Pulled pork was super juicy and tender! Their house BBQ sauce is a bit too vinegary for my tastebuds. I was more than happy eating the meat plain Jane. The coleslaw is also vinegar based, not the white-sauce way. Also a bit too pucker for me, but to each their own. The two gentlemen owners were easy going and polite. Nice chatting with them about the changing landscape of the local burbs.

Drove by here repeatedly on a Saturday morning to find it until I finally gave up. I don't think this place exists. In the address where it was supposed to be is Old Man Cave General Store, where the cashier said this business only sporadically showed up.

Had Backcountry at Rockmill a couple times. Fantastic! Great flavor, and the meat stays so moist. I am a sucker for a pulled pork sandwich and theirs is great. I always have to grab a ¼ pound of the brisket, too. Although I could probably eat 2 lbs of the brisket. Again, so moist, and phenomenal flavor. If you are planning the head to Rockmill, be sure to pick up some Backcountry!

I absolutely love this place and recommend it for ANYONE who: 1. LOVES BARBECUE DURING THE WEEKEND (Saturday and Sunday only) 2. Is near or around Old Man's Cave during the weekend and 3. just wants to have some REALLY good, fall off the bone ribs, pulled pork and/or brisket with that outdoor backyard barbecue experience. My roommate and I just happened to stumble on this place by accident and I can honestly say that we were NOT regretting that in slightest! We drove past on the way to Conkle's Hollow passing by Old Man's Cave and saw the flag "Barbecue" just outside the Old Man's Cave's Chalets entrance. We both made a decision. IF the care was still open on the way back we would try it. Well, it was meant to be! They were open and we tried it! My roommate tried the ribs platter. I ordered the 3 meat dish which consisted of a few ribs, pulled pork and brisket with TWO side dishes (I ordered coleslaw and their baked beans as my side dishes). I don't know where to start so here goes. The meat just had that wonderful barbecue smell due to the fact they use a wood fire grill. In fact, when we pulled up one guy was chopping wood for the grill! The meat itself was SO tender and practically falling off the bone you almost didn't need (but you still had to try) the 3 different barbecue sauces on the table; Regular, Hot and Spicy, and a vinegar flavor based sauce. The pulled pork was juicy and tender while the brisket had just enough of that blackened taste to it that gave it almost all the flavor it needed. The side dishes of coleslaw and baked beans were just as good BUT I must explain something. EVERYONE is different when it comes to side dishes. Some people like coleslaw sweet, some like it more salt than sweet. Some like it soft, others like coleslaw to be almost crunchy. Now with that said, I will explain just exactly how their coleslaw is and YOU decide if you want to try it. Their coleslaw was FRESH! I mean, they just chopped up all the carrots, onions and other veggies that morning so this coleslaw was crisp! Also, it was soaking in a lot of liquid. I'm sure if you ask you can get coleslaw without all the liquid portion but like I mentioned before, EVERYONE is different. Their baked beans were even better than the coleslaw in my opinion. They had beans with brisket mixed together! Just like the coleslaw though, I will say that their beans had a lot of liquid as well but it added to the flavor and kept the brisket meat soft and warm. BEST of all these portions were NOT small. These side dishes were at LEAST 4 oz. each! Throw in an ice cold can of Coca Cola and this was one truly amazing outdoor barbecue experience for both of us! THANK YOU BACKCOUNTRY BARBECUE! We'll see you soon! Now with that said I MUST say one more thing about Backcountry Barbecue and that is THEY ARE ONLY OPEN SATURDAY AND SUNDAY! I know that isn't much but if you can make it out here on the weekends you will enjoy it one way or another. One good news/bad news scenario to reveal as well; the hours listed MAY say 11am to 7pm BUT that depends on business and supply. If they are busy they may not stay open until 7 if they run out of product (BAD NEWS). But, if things are slow, especially for Sundays they have been known to stay open until their product IS gone (GOOD NEWS). Overall, this was an amazing outdoor experience. With the amount of food for the price ($16 for three meats, two sides and 12 oz. Coke) it was amazing and quite tasty plus eating outside at the picnic tables near the woods was just a blast especially when we were able to see (and hear!) all the motorcycles and even some muscle cars as they zoomed past us. A wonderful experience to try for anyone who loves an outdoor barbecue experience! We will definitely be back again!

I decided to give this a try since they are in town (Lithopolis) on the weekends & heard good things about it.I had the beef brisket & the mac & cheese & cole slaw as sides.while the mac & cheese was pretty good I was not a fan of the cole slaw. it was a little too much vinegar (my family usually makes it this way but we put a pinch of sugar to cut the vinegar.the beef brisket was as good as everyone says & very tender & flavorful.my only regret was that I didn't order more of it!I do plan on ordering again but I want to try the smoked turkey next time.

My husband and I started visiting the Backcountry BBQ food truck when it was at Rock Mill. Love their food - would drive out of my way to go get it. Now that they have moved into Lithopolis, it's much closer to home! Excellent food!!! Excellent customer service!!!

We ordered the two meat plate because the ribs were sold out. They were both amazing and full of flavor. Both meats were super tender and juicy with just the right amount of smoke. We had coleslaw and tender beans for the sides. Definitely plan to eat here if you stop by Rockmill Brewery in Lancaster, OH or wherever he stops!
