Athens farmer's market is My must to go whenever I come to visit ohio. Their located in the parking lot by texas steakhouse , elder beerman store. They only open on wednesday ( less stands) & saturday (more stands, vegetables, meat, bakery) 9am - 1 pm. They have a lots of stand that sells fruits, vegetables, meats, bakeries also wine testing (only on saturday). All the stuff there are fresh & organic also local, that is why I like it there but I was dissapointed on their sweet corns & cantalopes. My favorite are:* bread stands : herb & cheese bread $5 (if you can not find this stands in the market, you can go to Avalance pizza to get it)* Kettle corn : they have 2 flavor; caramel (small $5, large $9) & regular (small $4 , large $7) but actually their regular is mix with a little bit caramel popcorn so you get sweet & salty flavor.* Bone in pork chop ($5/ pack = 2 pork chop) : I forgot their store name (located a cross from kettle corn) (if you use food stamps & you spent more than $10, he will give you $10 tokens that you can spend on fruits & vegetables at any stands)* jackie O's : molasses cookie

In Athens County for a day trip taking in the 30 Mile Meal and stop 1 was the Athens Farmers Market. In a very random parking lot, with all the scenic areas in Athens I was quite surprised by it's location. It's located inside and outside The Market on State Mall so the positive part of the location is that they can move indoors when the weather turns yucky. The Athens Farmers market is year-round that runs Saturdays 9a-12p and Wednesday's (April through December) 9a-1p. With over 50 vendors, there is literally something for everyone. Some notable highlights: gorgeous state jewelry by Amanda Buchanan. I started holiday shopping early and snagged a few as stocking stuffers. I was blown away by some gorgeous pottery by Sledding Hill. Loved some tshirts and the concept behind It's Still Today. Tasted an abundance of salsa from Southwestern Style Salsa, they literally don't limit you or make you feel bad at all (which is great cause we ended up grabbing a few jars). Grabbed some jam from Fisher Farms and chips from Shagbark. I got the chance to meet the sweet daughters of Sarah's Sweets. Truly delightful girls who are so proud of their mom. You guys already know how much I love my sweets but what you might not know is that my favorite candy is fudge. I LOVE fudge so much and Sarah has a huge selection to choose from (more than 20) and it was SO YUMMY!And the flowers, swoon, the flowers at this market were just beautiful. I came home with two stunning bouquets.

I live in Columbus but I still rate the Athens Farmer's Market as the BEST market in Ohio! I have been to Worthington Farmer's Market, North Market, Bexley Market in the Columbus area and I still would pick Athens in a heartbeat! First and foremost quality of goods and secondly the friendly people that you interact with! Be prepared to see guitar players, singers, milling college students, hippies, professors (if you skip classes be on the lookout, have ran into one back in college, oops).

This is perhaps one of the most "commercial" farmers markets I have ever been to. Be prepared to negotiate or walk away as I have been given a checkout price about $6 more than what was listed or stated. Good for certain items at certain times. Always beware for the marked price.

This is the best farmer's market I've been to in Ohio. You can find any local produce you're looking for and even some local meats. I love to come to the market on Saturday mornings and get my weeks worth of fruits and vegetables. The hard part is figuring out what to do with it all. Here are the hours of the market10:00 am to 1:00 pmWednesdays (April-December)Saturdays (Year-Round)

My mom has been going to this for several months. Initially I was completely sold by the amazing fresh greens and bread that she brought back. To add to the actual products that are sold, the people are very friendly and often more than willing to give their advice on preparing their product. I only wish more farmers markets had the quality of goods as this one does.Definitely worth checking out, even if you have to drive an hour to do so.

You can get anything from fresh bread to local roasted artisan coffee to a baby Pawpaw plant here. All the sellers were lovely and more than ready to chat it up with you. And my cousin sells his delicious maple syrup here, Coonskin Maple Syrup from Amesville OH! Check it out!

This blows away any other farmer's markets in the state. The selection is vast, the people are friendly, and the food is exceptional. I always hit the market when I'm in Athens on a Saturday, and if I lived as close as Columbus, I'd honestly go at least monthly in peak season. The quality of the local food is just that good. Parking is free and ample. I also love the mix of students, hippies, and old-fashioned farmers running the stands. Several stands have excellent prepared foods and coffee, so you can go hungry and sate yourself while shopping. Finally, there always seems to be great live music, which really is gilding the lily. One of many things that makes Athens wonderful.

It is a common misconception that food from the farmer's market costs more than the grocery store. I personally have not found that to be the case at all. I love shopping at the Athens Farmer's Market! It is always a great experience. The vendors are friendly and offer local products for fair prices. The food at the Athens Farmer's Market is also so much healthier than the "mystery" meat, veggies, etc from the grocery store. Another positive of buying things from the Athens Farmers Market is that your money supports local businesses and the economy.

Okay, 4.5 stars. As far as product (raw) and products (finished), this is one of my favorite markets. We've been three times (every time over Labor Day weekend) and I'm so impressed with the quality of things you see at the market. The people are great - as friendly as they come - and the prices are excellent. The only gig, and I really want them to sort this out, is to find a permanent location in a green space somewhere in or around Athens. It's currently hosted in a parking lot, which is great for parking, but awful for strolling, avoiding heat, and nice shade. Get that fixed and they are gold.
