Dive bar, non-trendy, hole-in-the-wall; all that and throw in some interesting locals, tourists, bikers, a friendly waitress and you have yourself a great small town watering hole that gives a dirty ole western feel. I've stopped here twice, a decade apart and nothing has changed.

Stopped in here with my wife yesterday after lunch. We only had one beer. It's a dive with no kitchen, but you can get pizza from the place next door. Don't roll in with expectations of any more than that. The bartender was super friendly and helpful in trying to give us ideas of things to do while we were in Denver. Honestly, I hate to say this, but her talents are being wasted sitting in an empty bar during the middle of the day. Cold beer. Friendly staff. What else do you need in life?

Nice down home feel, no problems at all. Cabin like feel on inside and out. Just had some drinks since the other places in town had lines out the door, tried the brewpub and was very unsatisfied. This is nice

Passing through town on 70 and got a room for night. Decided to walk to this place and grab some drinks. Service was hreat, drinks were priced well. Pretty laid atmosphere mostly except when bartender booted somebody out for having a dog after she tripped over it. They get there food from next door, but it was great Overall good spot

Friendly, funky, and reasonably priced, the Westwinds Tavern is a good place to stop for a cold one after a hard day of tearing up the slopes at Loveland or A-Basin.Pool tables and local color abound.

Stumbled across this great place on a cross-country roadtrip from Milwaukee to LA. Stopped in for a drink and met one of the most hospitable and welcoming bartenders we have ever come across, KIDDO!! We were in a jam, uncertain of where to stay and Kiddo was at the rescue. Literally, she rescued us, twice! If you are in Idaho Springs or just passing through, be sure to stop in Westwinds Tavern and ask for Kiddo. She's awesome!!

I'm only giving a bad review because I could do so much better. I love this kind place but I think the help and owners are tired. I would love to own a place like this and I do know it would be hard work and I'm not taking that away from them.

I wish we had this kind of bar where I'm from. It's old, quirky and our bartender was incredibly friendly. It's just a simple bar, cheapest beers in the whole town and not overcrowded on a Sunday afternoon. She had all kinds of cool stories to tell about the bar and everything looks like it was straight out of the 70's. Most bars now are overpriced and give off more of a "classy" vibe that I'm not always interested in. She said that basically everything was original and they try to keep it that way. I just want a clean bar, laid back atmosphere and a cheap domestic beer.

The West Winds is a pretty laid back hole in the wall friendly dive bar on the main drag of Idaho Springs. W e once stopped in on afternoon after drinking at Tommy knockers up the street and stayed for about 4 hours jawing it up with the bartenders and a few locals. After about 10 Beam and Cokes it was time to head back to Denver. Our bill was so cheap!!! These folks know how to take care of you even if you are not a regular. The decor is what you might expect for a little mountain dive... I've been back to check out a band or two and it's a cool little joint.

Cool place, if you're looking for a regular bar with well priced drinks this is the place. Play some pool or foosball, $8 bud or Bud light pitcher all day.
