Athena Greek Restaurant

Driving through Mansfield on business and Yelp helped me find this gem. Nice old style diner ambiance with great service and a huge pile of tasty food for cheap. Will be eating here again next time I'm passing through instead of the standard chain places I've usually done in the past.

We're from the Columbus area and were meeting a friend from Cleveland area. We picked Mansfield as kind of a central location and our friend had been to the Athena Greek Restaurant before and recommended it.I love Greek food and have several fovorite Greek restaurants in the Columbus area so I was interested in trying a new restaurant. The Athena is highly rated on Yelp (5 stars) so I was looking forward to lunch at the Athena. The menu is a bit more limited than some of the other Greek restaurants I've tried but they do an excellent job of preparing what they do have on the menu. Personally, I had the gyro and fries and they did not disappoint me. It was an excellent gyro and the fries were very good.Service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable.

We got an order of hummus and the extra fancy Greek salad with gyro meat. The potato salad they put on the fancy salad is a little sweet, which is different, and very good. The salad is enough for two people. This is very good Greek food. We had fun talking to the owner, ask him about where he grew up in Greece, he will show you some amazing photos of the town he grew up in.Fast and very friendly service.

A delight!!! We loved the lemon soup and the platter. The cheese pie and spanakopita were next level!!! They even have wine. Service was excellent, what a delightful time. Cozy ambiance and fair prices. Give it a try!

I grew up in Mansfield and have been going to the Athens since I was little. We moved away years ago, but this is somewhere we get back to anytime we're in the area. I love Greek food and I think it's because I had such a great first introduction here. Comparing the Athens to other Greek restaurants, in state and out, they are just sooo good! The spanakopita is amazing and better than most I've tried anywhere else. The food is always quick and they are just as busy with carry out as their dine in. The dining room hasn't changed, completely unaffected by time. It's the same blue leather booths they've always had and it feels nostalgic, not out of date. We usually take a tray of the baklava home with us so that we can enjoy it after our visit is over. A true Mansfield gem. If you live in the area and haven't tried it... shame! Run, don't walk and get a gyro, some grape leaves and a dessert and you'll be happy you did.

Well then; so much to say, only so many character's! I would say My Big Fat Greek Wedding is the point of reference here. Workers yelling at each other, the gossip girls drinking coffee and chatting about current events, and dummies everywhere. (You have to ask the owner why, it's adorable) it's an eccentric masterpiece of planned chaos. Now, the food. Every single item was top notch; with large portions, great unique sauces, and fresh delicious flavors! I literally told the waitress to order me anything that was unique that I couldn't get anywhere else. My friend liked the idea and did the same. We ended up doing the Gyro bowl and Soutsoukakia. It was incredible! My other friend had the flaming cheese; you have to order this; the presentation is sick! Now; desserts. Not to sound like a broken record, but WOW! Only a creative group of foodies can incorporate shredded wheat into dessert and make it work so well! If you haven't tried Ekmek you have to! The cookies were similar to what my German grandmother used to make me and were also spot on! If you've read this far; this is one of my top 3 places I have EVER been. I have cooked and served customers in the restaurant business my whole life and this is a top 3 stop EVER!

Family restaurant. Not too big but had a healthy number of patrons. Typical Greek menu. Also lots of good specials. I got the gyro, soup, and salad special. Totally worth it and lots of food. Good value for $15. Staff was very nice and very attentive. We asked lots of questions and they were fun and playful. I went with friends and we all got something different and everyone liked their meal. We had chicken skewers and rice,, feta dip, cheese dip, salad, soup... all fantastic! Prices are reasonable, plenty of places to park, cooking in front of you, nice place. I'd definitely go back!

I was in town for a festival and happened to find a great, cozy Greek Restaurant! Our server was careful to review the favorites on the menu and she pointed out all the things that were made from scratch, in-house. So many things! Too many to list! I tried the Fiesty Feta Bread (served with warm pita bread!) and the Dolmadakia (grape leaves); both were very good! They have a full dessert menu too. The Galaktobouriko (an egg/farina custard baked in strudel) was outstanding!!! Definitely going back to try other menu items....Don't miss this place if you're in Mansfield!

I'll start with the positive- the service was great. Server was kind and funny. Now the negative- the food was underwhelming at best and offensive at its worst. The pasticio was like solidified hamburger helper with cinnamon sprinkled on it. It was borderline inedible, the worst I've ever had. The gyro was fine. The tomatoes were not sliced cleanly, nothing seemed very fresh. The fries were honestly the best part of the meal.
