William F. Hayden Park on Green Mountain

So many trails to choose. Long trail or short or hike with your legs or hike simple. Close and choose what hike you want. The hard trail or the simple trail. I like the park for close to town.

We had a fun hike up to the park. Not too crowded and has some nice views of Denver and red rocks.

Some muddy spots on 3/29/20 due to a recent snow dusting. Starts out steep early on and gets the lungs working. Great views of mountains and downtown Denver. Mostly rocky and some very narrow paths.I liked taking a different route on the way back. So it can be an in/out or it can be a loop. I went up the main trail and came down the right/east side. I saw a lot of different things taking that other way like birds, a bunny, burrows. But, there were a couple areas where the bushes are beginning to take over the path. Overall it was a nice, solid hike.

Really hard to beat the proximity to Denver! Don't come here expecting breathtaking views of snow capped mountains and alpine lakes, but if you are looking for beautiful & well-maintained trails less than 20 minutes from the city with some views that are still pretty great, William F Hayden Park is hard to top! The Green Mountain and Hayden Trail Loop is one of my favorites for a moderate yet not overly-strenuous hike, and the wildflowers are usually popping in July. The trail head has plenty of spots and I have never had an issue finding a space, but it does begin to fill up at around 9:30-10:00. Absolutely no tree cover, so bring sunscreen!

This park is a BLAST to run at! I went out there a few times to explore around. It was never too crowded, but I also felt safe (versus isolated or lost). Trail signage was decent and the weather was great. The parking area is somewhat small, so beware of that if you are coming later in the morning or on the weekend. The stretch of flat at the top of the first big crest offers one of the prettiest views you'll find in the area--so picturesque and quiet!

Fun trails to explore! I agree with some Yelpers who mentioned about some slippery muddy parts of the hike, so please take care if you decide to go after some rain/melting snow. Luckily there's multiple trails available so when we saw that our current trail was getting too muddy, we just turned around and went to a different trail that was much more dry and safe. The scenery is pretty nice too! We took some amazing pictures of our puppy. I also like how the trails are pretty wide so it's nice to have the space to scoot over to the side to social distance with fellow hikers/bikers going through. Also, a plus for the trails to be not too difficult for low stamina hikers like me, hah!

This park reminds me of Mission Peak in the Bay Area. The wide open grassland covered hills do not offer shelter. The park is accessible from north, south, east and west sides of the Green Mountain. I have a measly mile stroll to the south entrance, with network of trails of sufficient mileage for an avid hiker. The highest peak rises above the Rocky Mountain foothills exposing picturesque panoramas of the front range peaks including Pikes Peak. In the winter the peaks are snow capped making the views that much more spectacular. Awesome park to put in some miles and enjoy the vast views. The climb to the toppeaks is defiantly a workout. The trails are also bike and dog friendly.

Green Mountain has often been a staple hiking spot for the Lakewood/Golden community. It offers multiple trails that are rated easy to moderate with an elevation gain of just over 1,000 ft. Just a word to the wise, the very beginning can be steep for some and will leave you out of breath, so be sure to pace yourself depending on your skill level.Given the location of this hiking spot, there are wonderful views of the Denver metro area and the sunrises are spectacular, if you can get out early enough. If you don't have any set plans for 4th of July, I highly recommend grabbing some lawn/soccer chairs and watching the fireworks displays across the city. I always try and make it up to watch the Coors Field fireworks. This is a very popular mountain biking destination as well and there are specific trails intended solely for mountain bikes. They are well marked and easy to avoid if you're hiking. If you're mountain biking, get ready for unimpeded trails with smooth turns and fun jumps. In wet seasons, it's super fun to get a little muddy.

My fiancé and I hiked this the other day, it was great and had some amazing views. The trails that we were on were clean and well maintained. I would recommend this to anyone!

Great little space for a quick get away from the city. Went here for a dusk hike and was impressed with the view, easily seeing some wildlife, and it didn't seem too busy! At a casual pace with some stopping for photos it took me 30 minutes to get to the top via the main dirt path.
