Food was ok, most of it didn't appear to be "home cooking". Husband ordered a patty melt and only got his sandwich, no fries or side for $9. Service was more interested in their private conversations with regulars or other staff to pay much attention to their tables. Coffee went empty and waited for a refill then had to ask another server for more cream. The restaurant was very dated and just a small town diner. The ambiance needs some attention if wanting to continue the place, but the building is for sale so not sure.

Positives: Amazing obviously house made salad dressings. Made it difficult to choose. Staff very friendly.Negatives: Salad bar is otherwise very basic. Not a lot of variety. Chicken sandwich was juicy and good but very very small for the $5 they charge. Cabbage Roll casserole should be called cabbage roll soup. More tomato juice and water than anything and was very bland. Probably won't return.

It really doesn't even rate one star. It's a small off the road cafe type place that could be home style kitschy and awesome but it is run down, dirty, and the only fresh thing you can find in there are the flies. The salad bar was nasty with lettuce turning rust color & two pair of dirty tongs thrown into the salad bowl. Only canned vegetables on the salad bar and dressing so old looked like they had been sitting out for a week. We ordered vegetable soup which obviously came out of a can. We ordered a couple of different pies for dessert, being told that they were made fresh, and my guess is they were bought at Walmart 5 days ago. The service is lacking, the waitresses are more interested in personal conversation than the customer satisfaction. If I were you, go down the road and skip this joint.

April's Country Kitch'n is a very small-town local diner of sorts. The food was very reasonable, with the most expensive thing on the menu being about $10 dollars. It was clear that this is a local establishment with a lot of regular customers. The servers were very friendly and helpful.I ordered the Favorite #1, which was roast beef on white bread with mashed potatoes and gravy. The helping was very large and I could only eat about half of it. The gravy tasted like it was from a jar, but the roast beef was flavorful, although not really the same as your mom's roast beef.My colleague ordered the senior citizen's special, which is available for anyone over 50. She ordered spaghetti and sauce and, again, she thought the sauce tasted like it was from a can. The spaghetti came with a side, and options were macaroni salad, cole slaw, or applesauce--nothing that really goes with spaghetti.Overall, it was not a bad meal, but nothing great either.

Food used to be good back in the day. Its just frozen and can food nothing is home made anymore. The food is bland with no seasoning. Over priced for what you get. One thing I can say tho employee are super friendly and I can't say anything good about there food.

Way too expensive and they're very dismissive when you walk in the door and order food if they were a bit friendlier maybe I would give them a 3. MAYBE.

Staff is very dismissive and the prices are so high. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money in gas and just go to Jackie's in Kimbolton for better pricing and a nicer experience staffing wise.

I can't speak about the older reviews from 4 years ago, however we ate there last Saturday and I am a fan of April's. The room is clean, smells nice, and everyone I dealt with was friendly and very helpful. I ordered the Big Bob which was cooked perfectly with a very nice sauce on a toasted bun. Filling and delicious. The coleslaw was the best I have ever eaten. (Even better than Mike's Place in Kent Ohio). Home made salad dressings are a big plus. Generous portions of sides although home cut fries (as opposed to frozen) would have given them another star. The pies are home made and amazing to see. I was so full I could not eat a piece but next time I am gonna try a couple and skip my meal. Nice selection on the menu and I would love to try the chicken sometime. They also offer smaller senior portions.
