Full disclosure: I personally do not pay for the membership. I was able to visit and my impression was that it is brighter and less crowded than Costco. If you're sick if the crowds at Costco, consider BJ's. Perhaps because it is new, it's really sparse. I was even hoping for more people to show up.Also ge the cookie at the concession stand -- it's huge!

Was a member for a single year. Got the veterans membership pricing. Got ripped off on the renewal as BJ's on cares about money. They lost me as a member, and a negative review to any friends that ask about it.

Your basic wholesale experience.... Food, clothing, household items, electronics.... Much like Sam's Club and Costco but this really is aimed at families. You don't need a membership to shop here but you do need a membership to get the discount. We came at a time where they gave a amplified discount to your next purchase if you joined their tiered membership. It made the membership be ultimately 30 bucks and then we get a discount on gas.For clothing they have Eddie Bauer, Woolrich, Nautica coats, seven7 (not seven for humanity) which all seem a bit down graded from Costcos brands.

Between the coupons and the super speedy curbside pick up, I can't imagine ever returning to the chaos that is Costco. While BJs is smaller, I've always been able to get everything I need. All the extras at Costco were just distractions for me.

It is better than I first expected. It's not Costco so not carrying what they do, but that's ok. Their produce and deli were very good and well priced. We joined at my husband's insistence while I didn't want another membership. But it's fine as I get to know more and more what they have. Checkout is a breeze and they offer coupon books by mail which you click and load onto your membership card. Did I need BJ's along with Giant Eagle and Costco? Yes. Yes, I do.

I used 3 stars. In my opinion it is average, at best. It meets as many expectations as it misses. Pros:It is easy in and easy out, less traffic. Probably not what is good for the store. I like the unusual items they offer. They have deli meats and cheeses pre-sliced or as you wait at a good price. The meat counter offers a great selection of items not in other stores or at least out in the open without asking for like chuck roll, sirloin and other items in whole or broken down. Good frozen food selection. So a few nice items but much the same as the others. Cons:Coupons. It is the worst idea for a "wholesale" store. Is it wholesale or retail. Trying to be both. I really cannot stand that if you have a coupon and use your cellphone to scan the item that has coupons will automatically be deducted from your purchase, HOWEVER, if you use the scanner at the register they do not automatically deduct it from your purchase. In other words, the IT department was told, "if a customer uses their cellphone to scan an item, automictically apply the coupon. If a customer use the hand scanner at the register disable that function."I an a huge advocate of the hand scanner. I put up all UPC codes facing up load my cart and 40 quick click and done at the register. The best Hand scanner is #1 Sam's Club, fast and no need to unload cart to weigh or use coupon. #2 Costco, no coupons but they make you take everything out of the cart and put on scale, this is stupid since they have at least 2 people keeping an eye out for missed items and then you'll need to have it rechecked again at exit. #3 BJs, I can't get over the coupons. Either have it on sale like Sam's of Costco or don't. Don't make customers jump through hoops to not lose money because a coupon was missed. Kind of like a bait and switch, their business model is that there is a certain percentage of people will forget of just not scan the coupons and that additional profit they count on.

RUDE!.. Today was definitely last trip to B.J. Wholesale Club in Lewis Center. While doing our Sunday grocery shopping, I found a pair of shorts (Blue and white in the phone below) that scanned $16.99 vs the $12.99 clearly marked 12.99 in the photo. We were the self-scan and put on the attendant light, but there B.J. Members to be found (the lady next to us was having issues as well and was trying to get assistance and expressed her frustration) A gentleman came down the stairs from the office after waiting over 10 minutes. We explained the pricing issue and offered to show him we found them to confirm the price. This was not a big deal at the time, things happened, but wanted to check and confirm. His response was "WOW that be the deal of the century" - VERY Sarcastically! After a few other rude commitments, he agreed to go look at the price along with me and he muttered on the way " I am going to get me some them shorts that is a deal" again sarcastically along with other unnecessary comments. After scanning and reviewing the items for quite some time he says, "Looks like someone miss-marked them, that's just bad luck for you." We left after that and will be canceling our members on Monday. It is very disappointing; we were extremely excited about the opening of B.J. and were big fans, but I will never set foot back in that store. All I can say is sorry Costco, I should have never left you!
