's birthday. We ordered the pie and asked for it with ice cream, I told my husband I didn't think she heard the ice cream part and he repeated it to which she said, "I know, do you want vanilla?" It again was off-putting and rude but it was whatever at that point. Sadly the pie came and did not have ice cream on it. It is a little detail but for her to rudely let him know that she knows he asked for it the first time and it to not be there was frustrating. At the end of the day we probably won't be back and even if you are busy you are in the service industry, if you don't like dealing with people maybe you should do something else.

Wonderful service! Gorgeous patio views and good food, too. Amanda was the bartender and even though she was super busy, she talked to us and made us feel at home. The sauces and several dishes are made from scratch. The sweet dill vinaigrette was yummy! The sweet bourbon bbq was also very tasty. I've attached menus photos because I couldn't find them online before we went. My husband and I highly recommend stopping by for a bite to eat. We're not golfers, but the course looked beautiful! Note: the tap handles above the bar don't match what is currently on tap.

First, we love BDT - we even had our wedding reception here. The Reuben is the reason I love it here. Something has changed. I asked for a corned beef Reuben and honey mustard for my fries. What I got was grilled ham and definitely not corned beef. And I had to ask 2x for honey mustard - at which point my fries were cold. Waitress was so nice about it, but agreed it was definitely not their corned beef on my sandwich.Maybe we'll try again during patio season.

Most times I write a review it's only because it was so bad I have to warn others not to make the same mistake. But black dog tavern is absolutely the exception. Living in Mansfield most of my life and Bellville for a chunk of it as well I'm baffled that today was my first experience here. Me and my wife decided to check it out today. The beautiful scene outside ( in the end of February mind you), amazing food (including an amazing garlic aïoli burger, pasta, apple pie with ice cream and a queso dip better than any Mexican restaurant), and fantastic service, this is a true gem. The burger and fair fries were amazing and only 13.99( when McDonalds you are lucky to get out for $10) and the beautiful wood interior and stone fireplace are a charming setting to eat. I for sure will be back for drinks at their bar or dinner with the wife or lunch alone for that matter, it's just a matter of how quick!! Highly recommend
