Washington Park Boathouse

Seriously a wonderful date spot idea. I came very, very late at night with my carefree partner at the time and sat in the car looking at a lovely view of ducks waddling and coming and out of the water. We were following these night owls as we walked the sidewalk constantly and gazed at the glorious stars shining on the lake. I saw parked boats and am enjoyed the summer night here. The garden is incredibly big; reminded me of Sloan's Lake, but even more romantic. Just as beautiful in the dark, this park is an incredible visit.

This review is for the boathouse as a wedding venue. We were actually married in Bali, Indonesia, but held a more casual wedding reception for our friends and relatives here in Denver who were unable to travel abroad. The boathouse was inexpensive, a relatively blank slate in terms of décor (we wanted to bring a tropical, Balinese feel to a venue so this was a good thing for us), and allowed us to use a food truck and our own alcohol/bartender, rather than having to opt for a specific caterer. The downsides to the boathouse are that there are no tables and chairs (meaning you must rent your own from a private rental company), the hours in which you can have possession of the rental are limited, you are responsible for your own cleanup, and there is no climate control in the 'getting ready room' and catering kitchen downstairs - which meant that it was very, very hot in August. I'd recommend either getting ready at a hotel instead, or bringing a couple of standing fans to help cool the room. Additionally, you can only have beer, wine, and Champagne at this venue, which wasn't a big deal for us, but it might be a deal breaker for others. Wedding venues in Denver are insanely expensive these days, even for the most basic - so this was an absolute steal comparatively - just keep in mind you will need to spend more on decorating since there really isn't anything here, just a brown floor and off-white walls. We got the venue when it was still only $600, it appears that weekend rentals are now $1000, still a good deal. If you're okay with shelling out a bit more for furniture rentals and décor then this is a relatively good venue for the price. I'd recommend hiring a clean-up crew, and a day-of coordinator to deal with the logistics of the place - but since it wasn't our actual wedding (there wasn't a ceremony) it worked out fine for us. I love this park. It's huge, it's beautiful, it's perfect.Beautiful garden setting, which I saw a wedding there one day: Gorgeous! You can rent pedal boats, kayaks, and stand up paddle boards. Always a good time.

Great outdoor venue, especially during the summer. Perfect location for events. Fits about 120+ people.

I was here for an event with the DDFL last month and I really dig it. From what I understand it was just remodeled and while it doesn't look super shiny and new it looks nice. It is a very simple venue with no windows and no real fuss just an awesome view of the lake, and good protection from the elements. I have no doubt that this could be dressed up to suit almost any style of event. It looks like a great wedding reception choice. If you wanted to you could do the ceremony here too.

Scam! Will charge for a full hour after 8pm even if you're out for 10 minutes. Also 12.99 PER person!! Very dirty too.
