Located in the North Market, this BBQ gem offers classic pork and beef options. The pork ribs were outstanding, with a smoky flavor that easily ranks among the top three we've ever tried. The pulled pork was pleasantly non-greasy--a definite plus--but it was slightly colder than anticipated. The mac and cheese were fairly standard, while the coleslaw stood out with its sweet twist, making it a delightful choice for those with a sweet tooth. No actual pictures of our dishes are provided as the forks were faster than my cellphone camera.Overall it's recommended.

This is a popular place, with reason: the food is delicious and the portions are great. My teenage son had the macaroni and cheese with pork, while I had the BBQ bowl with smoked pork, plus the cornbread. I used their sweet and smoky sauce, too, which was delicious. My bowl had rice, a variety of high quality beans, and Brussels sprouts, along with the meat; it was incredibly hearty. We ate our food in the dining room upstairs, which was a very nice space.

I love BBQ, but I hate BBQ sauce. Excuse me m'am, what? You heard me. BBQ sauce ruins good BBQ. Actual BBQ is cooked low and slow with a mountain of spices to bring out the natural flavor of the smoke they're cooking in. I do not visit chain restaurants like Dickey's and City Barbecue because they're not serving BBQ. They're serving dried out jerky with a side of sweet baby rays and slapping the "BBQ" moniker on the side. What a disgrace!Barrel & Boar on the other hand, serves BBQ. They woke up at 2am to start servicing the smoker that would eventually create the most tender, mouthwatering piece of brisket this side of the Mississippi. They lovingly and painstakingly rubbed every single chicken wing with 49 spices from North Market Spices so the flavor bomb I experienced whilst eating them ensured I needn't dunk them in anything. They...they...okay, they may have not done any of that, but they gave me burnt ends!I am not much for pulled pork or ribs. I rate my BBQ experience by brisket, just like any good Texan. (I'm not Texan). I want the fatty part - it needs to melt in my mouth like BUTTUH. Or bone marrow. Or the fatty part of the ribeye. Basically, I need to feel like I am at risk for gout while I'm enjoying my food. Boy oh boy do I get that feeling when I'm eating Barrel & Boar brisket.I always get the three meat platter when I arrive at Barrel & Boar's booth. Same thing fivever - wings, fatty brisket, and burnt ends. I'll get sides because I'm dumb and fat. I didn't come here for grits or the Mac and cheese. I came here for the MEATS!The meats always deliver. The wings are large, heavily seasoned, and smoked to perfection. Two pieces of brisket will delicately lay on top of each other so the fat is enclosed - it's like opening a Christmas present! And the burnt ends - those beautiful burnt ends - I spend a solid three days after eating them every time contemplating how much it would cost to have a cereal bowl full of them every morning for breakfast. I then calculate what little disposable income I have into the equation, and just barely decide living within my means is a better decision than declaring bankruptcy over the meat sweats. If you're looking for BBQ sauce flavor, Kroger has a sale on brisket and Kraft BBQ sauce this week - $4.49/lb, and 79 cents a bottle, and you can obliterate your meat into oblivion with some tangy ketchup. If you're looking for BBQ, you go to Barrel & Boar - and you go early, because I WILL buy their daily supply of burnt ends, and I am NOT sharing.

Recently came here before they were closing up their shop and wanted to try one of their samplers to go. It took a while but their brisket and chicken was out of this world and you'll still feel full the next day so it was worth the price. My sole complaint was that they ran out of water bottles and I had to wait in a long line next door. Service was pretty friendly as well.

The food was fantastic. The staff had an attitude. We were charged twice for our meal - the cashier said he would resolve it, but both pending charges ended up going through. We've tried calling North Market but haven't been able to get ahold of anyone to resolve the issue. It's a shame.

Excellent brisket and pulled pork, but the real standout is THE BURNT ENDS! Not many other places in Columbus offer them regularly, and these are outstanding. Reasonable prices, too. I got the Meat Sampler, with burnt ends, sliced brisket and pulled pork for $17.50. About 14 ounces of meat! The brisket and pork were not as smokey as I prefer, but the burnt ends were. Their mustard-based sauce is their best, in my opinion. Their cornbread is very good, also. Nice and moist and it doesn't crumble to pieces when you bite into it. No need to order ahead online (which costs the business money). Just go and make your order at the counter and it will be ready almost immediately.

I had a quick lunch here while at a conference nearby and had burnt ends brisket and Brussel sprouts. This was not that great in flavor, tenderness, or portion size for the cost. The guy serving the orders and running the register moves pretty slow. Altogether, disappointing.

Usually liked this place, so much so, I decided to skip the traditional Thanksgiving Day meal and order (2 weeks ahead of time) 75$ worth of food for "pick-up" on TG day. Ordered the food, got e-mail confirmation to pick up 11:45am TG day.-Day before TG day, ANOTHER email confirm to pick up tomorrow at 11:45am-Drive there, doors closed, call the number on the email, Message says, "We are open only at Gahanna location today." Err, drive over to Gahanna location, CLOSED! WHAT?-After 45 minutes of wasted driving went home and can't get food bc all places are close or pre-ordered meals!-Next day call a different number that was on my credit card transaction receipt. Picks up and it is owner of B and B. Seems a legit mistake that they didn't make it clear that they were not open in several different ways. Somewhat takes responsibility for it.-Makes clear he will refund my purchase AND give a Gift Certificate for my troubles. COOL!-Refunded the next day...PLUS!-3 days goes by but not gift card in my email so I text again asking if he sent it bc I didn't receive it. He responds, "not yet, will definitely by the end of today. That was Thursday. it is now Sunday and still nothing.-Mistakes happen, sucky timing of the mistake as it pretty much ruined out TG day. But, to clearly be inattentive in the proceeding interactions shows the FIRST mistakes were not 1 off.Won't shop here again and tell everyone I know of this experience.

Absolutely delicious!I stopped by the North Market downtown Columbus in search of BBQ and ran into Barrel & Boar. I was sold with the samples provided by Suzie Smith and the exemplary customer service! This is the best BBQ I have had in Ohio hands down! I highly recommend stopping by Barrel & Boar and checking it out for yourself.
